Recap: Kiri and I were just at the spa and I cancelled Holly's sleepover. Start from the day after that. Also secret fiancé guy just started talking to me. Hallelujah.

I woke up earlier than Kiri the next day. We were both passed out on the couch with blankets, duvets, and pillows scattered everywhere. The two of us had a TV series/Movie/Anime marathon. Proof? The Vampire Diaries episode 14 season 5 was still playing on the plasma screen. I checked the time. It was 6:30-ish and Kiri was asleep on the other side of the couch. I got up and stretched my arms as I groaned. What time did I even sleep last night? I think to myself.

I took my phone and checked if Fiance called or anything. Apparently I was a good girl yesterday since I didn't have any. Feeling a bit disappointed, I dragged myself to my bathroom and took a full body shower. I got out and dressed in a white V-necked long sleeve and a pair of high-waisted shorts with silver studs. Plus, I had my Totoro slippers. I did my normal routine. Eyeliner, and all that and then I blow-dried my hair. By the time I went out of my room, Kiri was already up and stretching.

"Morning..." She says with a yawn.

"Yup. Morning." I say as I heat up some water. "Tea or coffee?" I ask her.

"Tea." She replies as she scratches her head. Kiri had her hair in an unruly bun and she wore a black sweater with a pair of cute cat printed leggings. "I'll just go to the bathroom quick and I'll help with breakfast." She says and I nod.

"Sure thing." I say with a smile. I opened up my fridge and pulled out a pack of bacon. Then I took some bread out of a cabinet and popped four into the toaster. Kiri came out a few minutes later blasting "Clarity" in the kitchen.

"Want me to cook eggs?" She asks. I nod my head and we both work at the kitchen. When we finished cooking we took a seat on the floor in the living room and placed our plates on the coffee table. Kiri switched the TV onto a news channel.

"Did you hear about Lizzie?" Kiri asks me. BTW, Lizzie is another one of my old friends from high school.

"No, what happened?"

"Jason like, proposed to her last weekend." Kiri says as she shows me her Facebook newsfeed on her phone.

"Oh, wow." I say. I'm surprised I haven't noticed.

"Well they've been dating since 10th grade. Not surprised." Kiri says.

"Yeah, still remember their anniversary too." I say with a shrug. "Oh, I was just gonna ask you. How'd it go with Kevin?" I ask Kiri. Kevin was Kiri's boyfriend. Well is. I don't know anymore. It's hard to keep up okay?!

"Oh right. Yeah, well, I broke up with him a few months ago. Sorry for not telling you." Kiri says.

But she's not remorseful about it, and honestly I'm not surprised. Kiri was the first one to have a boyfriend in our class. She was in 6th grade and they became "official" after the first 2 days of middle school camp. Afterwards came about 10 others, she was only heartbroken after the first one. The rest was history... well drama. Nothing but drama.

"Let me guess. He was a total dick." I say and Kiri nods.

"You know, the usual. I can't seem to find a nice sweet guy. Even when I do, they turn out to be too clingy for their own good." Kiri says as she eats her toast with some egg.

"Hm." I say with a shrug. "At least you knew the faces of your boyfriends." I say and Kiri laughs.

"Yeah, that's a great upside." She says with a wide smile and a bit of a sarcasm.

"Still planning to land a job in Disneyland?" I ask her. Yes. It's Kiri's dream to work in Disneyland.

"Trying, but I think I'll go downtown and find some tiny café or restaurant to work in today. You think I'll find one?" Kiri asks me.

"Of course you will." I say, and I'm not saying that to be nice. I seriously think she will, I mean, just look at her.

"Great. For a café jobhunt, what do you think I should wear?" Kiri asks.

"Show me the options." I say. Kiri smirks at me before sighing. We made her way into her room and she lay her clothes on the floor.

"These are all I got." She says. There were dresses, shorts, skirts, and several different shirts.

"Well, looks like we've got some work to do." I say with a smile.

