Averted Eyes

Sitting at a desk watching faces pass by
Glazed over looks abound
Wishing to shake each and every one
Out of their dazed confusion

How can you live life just passing them by
Refusing to look and see
There's an abundance of things going on below
The averted eye in the hall

And yet you yell YOLO as you jump off a cliff
But what you don't understand
Is that you can live on even after you die
Just by saying "I'm here"

Next time you see that cast off look
Or the eye glittering with tears
Think of how easy it really is
To say something instead of ignore
