Barefoot Adventures

Together the four brothers held hands

And walked further into the cool water,

Never once looking back at those

They would be leaving for good.

The red sun beckoned them forward

To the peak where heaven kissed earth,

The distance vast between the waterfalls,

Beyond, rough mountains to overcome.

The tree of life sat idly by, sucking

Holy water through raised, gnarled roots.

The children passed before it,

It waved them on in silent reassurance.

Hand in hand, barefoot,

Never once looking back,

Four brothers did journey forth,

Seeking solace in their promised land.
