AN: Oh man I am so glad summer is finally over. Updates should start coming faster. Hope you all enjoy this chapter.
"I bet I could convince him to let you stay another day?" Hera pouted.
Brock looked up from the bed he was making and shook his head. "I have responsibilities in the mortal world. I can't leave them unattended."
Hera rolled her eyes, "If I didn't know any better I would be sure you were enjoying your punishment living among those creatures."
"Well it's a good thing you know better," Brock deadpanned.
"Don't take that tone with me," she warned walking up behind him and running a firm hand down his back until she reached his ass. "Unless you want a spanking that is."
Brock pulled away. "Sorry to cut this short but you know how I hate goodbyes." He smiled then disappeared back to the cemetery he'd left three days before.
It was morning time, the birds were singing and there was a small chill in the air. Brock took a moment to wonder what it would be like to live in a place that had actual seasons. Cold at the moment he guessed.
He walked down the winding path until he reached his Prius. It had a bright orange sticker on it that warned that if it wasn't moved soon it would be towed. Brock frowned it took forever to get those stickers off.
He unlocked the car and got in. He took his phone out of the glove compartment and wasn't surprised to see that he had a ton of missed calls. Most from Chloe a few from Finian and Maria, but none from Kieran. He tried to pretend like that fact didn't bother him.
It was nearly eight am so he headed straight to the office.
"And where the fuck have you been!" Finian growled when the door to the elevator opened. Brock was a bit surprised to see three of his team mates all pointing weapons at him.
"Just a little vacay… thought I put it on the calendar? No?" Brock said holding his hands up.
"No!" Chole snapped holstering her gun. "Well guess what pretty boy did?"
"What?" Brock asked looking around the office for Kieran himself.
"Stole the key to the high security storage, stole my car, knocked me out? And is still MIA."
Brock's happy go lucky attitude flew out the window. "What did he take?"
"We don't know because the only one who knows what's in the building is you Brock!" Maria shouted.
Brock took a deep breath and ran his fingers through his hair. "Finian with me. Girls you stay here unless I call," he said finally getting back into the lift. He turned to see Finian hesitating. "Now!" he snapped. Finian got in.
"I can't believe you just took off," the doctor growled as soon as the doors close behind them.
"Well, I didn't think everything would go to shit without me," Brock said.
They took the Prius to the storage center and Brock began the process of figuring out what Kieran had stolen. In the back of his mind he had a clue, but he didn't want to believe it. When he opened the one vault he'd been avoiding though he knew it was true.
He collapsed to the floor and began to sob into his hands not even caring that Finian was there to see him. He'd just began to allow himself to love Kieran and now the boy was gone. There was no way he was alive if he'd made it into the Vampire nest, and if he was alive he was probably no more than zombie, just like all the other feeders in the nest.
"Brock," Finian whispered. "Everything's gonna be alright." He sounded like he was talking to a mental patient.
Finally Brock looked up and met Finian's eyes. "He took a stake. His plan was probably to kill as many vampires as he could. He played us all from the beginning. He's dead now. It's not alright." He stood and threw the vault that had held the stake across the room with more force than he should have had. Finian didn't even flinch.
"Let's close this up and get back to the office."
Hours later Brock sat in his office drinking straight whiskey and going through the voicemails in his phone. Praying that he had an old one from Kieran saved so at least he could hear that beautiful accent one more time.
His phone rang when he'd listened to as much of Chloe's whining as he could.
"Lander," he answered feeling dead or at least wishing he could.
"Finally, I've been trying to call you for days. The Queen thought I was avoiding the conversation cause I didn't want to let him go. Which is so not true." Came a rambling annoying British accent.
"Who are you?" Brock asked standing up.
"Felix," the man said.
"And what did you want."
Felix sighed on the other end. "So we apprehended one of your employees trying to kill one of ours. Apparently we owe you something or whatever, so it's your choice what this one's fate it."
Brock heard a whimper in the background. One he was certain he'd never hear again. "I want him."
Brock parked his car in front of the house his GPS said was the one. It was late or early depending on how one looked at it and for the first time in forever Brock was thankful that he was a god and didn't need sleep to function.
The drive to Houston had earned him two speeding tickets, but he didn't care. All he could think about was seeing Kieran alive and well again.
He knocked three times on the door of the normal looking home just like he'd been instructed and it opened immediately after the third knock.
"Lander I presume?" the blond that answered said.
Brock smiled. "Yes, but you may call me Brock. You must be Felix?"
The vampire nodded. "You're employee is right through here. I must say I'm a bit saddened to see him go. I really liked him."
Brock pushed down a cocky remark that was on the tip of his tongue and followed Felix to a small bedroom in the home. Kieran was laying on the bed wearing only a pair of boxer briefs. Brock stopped himself from running forward.
Instead he stared at the sleeping man for a moment then looked at Felix. "Does he have clothes?"
Brock decided Felix wasn't very helpful. "I'll be taking him now," Brock said finally walking forward. He unhooked the rope that was tied around Kieran's wrist and lifted him over his shoulder. Kieran whimpered and wiggled a second but Brock put a stop to that with a firm slap to his ass.
"I'll let you know this. If we catch him in Houston again, he will remain mine," Felix threatened.
Brock smiled. "Not to worry, he won't be leaving my side."
Once back outside Brock put Kieran in the backseat of his car and hurried to the driver's seat. For the first twenty minutes of the drive back toward Austin neither man talked.
Kieran was the one to finally break the silence. "What did they tell you happened?"
"Who?" Brock asked looking in rearview to see his lover.
"That you broke in and attempted to murder one of them. You're lucky they didn't kill you on the spot. You're extremely lucky they gave you to me."
Kieran looked out the window and Brock was able to get a better view of his neck. Felix's had left quite a few bite marks there. "I feel lucky," the red head said dryly.
