Hello ladies and gentleman,im really new and all so this is kinda, new to me. Ive never posted something like this on the internet and really im a pretty new writer in general just trying to pave my way in the world so im not the best but I hope you all can enjoy this anyways. im always open to critics and all that nice jazz. well here it .
He can't feel his face, it's numb and he's sure he zoning out thanks to the blood loss. He looked around at his surroundings, the woods were thick, the sunlight beamed down and he could feel its warmth on every inch of exposed skin, and the river he stood in front of was looking very inviting as usual. as far as helooked just a mass of trees in every direction. At the very least he was somewhere familiar, and he was thankful for that. Now to deal with the current problem he had. He hissed in pain and sat on the ground cupping his face and looked over at an item he had previously held in this free hand.
An eye.
His own to be exact. He examined the thing with his one free eye, ruby red iris looking back at him. It was sickening.
"God damned money hungry bastards." he grumbled before, without hesitation, tossed the eye into the water of the river and watching it float for a moment, the few pink nerves that had connected it to the rest of him sinking first, finally the rest of it sunk, the water was clear enough for him to watch it float down and rest at the bottom. He sighed and mourned the loss of his eye, he was not necessarily fond of his eyesight to the point it bothered him greatly to lose it, though it was a bit upsetting he would no longer be able to see from said eye.
he was just beginning to relax, the breeze was rolling in and the sun was still as bright as it was a moment before, it was an acceptable day,not the best, but no where near as bad as it could have been. He reached up to scratch his head and sighed once more, his brown blood matted hair was beginning to annoy him and with the convenience of water he could just wash it then and there. He leaned over and looked into the water. "Why not?" Just as he was ready to do so the sound of footsteps crushing sticks and leave, and the voices of the bill collectors that so rudely cut his face up. "Itami, Itami, hello?! Itami!?" Had they already caught him? He wasn't about to let himself be caught here. He balled up his fist and awaited his attackers,he wasnt going to go out with out a fight.
"Itami!"
he jumped up quickly, the ground felt like it was being shaken, the bright day was going dim, and suddenly the voices of the bill collectors was that of someone else.
"Itami get y'r lazy ass up." a young man commanded as he shook him in an unnecessarily violent manner. The first most notable feature about him was the teal locks of wavy hair on his head and the cat ears of a matching hue. They twitched slightly, he smacked the man, annoyed by his failure to respond. "yo, Itami."
His eyes were golden in color and had the same distinct slit that normal felines have, and his rough copper hand on the previously mentioned Itami's face was heavy.
"yo, I ain't asking, get the hell up." He smacked him around a few more times until he received a groan out of the other. "get off of me kid," he sat up and rubbed his eyes. Itami had a pale face, and a scar right across the left eye. his short brown hair was reasonably straight and hung in his eyes with a part in the middle, but messy from sleep.
"Thanks for waking me up..." he looked around the room. totally empty, not counting the bag sitting in the corner of the room. "You got rid of everything while I was sleep. good, we can get out of here faster."
The young feline smirked and from the look on his face, was quite proud of himself. "yeah yeah, lets get the hell out of here already, the trip begins today, lets go find Vin." he stood up on two paws, his human feet having been gone for years, and following that was a long tail extending from his back. he used his hands to flatten the wrinkles on his sand colored pants and black hood. "And before you say anything, you won't be able to talk me out of joining you." he said, stretching a bit and taking one final look at the empty room. nothing on the walls but tpe where posters were ripped down and a few nails whater things were hung.
"you think I cant?" Itami inquired giving a slight chuckle and stretching. Itami pushed the pile of covers he sat under off of him and sighed. "You know there's a chance neither of us will find what were looking for if we leave this town. Are you really willing to take this risk?" he said reaching over to his boots and pulling them onto his feet, he didn't want to take time getting dressed, it wasn't like he was going to go do anything that involved looking presentable today.
"that's disgusting."the feline added as he watched him get out of bed. "put on something new."he commanded. "thank you mother," Itami sighed. "but in all seriousness, you don't have to go, you have a good life here, good grades, friends, a good house, it wouldn't be a bad idea to stay here and just forget about what it is you're looking for."itami finished.
"I get it, you're worried that the parents I had might not still be alive right? Well if its true then it just is. But then that goes for you too. Vin might not be alive but you're still going." The feline continued. "There's no point talking about it, lets just go." And with that he walked out of the empty room, but not before grabbing the bags and tossing them over his shoulder.
"Yurashi," Itami called after him and followed him out the door. yurashi stopped and turned to listen to him. "Listen, this is your last chance, are you sure you don't want to stay here, I'm going to be perfectly honest with you as I always have been, I really doubt your parents are alive. I took you in and I took care of you and I'd hate to see you crushed when you don't find anything, alright?" He sighed and put a hand on his shoulder. " you could even die trying to find them, I'm just concerned, you know?"
Yurashi's ears pointed down and he frowned at him. "Ok, now you listen. I see what you're saying, you don't want me to get all bent out of shape over stuff I can't fix. I won't alright? Lets just leave and find my parents, and vin. You're looking for her right? Even though you know she could be dead."
Itami nodded. "Im going to take that risk." He thought about yurashi's words for a moment, he was right, it was worth going out and looking for them. Even if it meant they could come back disappointed.
"Fine," Itami held out his fist. "Lets go." There was a look of newfound confidence on his face, yurashi only smirked and fist pound him and made his way out of the door. "Yeah, lets go."
"I'm going to kill something if I have to walk anymore." Yurashi groaned for what seemed like the millionth time since they left.
"Please stop talking." Itami sighed.
He couldn't help but think that maybe bringing a lazy kid like yurashi with him on this journey was a bad idea. "I thought you would have more tolerance than this." He continued.
"We've been walking for seven hours! I don't know about you but I myself would be fucking dead by now, oh wait I am." Yurashi shouted and threw himself to the ground. "I'm tired and it's getting dark and I'm," he didn't finish the statement. He just wailed and flailed awkwardly on the ground. It was a display that could only be described as completely immature and unsettling. Though, looking at the sky, beyond the mass of familiar trees, it was dark.
"Get up you're making me want to vomit. Stop doing...whatever that is."he cringed and sat down on the ground against a tree and watched yurashi sit back up.
"Y'know, now that I think of it, this is the furthest I've ever been in 5 years." Yurashi mused. " the world looks way better than it dose in the books." He smiled and scooped up a rock off the ground in front of him. "There's nothing like this back in town. I'm sure of it." He finished.
Itami nodded, looking up at the sky from his spot under the trees. "There's a lot of stuff out here that's different, though we have tons of rocks in town don't be stupid, you don't even know the half of it," he looked at the feline and his expression hardened into a serious one. "There's a lot you need to know about life outside of our city, a lot of things out here can,and will, kill you, I hope you're ready to face them."he stood up, and grabbed the bag yurashi had brought with him. He pulled out a simple lamp and set it down on the ground and lit it up with a match that was taped to the side.
"Like what?" Yurashi ask him, genuinely curious. What exactly is it that could be such a threat that he would have Itami on his case to stay in the city." are there monsters or some shit you act like I've got no training in anything. I can fight. I can protect myself." He huffed.
"We'll you could say that they are. Humans. They are one of the worst things you could ever run into out here." He stretched and sat back down. "And the worst part is you really can't kill them." There was silence for a moment, nothing but the sounds of nature and the fire crackling in the lamp was heard and the look on yurashi's face as he tried to form words was that of confusion. "What the hell is a human?"
dont worry if that was confusing. all will be explained in the next chapter, thanks for reading.
