Body and wings shaped like a nightjar,

Head and beak of a mighty owl,

Brown and white-barred pattern of feathers,

Feeder on insects and meat alike,

He glides through the sky like a hang glider,

And swoops down to take his prey on the wing.

With a big throat like a frog,

And big, all-seeing eyes,

The nightowl can gulp down meat in a flash,

While croaking like a noisy toad.
