I had an idea for a supernatural/romance type story, so I grabbed the laptop and just started typing out the story unfolding in my head. I usually don't do more than one story at once (I get confused way too easily) but I couldn't help it. Enjoy!

Madison and Kenna danced around Kenna's living room, the speakers blasting out soundwaves that would kill the hearing of an elderly woman. They flung their hair, headbanged, leaped up and down, and spun around. Madison slid over the hard wood floor in her socks, and shut off the speakers. They both leaped onto the couch and took deep breaths.

"I can't believe tomorrow is the first day of our junior year," Madison squealed.

"I know! Only one more year till we blow this Popsicle stand," Kenna replied, running her fingers through her hair.

Madison laughed. "Kenna, who the hell says 'Popsicle stand' anymore? Isn't that like, a meeting place for male prostitutes?"

They both erupted into hysteric laughter. The two girls had been friends since preschool. They were so close, they thought of themselves as more than friends, more like sisters. Madison was about 5'6, blonde, with an athletic build and blue eyes. Kenna was maybe an inch taller, brunette, thin, with high cheekbones and bright green eyes. People always told her to get into modeling, but Kenna hated the idea of having people stare at her.

"Promise me... this year, you'll give guys a chance," Madison demanded.

"I dunno Madi... ever since Cory-"

Madison grabbed her friend by the hands.

"Kenna. I know you and Cory were in love. But you have to accept that... Cory's dead. He's not coming back. He loved you, and he wouldn't want you to hold on to him forever. He'd want you to move on, and be happy."

Kenna sighed and nodded. "You're right. I'll give it a shot. I promise."

Madison smiled. "Okay, my mom's gonna flip if I'm not home by eleven. She thinks I'll sleep straight through my alarm and wake up at like, five in the afternoon if I'm not in bed by ten."

Kenna laughed, and watched her friend walk down the street to her house, three blocks away.

"Call me in the morning! I'll kill you if you wear the same outfit as me!" Madison shouted.

The two friends walked into school the next morning, dressed for fun. Madison wore white short shorts with a black tank and black sneakers, while Kenna wore a red fitted V-neck t-shirt with black short shorts and red flip flops. They lined up to get their locks, and put them on their lockers, right next to each other, of course. They were there about an hour early, so they went out in the outdoor cafeteria next to the parking lot, and talked to a few other people who were also there early. It was safe to say that the two girls were both pretty popular, even though Kenna considered herself a bit socially awkward.

"I think I forgot my phone in your car, Kenna," Madi informed.

They skipped over to Kenna's blue Ford Taurus, and Madi got her phone. As they walked back to the cafeteria, a car came across the lot, straight towards Kenna. Madi had already reached the cafe, but turned around and saw the car.

"Oh my goodness! Kenna, watch out!"

Kenna turned and screamed, frozen in horror. She shut her eyes and waited for the car to slam into her body, but instead she felt hands on her side, then her back hit the side of a car. She shot her eyes open, and there was a guy standing in front of her, his hands dropping from her sides.

"Are you okay?" He asked, face taut with concern.

"Yeah, I'm f-fine," she replied, her voice shaking a bit, "thanks to you."

He smiled and looked down, then met her eyes.

"I'm Asher." He stuck out his hand.

"Kenna," she replied, shaking his hand.

Asher was about 5'10, with slightly tanned skin, spiked dark brown, almost black hair, a muscled but lean body, and strange eyes. They were a mix of what seemed like blue and... red. Or maybe it was green. Gray? No matter how hard she focused, the color of his eyes was a color she'd never seen before. He smelled good. Overall, this Asher guy was hot.

"Uh... So I guess I'll see you around?"

Kenna noticed she still had her gripped on his arm, and she quickly removed it.

"Yeah! Thanks again, Asher."

"Anytime," he said with a smile, walking off.

Madison ran up to Kenna and grabbed her into a tight hug.

"I thought that car was gonna hit you for sure. I was this close to breaking down into tears. But who was that guy that saved you? I've never seen him before."

"Yeah... me neither. His name's Asher."

"Hmmm, Asher. Sounds cute. You should tell him to come to the back to school party tonight."

Kenna rolled her eyes. "I'm not just going to jump on the first guy I see, Madi."

"Nobody's telling you to! Just... invite him. You could end up being friends. Or more. Hopefully more."

Kenna punched Madi in the shoulder and laughed as they walked into the school building to get ready for the day. "I wish you'd shut up."

"And I wish I had a pink Chevy Corvette, but neither of us are getting our wishes," Madi responded, skipping to the front door.

Asher looked back to make sure Kenna and her friend had walked into the school, then went in the direction of the speeding car. He found it parked next to the side of the school, and pulled the door open.