Brock sighed and the silence returned for another ten minutes until Brock broke it. "If you're hungry there are some granola bars in the trunk and some water. I'd take you to eat but…" he trailed off.
"I'm fine, I'm just gonna try and sleep. If that's okay, you are in charge of me now and all."
Brock looked into the rearview once more. "Yes I am," he replied making sure Kieran understood that. "And yes you may try and sleep."
Kieran leaned against the door and closed his eyes and Brock went back to focusing on the long drive.
They didn't talk again until they reached Brock's place and that was only a small. "We're home," from Brock and a grunt from Kieran.
Brock considered putting the man in the spare room but he knew he couldn't trust him not to run, and Brock couldn't bear the thought of losing the young man again after just getting him back so he led him to the master bedroom.
Kieran collapsed into the middle of the bed. "No," Brock laughed "You're not gonna hog the whole thing."
Kieran rolled to one side. Brock shook his head and pulled the covers out from under the younger man and laid them over him. He then undressed himself and slipped into the bed as well. Kieran scooted farther to the other side.
Brock grabbed him and pulled him back. "I gotta hold you Kir, but that's all I'm gonna do okay. I won't hurt you. You know that right."
Kieran nodded and sniffled a bit against Brock's chest.
"I'm angry, but… It's gonna be okay."
That earned Brock a small whimper in response. Brock kissed his lover's head then closed his eyes and allowed sleep to overtake him.
"Please," Kieran whimpered. Brock woke with a start. Kieran was still beside him and he was sweating bullets. "Please Felix."
"Fuck," Brock whispered pulling Kieran close. "Kieran can you hear me. It's Brock."
Kieran's eyes meet Brock's "Please Brock," he whimpered.
Brock leaned forward and kissed Kieran gently. "I'll do my best sweetheart." He pulled Kieran as close to his body as he could then kissed down his face until he reached his neck. Then with all the energy he had he push as much good feeling into Kieran as he could.
The red head's whimpering began to lessen and Brock let out a relieved sigh.
"I'll be your good boy," Kieran whispered clearing drugged now.
"Okay, for your first task I want you to go back to sleep," Brock said kissing his lover once more. Kieran's eyes closed and five minutes later his breathing began to settle and Brock knew he was asleep. Only problem was now Brock couldn't sleep.
He got up and attached Kieran to the bed before heading to the kitchen. It was 9:07 according to the clock on the microwave. Brock poured himself a bowl of cereal then found his cell so he could call Finian.
The doctor answered on the first ring with a "Hey," which was his usual greeting.
"Kieran is alive," Brock said figuring he'd jump right into it.
"Oh. Well where is he?"
"In my bedroom. Listen, I need you to come give him a once over then I'm going to need you to hold down the fort for me for a few weeks."
"Brock, Chloe is your second… shouldn't you be asking…"
"No. Chloe put the whole team in danger by going behind my back to question Kieran. So she's been demoted," Brock growled.
"Okay, fine, don't get pissy with me, I'll be at yours shortly."
Brock hung up the phone without another word then went back to his room to check on Kieran. He was still asleep. Brock gently got in the bed and pulled his red head closer to him. Kieran opened his eyes a bit and looked up at Brock. "I love you, Brock."
The older man smiled. "Shh…" he whispered.
"I mean it."
Brock sighed. He didn't believe the man at all. "Kieran, we can talk about it later okay."
"I knew you wouldn't believe me. I've screwed up to much… but I'm just… I don't know, but I know I love you. I'm so sorry."
"Just go to sleep, my love," Brock said trying not to get irritated.
Kieran seemed to calm down then he scooted as close to Brock as possible and let his head fall onto the man's shoulder. Brock thought that was it until Kieran spoke again. "Will you fuck me Brock? Mark me as yours again?"
Brock flipped their positions so Kieran's body was beneath his. "No. I'm not ready for that. It's going to take you a while to earn my trust back."
Kieran's face fell as Brock figured it would. "I just want to feel you. Right now all I can feel is him…"
"Who?" Brock asked wiping a tear off the younger man's face.
"I'm sorry," Brock whispered leaning down to plant another gentle kiss on Kieran's lips. Kieran tried to deepen it, but Brock pulled away. "The answer is still no."
Kieran turned his head to the side as if he was ashamed and Brock got out of the bed. "Finian will be here soon to give you a physical. Felix said that your wrist was broken but that he fed on he enough that it healed quickly?"
"Well, Finian will make sure it healed properly. Okay."
"Yes," he groaned.
Brock sighed and walked back to the bed. He attached Kieran's arm once move to the head post. "You get some sleep. I'll wake you when Fin gets here."
"I'm not sleepy," Kieran pouted. Brock didn't listen he just walked out of the room and closed the door behind him.
"Red officially staying here then?" Kiki asked appearing out of nowhere.
"It would appear that way," Brock smiled making his way to the living room and flipping on the TV before flopping down onto the couch.
"Well that's nice," Kiki said sarcastically before disappearing.
"You leave him alone!" Brock warned the air he heard a giggle in response.
He watched TV in a sort of trance, not really sure what he was watching and not really caring, until he heard Finian's bike pull up outside. He met the good doctor at the door.
"So how's he doin?" Finian asked putting his riding gloves on the back of the couch.
"Fine, he's asleep."
Finian nodded. "And how are you doing?"
Brock shook his head. "I'm relieved and angry at the same time. It's really confusing."
"I bet, well I guess I'll take a look at him?"
Brock led Finian to his bedroom and was surprised when he opened the door and Kieran wasn't in the bed but by the window with one leg out it.
"Oh…hey… I was getting some fresh air?" The red head tried. Brock narrowed his eyes. This man was going to be the death of him he just knew it.
