On her birthday
We would hand over presents
And cards
Smile and laugh
She would hug us and cry
Laugh at silly cards
Cry at the sweet ones
Just like any other birthday

On her birthday
We would get up early
Sneak into the kitchen
To make breakfast for her in bed
We would come in singing
She would act surprised
Even though she knew it was coming
Just like any other birthday

On her birthday
We would joke
About how she was only 26
No way she was 40 something
Just like any other birthday

On her birthday
Today
We can't do those things
We can't celebrate with her
She gets to party with Jesus
I wish we could celebrate with her too
Just like any other birthday