"What the hell, Roxanne?"

A tall woman, about 6 foot, with pale skin, black hair, a thin body, lined eyes and dark lips stepped out of the car. Her eyes were the same color as Asher's. She was gorgeous.

"What did I do this time?"

"You almost killed that girl when you came speeding like a madwoman through the damn parking lot."

Roxanne rolled her eyes. "Asher, I don't care. You know how I feel about humans. Their lives mean about as much to me as the dust particles in then air."

Asher took a deep breath. "Look, being Immortals doesn't give us the right to just... Do whatever the hell we want. If we want to stay here, you have to show some self control."

Roxanne sighed and looked at Asher. "Fine, little brother. If you want to pretend to be human and 'fit in' or whatever, I guess I can do my best to do the same. For you."

Asher smiled. "Thank you. Now, I gotta get back before I'm late. Just... don't do anything crazy, ok?"

"I thought I was the older sister," Roxanne said smiling, as Asher walked up to the school.

Kenna sat in her first period class, Algebra 2. Just great. She hated this subject more than anything, and all the people in the class were either boring, jerks, or just all around fake. It was a bummer that Madi didn't have this class with her. She rested her hand on her cheek and tapped away at the desk, waiting for the teacher to begin. She looked up to see Asher walk in, looking around the class for a place to sit. She waved her hand and motioned for him to come sit next to him.

"Not the best place to see a pretty girl again," Asher commented.

Kenna smiled and rubbed her arm self-consciously.

"So... there's gonna be this big party tonight. Lots of food, drinks, people, games... everything. I was wondering..."

"Wondering...?" Asher said, a playful smirk forming across his lips.

"If you'd mind moving your seat," Kenna replied.

"Oh, uh, yeah, I'm sorr-"

"I'm kidding, Asher," Kenna said, laughing.

"Oh, you're hilarious," Asher laughed out.

"Oh, I apologize for interrupting your conversation!" the teacher blurted.

"Sorry, Mr. John-" Kenna started.

The teacher laughed. "I'm just joking. Do whatever. I'll just give you random worksheets when the principal comes in, and you guys have to pretend to pay attention so I don't lose my job."

Kenna nodded. This was going to be a fun class. That thought left when the school player, Anthony Aarons, leaned back.

"So, when should I pick you up for the party tonight?"

Kenna rolled her eyes. "I'm not going to the party with you, Anthony."

"Aw, why not babe? I'll show you a good time."

"I said, I'm not going with you. Leave me alone."

"What the hell's wrong with you? I'm trying to be a gentlemen and I get a bit-"

"Hey, man. She said leave her alone. Lay off," Asher responded.

"New kid wants problems?" Anthony stood up.

Asher stayed seated. "I don't want any issues, man. Just leave her alone."

Anthony stepped closer to Asher, who stood up. Kenna followed.

"Asher, it's fine. He's just an ass."

Anthony grabbed Kenna's wrist. "What'd you call me?"

Asher pushed the big guy into a desk, and he fell over onto the floor. The entire class erupted into laughter. He got up and swung at Asher, who grabbed his fist and held it. Kenna was smiling, until she heard bones cracking.

"What's going on?" the teacher came over and looked at Anthony's hand. It was bleeding, and one of the fingers looked like it was dislocated. Kenna turned and looked at Asher's face. It was pale, and his fit body was frozen. He darted his eyes at Kenna, then backed out of the room, and turned the corner behind the door.

Kenna followed him out. "Asher, it's okay. You ca-"

He was gone. Kenna was completely shocked. There were no closets or exits anywhere in this hallway, and the next hallway intersection was all the way at the very end of this hallway. There was nowhere he could have gone. Unless he went into another classroom. But why would he do that? He didn't know any of the teachers. Kenna pushed the thought out of her mind, got through the school day, went home, showered, changed, and drove over to Madison's house.

"You ready buddy?" Kenna asked, strutting into her best friend's room.

"Ooooh, don't you look fabulous?" Madison swooned.

Kenna was wearing purple shorts and a white tank, with white sneakers and a purple bow tied in her hair, which was pulled back in a neat ponytail.

"Look at you!" Kenna said, gesturing to Madison's attire.

She was wearing a fun blue dress with black sneakers and a black cross necklace.

"So, did you invite Asher?" Madison questioned as she fixed her hair in the mirror.

"Yes... but I forgot to tell him where it is, what to wear... ugh, he's gonna hate me."

Madison ruffled her hair once more and turned to her friend.

"He'll be fine. When we get there, just... let loose. Have fun. And most importantly, stop thinking Cory will be upset if you move on. He'd want this for you."

Kenna nodded and hugged her friend.