In the end I got Kiri into a navy blue skater skirt, a white peter pan collared blouse, a cream cardigan (courtesy of moi), and pair of black and white creepers. Kiri asked me to do some braided bun with her hair, and since I love styling hair, I did it without much difficulty. What? Don't tell me you've never gone on that Youtube spree where you click non-stop on make-up and hair tutorials? I neatly pushed in a blue rose clip into the center of the bun before speaking.

"Oh yeah Kirs, I almost forgot to tell you, one of my friends are coming to sleepover tonight... and we might go out clubbing... wanna come with?"

"Hm? Who?"

"Holly, you know, the girl I've been taking selfies with on Instagram. She's cool." I say with a shrug and Kiri shrugs back at me.

"Alright, you know I don't really mind. Besides, it's been a while since we've gone out and danced our feet off!"

"If by a while you mean our graduation party. Then yes. It has been a very long while." I say and we laugh together.

Kiri left 10 minutes ago in the car. I told her she could tell Will to bring her everywhere since he's an awesome driver. Next I messaged my fiancé about my change of plans and how Kiri was planning on getting a job. I was just about to get on with folding the blankets when he calls me up. I quickly grabbed my phone and answered.

"Hello." I say quickly. I pressed my phone between my ear and my shoulder as I began to fold the blankets.

"Hey." He says, again, he didn't use that voice changing thingy. Score.

"Does this mean you're not going to change your voice anymore when you talk to me?" I ask as I finish folding up the duvet and take my phone back into my hands. I hear him stifle a laugh before speaking.

"I guess so... I'm surprised you don't get shocked anymore when I call you unannounced." He says and I hear the squeak of a leather chair. How do I know that sound? My dad's got one back home.

"Are you making fun of the way I answered during the first few months you called me?" I ask. Trust me. Those aren't memories I'm fond of. He didn't know what time to call me either. He'd either catch me asleep, just out of the shower, or worse... And no, I won't define worse, but you can tell what I mean.

"Maybe." He says with a slight laugh.

"Oh fuck off." I say as I run a hand through my hair. He laughs this time before sighing.

"I was thinking about bringing you over to a party." He says and my heart leaps in hope.

"When...?"

"Tonight. Holly and Kirsten can come. It's a semi-formal masquerade event." He says kindly.

"Oh, alright. I'll tell them later on." I reply.

"..." I think my fiancé just ran out of things to talk about. I stifle a giggle.

"This masquerade thing. Can I expect you to be hiding amongst the crowd?" I ask him in a flirtatious tone. It takes a while for him to respond.

"Maybe."

"Hm... Well then, should I dress up extra special for the occasion?" I ask in amusement.

"It wouldn't be a bad idea, that's for certain." He says and I can imagine a smirk on his face.

"Lately, playful Fiance has been very very good to me." I say as I grin and walk into my room to pick out an outfit.

"Hm..." He says and I smirk to myself.

"Alright, I'll go pick my glamorous semi-formal outfit and inform the rest of my party. See me soon." I say and he picks up on my play of words.

"See you." He says and he drops the call.

"Well, I'm certainly busier today." I tell myself. I quickly sent out a message to both Kiri and Holly.

Hey, just got invited to a fancy (semi-formal) drinking party tonight. Masks needed tho. Heading out to buy some in a minute. Will send pics of some when I get to the shop, tell me which one you like. 3 (Yes, y'all are coming with.)

Both of them responded quickly with something along the lines of Sure thing. See ya later.

I pulled on a pair of white wedged sandals. Shoved my wallet, phone, earphones, into a white handbag and I headed out the door. Will, of course, was driving Kiri around, so really I only had Evan to both drive and guard me. He brought out the

"Evan, do you know why he's suddenly becoming so forthcoming?" I ask as Evan drives me back to the galleria. Evan doesn't seem to know how to answer so I just sigh. "Never mind." I mutter.

"Could you fall in love with someone you couldn't see?" Evan asked suddenly. Surprised by the sudden question, I cleared my throat.

"If you're asking me if I love my fiancé, then... I still don't know if I do." I say and I begin to explain. "He's done a lot for me and I'm trying to understand him, but I don't. At least not quite yet." Can we add that to the fact that he won't show me his face?

"Do you want to meet him?" Evan asks emphasising on the want, as he takes a turn.

