Tanya lived in a kingdom of mangle and broken. Her father was a servant who died along with the queen, the king raised her as if she was his own. She grew up looking through her window seeing the broken streets and houses that lay beyond them, not that the palace was any different, in fact the only thing different about the palace was it's size, it was the largest building in the kingdom, of course it too was rotting and breaking, the forest they got lumber from was full of dead trees. "It is the dragon's curse" said an old lady with a sack on her back. "It took the land and it took the queen, it will soon take you too." The people of the kingdom however were productive, each one had a certain job, clothiers , metalsmiths, farmers, merchants, bards, woodsmiths, escorts and the kitchens were filled with butchers, bakers, brewers and all sorts of chefs.
The people of the kingdom were happy, despite living in a rotting home, they had nice clothes, a productive culture, active children and friendly people. The king was not happy, he was happy for his kingdom, but he slipped into a deep depresion when the queen died, he loved her like no such other. Tanya would enter his chamber from time to time, she never liked to see her father sad. However one day the knights returned from a mission, they were battered, dishelved and some had blood dripping from their armour. The king came out to great them, but they bring him bad news. "Sir, a fierce creature has blocked out path." The leader of the knights said "we could not fight it off and it killed most of us." One of the knights dropped dead, and the king was about to fall down himself, Tanya kept him from falling over, however at that moment, the beast that the knight spoke of arrived. The people ran for their lives. The beast was huge, it had dragon wings and a ram head, the tail was skeletal and emiting blue fire, it turned to look at Tanya and the king, it's eyes were glowing a greenish orange colour and it's teeth were sharp and seemingly glittered in the took a deep breath and spewed out fire and lighting, it grabbed the king in it's claws and flew away.
"Daddy!" Tanya yelled, she started to cry, a bard went to comfort the princess, but nothing could be done, tears were falling from her face as if she was trying to make a river. For many nights the beast was almost engraved in her memory, she was only six when she had to accept the king was her new father, she never would have thought thatfour years later she'd have to cope with not having a father. Every night the kingdom could hear her cry, nothing could cheer her up, no toys, no sweets, no stories nothing, it was clear she was devastated. She wanted her father back, she didn't care if he wasn't her real father, he was there when she needed somebody.
The head of the knights approached her and said "My men are ready to follow the beast, most of us remember where we encountered him, and we will get your father back out we will die trying."
"No" said tanya "I want to go, I want you to remain here, in case the beast comes back."
"But my lady, we should at least send a good warrior with you" suggested the kngiht "it is dangerous out there."
"I want my daddy, and if I have to wait one more day, I'm going to start wishing that the beast took me instead."
