have you ever driven through a yellow sunset?

well.
dammit.
no, i haven't because
i haven't seen a sunset
or a sun
or even the sky.

there are people like me who live in paper worlds
and hardened nicotine lungs.

i don't remember when i last saw the sun -
maybe a month ago?

i cannot breathe in this place of reflective skyscrapers
and frayed horizons.
but i am not walking blind, just because
the sun's rays doesn't swing to me automatically like a spotlight.

you see, some places hardly ever have sunsets.

they're called the big cities.

a/n: no offense meant to people who can see sunsets. it's just weird explaining "i'm lucky to even have a blue sky."