"Of course." I say before staring out the window. "Supposing he wants me to." And... that was the end of my conversation with Evan. I plugged in my earphones and zoned out, thinking about what he'd said.

I was walking into random accessory shops in Cambridgeside looking around for masks. I'd already forewarned my fiancé that I was only on the look out for masks. Nothing more, nothing less. Just as I was looking around another shop I heard loud voices near the fitting rooms.

"Oh come on, Stevie, you should at least learn how to court a girl." A woman said from one of the fitting rooms.

"You should learn to take care of your boyfriend issues." A familiar voice replies. Holy shit. I think to myself. That's fucking Steven from the other day!

A saleslady walks towards me and begins her routine of asking me what I'm looking for.

"Hello miss, are you looking for something specific?" She asks me kindly. I nodded. He probably doesn't even remember you. I convince myself.

"Yeah, I was looking for masks?" I ask the lady.

"Oh they're right across the fitting rooms, in the accessories area." She responds. I nod my head.

"Thanks." I say as I make my way over there.

"Stevie, you're a Class A bachelor. I'm sure there are more than a handful of girls willing to date you." The woman's voice says. I try to quickly make my way past Steven who's sitting down on a leather stool.

"I don't want easy gold digging girls. You know that." Steven says casually. He was wearing the same style he did the other day. Hm. Businessman? I think to myself as I quickly crossed behind him. There was a mirror right in front of him and I was grateful enough that he didn't see me.

"Who said the handfuls of girls would be gold diggers?" The woman says. I roll my eyes at their conversation. Why was I even eavesdropping? I don't even know any of them. I say as I make my way to the accessories.

Lucky for me, I found dozens of masks. I called on a nearby saleslady and asked if I could take photos to send to my friends.

"Would it be alright for me to take photos? I'm only sending them to my friends for them to choose." I say casually. This saleslady, apparently, isn't as nice as the other.

"I'm sorry, but photos are strictly forbidden." She says in a I'm-not-really-sorry-bitch voice.

"Okay." I say and I quickly call up Kiri.

"Kiri!" I greet.

"Hey! I just finished my interview at this café. I think I got the job!" Kiri says happily.

"That's great! I'm at Cambridgeside right now and I can't take photos of the masks. They've got sparkles, mattes, metallics, girly, classy, fancy, etcetera. Just tell me what color and what styles." I say casually.

"Ooh, I think I'll go with... a dark black or blue one with lace and feathers. You already know my style." She says.

"Got it. I already have a perfect one right here." I say as I hold up a deep matte metallic blue one with lace on top and black feathers at the side. "Call you up later again. Kay?" I say.

"Yup. I'll be counting on you for that mask." She says before hanging up. I phone Holly next.

"Hello!" Holly responds with a lot more energy.

"Hey! Okay, what color and style you want for your mask girl?" I ask quickly.

"Ooh, straight to the point my sister. Alright hm... simple white luxury mask. You know? With like all the gold sparkles and maybe rhinestones?" I smirked at Holly's request.

"I got it." I say as I pick up one I know she'd like. "Call you up later, again." I say as I hang up. God I love my friends. I hate abstract people (I'm a hypocrite, yeah.). Thank goodness they're straightforward.

I picked up a white lace mask with small gold details and a bit of rhinestones on the edges. There were minimal feathers and it was elegant, the way Holly liked things when she went 'fancy'. I held onto the two masks as I decided to choose one for myself. I picked a black metal lace mask with red rhinestones embedded on the edges of the eyes. Just as I lined up at the counter I realized that Steven and a woman was arguing with one of the salesladies at the counter.

God... I think to myself. The woman with Steven was slender and had thick brown locks. I could only see her back, but she was dressed in a slim black dress with a pair of classy black Louboutins. I had no idea what the hell they were arguing about but I just quietly waited in line. I heard Steven sigh and he slowly began to turn around. Oh shit. I think to myself and just as he turns, a saleslady opens up the next counter and I head straight for that counter.

"Sorry for the inconvenience Miss." The saleslady says. I shake my head.

"It's not a problem at all." I say as I take out my wallet.

"...Hey." Steven says, but I ignore it. I place the masks on the counter and wait for the saleslady.

