Yawning, I stared at the clock as it ticked down the seconds until school was going to be over. I groaned, seeing that in the past five seconds that I checked, there was still twenty more seconds to go. Finally, the bell rang and I sprang up from my seat and ran out the door, free at last. Since today was one of the rare occasions that I had decided that I needed to exercise, I had to walk to the bike stand to get my bike. It was a pleasant ride home; the sun was partly covered by clouds providing the perfect temperature that wasn't too hot or cold.
As I coasted down the sidewalk, I noticed a figure on the grass apparently sleeping. Upon getting closer it turned out he was, or it looked like he was, sixteen or seventeen, and he was bleeding… and it was a lot. My heart was racing in my chest, and I wondered what I should do. Just leave him… I don't even know the guy! It's none of my business. So I passed by him and tried not to even look at him. A few minutes later, I pulled up in front of my house and dismounted feeling awful and guilty. Should I have left him there? What if he dies?! Then the police will come looking for me and it will be all my fault, and they'll question me and I reeeaally don't want that… Groaning, I got back on my bike and rode back to the spot where I saw the guy.
He was still there, still bleeding, still looking pale. I reached him and cautiously got off my bike. Ugg… I don't think this is such a good idea after all… what if he's a pervert, or a murderer or something like that?! I steeled myself, figuring that I should at least ask the guy if he was ok, but I was wary and alert. Cautiously, I made my way over to him and knelt down.
"Hey, are you alright?" I poked him gently. There was no reaction. "Excuse me? Hello?!" I shook him harder and he groaned and opened his eyes groggily.
"…what? Where am I?"
Well, ok… nice to know that I'm dealing with someone that belongs in a mental institute…
"You're in Norwalk." He stared at me blankly, and I notice that he had stopped bleeding. That's weird, must have been a trick of the light that I thought he was bleeding before. "You know, Norwalk? California?" He still shook his head. Is he an amnesiac as well? Or does he just have a reeaaally bad sense of direction? "Ever heard of America? You know, as in the continent on Earth? Well, you're in the northern part of America, the USA." I meant it as a joke, but light dawned in his eyes as he finally got it. Or so I thought.
"Oh, so I'm in Earth." He sounded worried and relieved at the same time.
"Yeah, you're on Earth. Sooo… what's your name? And are you ok? You look like you're bleeding out your guts."
He glanced down at his shirt but didn't seem worried.
"Yeah, I'm ok, but I could use some food."
"You still haven't said your name yet." Now, as I looked at his clothes, it looked like something out of an anime. Was he a cosplayer and this was all an act to get himself into character? I tried to cross reference his clothes and actions to all the anime and manga I have read and watched over the years, but couldn't find anything to match.
He sat up quietly. "My name. My name is Yuji."
Ooookkkaaay… definitely a cosplayer. "Can I ask you something?"
He looked at me questioningly, and I took a deep breath.
"Are you a cosplayer and just trying to pull a fast one on me?"
"…what is a "cosplayer"? And I assure you that I am not trying to pull anything quickly over you, seeing as I haven't moved."
I stared doubtfully at him, then against my better judgment, sat down on the grass next to him.
"So, what's your story? Why are you decked out in such a weird outfit?"
"Do you know what a demon, or who the Devil is?"
"Yeah…" Is he some kind of religious nut that's going to kill me and claim that I'm a devil? "A demon is an evil being that may or may not exist depending on what you believe. Personally, I believe in demons, but not in the way that most hard core religious Christians believe in them." At this, he seemed to contemplate what I said for a second, and then asked another question.
"Well what do you think of angels and God?"
"You're kinda' weirding me out, but ok. I guess if demons are evil, then God and angels are good, and angels are God's lackeys."
Again, he seemed to contemplate what I said, then looked at me. His eyes were captivating. They were deep black with flecks of gold and when the light hit them, they had a hint of red.
"I am going to tell you where I came from, but you must listen through the entire thing, then decide if I'm crazy."
He probably was crazy, but I nodded anyway. I could get an interesting experience out of this at least. Looking at my watch, I saw that I still had plenty of time before my dad came home. Yuji took a deep breath and started his story.
