They heard the waves
against the shore
and the lure from
the world above
As the water receded
back to their home
they felt the Awakening
It sprung from a nerve,
an inward stir
concealed in the soul

Years of calling
brought them here
among the caverns
of the deep
There was no need
to speak a word
Their semblance -
maidens from the sea

They shared a summons
to the dormant surf
as they coiled
among the rocks
and sang a tune -
a collective voice
of silent synergy

The wind whirled
and waves roiled
as the melody
conveyed their lore
It traveled through
the currents of song
and set their yearning
