I saw myself that night –
torn into pieces and scattered,
tossed in the wind,
like pages from the holy bible I ripped to shreds to spite my father,
my eyes never leaving his, locked in some deadly battle,
fighting for dominance like two lions, their manes
as large as our egos, ballooning out like dictators,
standing firm that we rule this land, we rule this palace,
we rule each other's provocations,
daring the other to dare the other to
suddenly
make a move.
whoever blinks first loses EVERYTHING.