"And where are you going, looking like a cutout from an Urban Outfitters catalog?" Roxanne inquired, wine glass in hand.

He was wearing tan slim chino shorts, a fitted black t-shirt, and black sneakers.

"A party," Asher replied.

"You're crashing a party? Already?"

Asher faced his sister. "I was invited. And you know I'm not like that anymore."

Roxanne nodded. "I know, I know. But don't start having too much fun and let your guard down. We're here for a reason, you know. We're in hiding."

Asher nodded. "I know. Love you sis, I'm leaving now."

"Wait!" Roxanne called, "Don't forget this," she reminded, tossing him a black necklace with a chip of glass hanging from it. Inside the glass, there was a a black essence, almost like liquid, but kind of like gas too.

"Remember, don't take it off. If you do, an-"

"I know, I know. Another Immortal could find me. It blocks out their built-in tracking. Got it. I'm out."

"Don't do anything I wouldn't!" Roxanne called, as her brother walked out of the door and hopped inside of his black Mercedes sedan.

Kenna jumped and swung her ponytail to the beat of the music. Madison held her hands and swung them around while they both laughed and danced.

"I'm gonna go get a drink!" Kenna shouted over the music.

She went over to the "bar", which was only selling soda, water, and juice.

"Could I have a water please? Thank you."

Kenna went and sat outside of the party center, watching the little stream flow by. She still heard the thump of the music, but it was nice to just get away from it all for a bit.

"It's really nice out here, huh?"

Kenna almost choked on her water.

"Asher! You scared me!"

"Sorry," he laughed.

"But you came, I'm glad," Kenna said with a smile.

"Yeah, It sounded like fun. So who are you here with?"

"My best friend, Madi Powers. You'll meet her eventually."

Asher nodded. "No boyfriend? Well, I'm surprised."

Kenna smiled. "I had one. He... he went missing last year. They never found his body."

"I'm... so sorry, I didn't know. I just made this awkward."

She shook her head. "No, no, it's fine. In fact, Madi told me that this year, she wants me to give another guy a chance. It's gonna be hard, but... I want to move on."

Kenna looked up, right into Asher's oddly colored eyes. They seemed to be... pulling her. He smiled.

"I want that for you, too."

Suddenly, there was a movement in the trees up in front of them. Asher stood up.

"Who is it?"

A dark, lanky figure strolled out from the trees.

"Well, hello there, Asher."

"Go inside, don't tell anyone what's happening. Go inside and party, okay?" Asher commanded.

"Asher, what's wrong? Who is that?"

"That's something I can't tell you right now. Please, just go in. It'll be fine."

Kenna swallowed nervously, and quickly walked back into the building. She found Madi, sitting at a booth away from the dance floor, nibbling on a slice of pizza.

"Hey, where've you been?" she asked.

"I met up with Asher," Kenna said, still shaken from what was happening outside.

"Yay!" Madi clapped her hands enthusiastically. "Well? Details!"

Kenna took a shaky breath. "I got a drink, then I went to sit outside, and he just walked up next to me. We talked... I told him about Cory."

"Really? Wow, you never even got to that type of trust with other guys."

Kenna smiled. "I know. I don't know how, but he seems... different, in some way."

Madi laughed. "Well, he is. Have we forgotten already about him saving your life?"

Kenna smiled. "I just hope he's worth it."

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Asher walked closer to the figure. "Who are you? Who sent you?"

The figure laughed. It's voice was high pitched and gravelly, and honestly, it was frightening.

"I am Hex, and I have been sent by your brother, Victor."

Asher gasped. "How does Victor know where I am?"

"Your life force. The necklace diminishes most of it from being recognized, but Victor can sniff out an Immortal life force from miles away. He just told me to give you a message. He says that no matter where you run, what you do, or who you do it with, you cannot hide from him. He will find you, and Roxanne, and wipe you both from the face of the Earth."

Asher stumbled backwards. "Get out of here. You're lying."

The dark figure laughed again. "Am I?"

And just like that, it was gone. Asher breathed heavily and stood still, trying to figure out what had just happened.

"Asher? Are you okay? What was that?"

He turned around and saw Kenna walking towards him, her face showing obvious concern, and a tiny bit of fear. Even with that, Asher couldn't help but notice how beautiful she looked.

"Yeah... I'm fine. That was just some... uh, guy who lives on my street. Always fooling around."

Kenna smiled. "Well... they're about to play the last dance, and I was just wondering if you maybe wanted to..."

"I'd be honored."

Did you like it? It was very fun to write, I plan on keeping this going. I thought this would be a good place to end the first chapter, because it kinda gives you an idea of where the story is gonna go. Thanks for reading, please leave feedback! xoxo