"I come from an alternate dimension of your planet called Earth. Our world is called Aqua, and from what I have heard about Earth, the structure is nearly the same. The only problem is that… in my world, God has decided that humans are not necessary anymore, and he no longer finds humans amusing. This is why he has sent his angels to kill humans so he can start anew, seeing as he can not destroy the land again after what happened with Noah the wise."
"Wait, are you talking about Noah's Ark, and the story where God flooded the earth to get rid of all humans because they were evil and turned away from him?"
"Yes, in a way. I have read that here, Noah is described as God's chosen one to start life over again, but that is not true where I come from. In Aqua, God wanted to wipe all humans off the face of the earth, but Noah heard from a demon sent by the Devil what God was planning, and to keep the human race going, he built what is known as the Ark. After he survived, God was impressed, and decided to let Noah live, and because the Devil insisted and threatened to wage a war against what you call Heaven, God used his power to insure that he could not do something like that to Aqua ever again."
"Hold up, hold up one second." I held up my hand to stop him from continuing to talk. "What you are saying, if it's even true which I highly doubt, is that God is bad and the Devil is good." He paused, his brow furrowed.
"God is not bad per say, and the Devil is certainly not good, but currently, the Devil is pro humans, and God is all for them wiped off the face of Aqua."
"You keep saying human this, and human that, you're talking like you aren't human!"
He opened his mouth to say something, but suddenly snapped it shut and stood up. Aw man, did I do something? Is he going to go ballistic on me and stab me with a hidden knife? Then, I noticed that the street was empty. It was usually really busy with cars driving past, but there wasn't a soul or vehicle except for me and Yuji. He started cursing and staring at something coming towards us. I stood up, peering over his shoulder. Was it one of his insane homeless buddies? Then I gasped. A radiant being, like something out of an anime, walked towards us. He was beautiful, with flowing silver hair and ice cold blue eyes that snapped and sparked with some unknown energy. Yuji, who was in front of me, faced the beautiful being, and sort of shielded me behind him, growled under his breath, then spoke out loud.
"Gabriel. What's God's very own right hand man doing here?" The man didn't answer, but looked at him protecting me and smirked.
"Well," he spoke in a voice like a choir. "It seems you have found yourself a little pet, Lucifer."
Wait… Gabriel? Lucifer? If I'm not mistaken, aren't those the names of God's angel and… the Devil?! Well, now there are two cosplaying freaks. Why am I even here?
I started slowly walking towards my bike, hoping I could get on it and ride home fast enough, then call the police.
"Well, it was nice knowing you and seeing your friend, but I think I should be going…" I froze as the man named Gabriel turned his gaze towards me. His stare was as chilling as an icy snowstorm, and I gulped. Yuji cursed and shouted.
But before I knew anything, Gabriel extended his hand and I suddenly felt a blinding pain. Screaming, I fell to the ground with a heavy thud and squeezed my eyes shut. When I opened my eyes, I saw a growing red pool of blood seeping out from somewhere.
Oh, it's blood… my blood. For some reason, I stopped screaming and just lay there feeling detached and hurt. I saw Yuji glance alarmed at me, then turning to yell something at Gabriel, who laughed. Yuji then knelt next to me and took my hand.
"I'm so sorry, this wasn't supposed to happen. No one was supposed to get hurt! I need you to come with me if you want to survive. You just have to say yes."
I saw the intense worry in Yuji's eyes, and the growing alarm in Gabriel's as he took in what Yuji said. He started striding towards us yelling.
"You can not! If you try to bring it over, I will kill it before you can!"
Even though my head was fuzzy and fading, I realized faintly that he was calling me an it. I felt angry, and I wanted to make him mad, but I couldn't move or do anything.
"Just say yes!" Yuji leaned over and squeezed my hand urgently.
"…yes…" I barely could say the word, the pain in my body growing worse by the second. Everything was fading to black, but in my last moments, I could see a glow of light surround us and Gabriel try to do something, but couldn't, and that made his face distort with anger. Ha, served the idiot right, no matter how hot he it, he has no right to call me an it. Then, I felt my consciousness slip and I knew no more.