"Hello...?" Steven says again, and this time I look at him. "Hah! I was right! You are the girl from the other day!" He says, with way too much enthusiasm.

"...Yeah." I say as I hand the saleslady my credit card. But Steven stops me.

"You might not wanna use credit. They're having issues with it." Steven says with a smile. He was only a meter away from me.

"Thanks for the advice." I say as I put my credit card back into my wallet. I take out a hundred dollar bill and hand it to the lady.

"Well aren't you a rich young lady." Steven says with a smirk.

"...mmhmm" I mumble. The saleslady smiles at me in a semi-apologetic way. I reply with a sigh.

"You going to a party tonight?" Steven asks me as he glances at the masks. I'm surprised the woman with him is still arguing with whoever the person is on the other counter.

"Yes." I reply simply. The saleslady smiles as she hands me my change and I place it into my wallet.

"Does it happen to be a masquerade at Le Solaire hotel?" Steven asks.

"Maybe." I say because I really didn't know where it would be.

"Oh, that's great. I'll be there too. You must be from a good family." Steven says with a smile. Or maybe I just have a 'good' fiancé. I think to myself.

"And you must absolutely be from one." I say as the lady hands me my bag.

"Leaving so soon?" Steven asks.

"I have a party to prepare for Mr. Richmond." I say, remembering his last name. I walk away and message my fiancé.

The masquerade isn't held at Le Solaire is it? I quickly send. His reply was almost instant.

I'm surprised you know. I decide against telling him how I know. He'd probably freak out in some way... or not. I don't know.

Just a lucky guess. I mean, it's a fancy hotel right? I message.

:)

A smiley face. That's what my fiancé replies. I think it's supposed to mean you could say it is... but whatever. So I just tucked my phone into my back pocket and decided to walk around aimlessly until Holly or Kiri would contact me.

It took approximately 3 hours before Kiri contacted me about going to a salon. She said she was too lazy to touch her own hair and make up for the event. Also, Will told me that my sweet fiancé set up a stylist that would help us pick out outfits so... Why not, right? Evan contacted me saying that he would bring the other car back wherever he parks that thing. So I had about 15 minutes of actual privacy, before Will got to the galleria.

What did I spend my 15 minutes on?

Window Shopping.

Oh

Yeah.

The simple luxuries of longing to buy something and calculating how much money I'd lose if I bought it. As well as the other simple luxury of convincing myself how I don't really need such things. Ah. The simple life. But it was only 15 minutes. So. It was pretty damn short lived. Will popped in front of the mall and I went there immediately to spare Kiri the extra waiting time.

"Hey!" Kiri says excitedly. She was riding shotgun and Will was laughing. Wait... a sec... I smell romance. Okay fine. Maybe a blooming friendship. Will is single and really he's young... Like only a year older than me young which is good because Kiri is single. She's also a year older than me single. Yanno?

"Hey!" I greet back, I open the door behind her seat and she quickly makes a move to go there too.

"It's fine, I can stay here by myself." I say with sarcastic sadness. Kiri gives me a stop-that-he's-just-a-friend look. I giggle as she follows me into the back of the car.

"How was your job interview-day?" I ask as I hand her a bag of macarons I'd gotten earlier. While I'm on the topic. How the fuck do you say macarons. Is it with a ron or a roon. I say it with a ron. ANYWAYS.

"It was fun, Will showed me around practically everywhere." Kiri says gladly.

"Great, think you'll be hired?" I ask with a smile.

"Maybe. I hope so." Kiri says.

"Let me just call hit Holly up-" I start to say but Will interrupts.

"I've already contacted Ms. Holly in advance. She should already be at the salon." Will says happily.

"Oh that's great. Thanks!" I say happily.

"Partehh!" Kiri says and we all laugh together, with Will of course. I stared out the windows and completely zoned out afterwards. My head was filled with practically the different ways I would meet my fiancé. You know, move styled scenarios? What? A girl can dream, can't she?

But you know who keeps popping into my scenarios?

Mother fucking.

Steven.

I know.

Like.

What.

The.

Absolute.

F*ck, is wrong with my stupid brain?
