The engine hisses and sputters.
Thick black grease dragging on ivory,
Rust blooming between iron bones,
Parts loose and click click clattering onto the floor,
Industrial drums beat inside the body,
Covered in paint and metal, moving parts hidden away.
Wrenches push and twist nuts and bolts
Until they become new again, rust forgotten,
Ice and rain and snow curl back
As oil rolls nimbly over hot metal
Slither deeply into iron veins
Smooth silence blanketing the engine
