The words I want to say
are clinging onto my ribs,
harbored in my lungs in cesspools of
broken letters and meaningless symbols.
.
The hope I thought I had
is aching in the thoughts I want
to have for myself
and not for everyone else.
.
Don't you know?
Don't you know that I'm bleeding?
Can't you see?
Can't you see me in the ocean-
I'm drowning in the sand,
my lungs are drying from the heat
you used to give me.
My heart is fried from the grease
from the oil spills
from my sinking ships.
.
I saw your light from afar.
You shined just like the brightest star.
Who would have thought that you were the jetty?
The rocks were always meant to hurt me.
.
Don't you know?
Don't you know that I'm bleeding?
Can't you see?
Can't you see me in the ocean-
I'm drowning in the sand,
my lungs are drying from the heat
you used to give me.
My heart is fried from the grease
from the oil spills
from my sinking ships.
.
I'm drowning from the fire that you sparked.
I never thought you'd grow into my heart.
The tides are ripping me apart,
and I don't know where lies the sun.
I'm done with trusting pebbles
when I should've tried to run.
Is my only use my fallen flag?
All the colours and cloth are faded to rags.
.
Don't you know?
Don't you know that I'm bleeding?
Can't you see?
Can't you see me in the ocean-
I'm drowning in the sand,
my lungs are drying from the heat
you used to give me.
My heart is fried from the grease
from the oil spills
from my sinking ships.
