Sharon Leigh had devoted her entire life to Christianity. She was more than a nun, she was a strong and spirited servant of righteousness. One tragic day, Sharon gave herself to a mortal man. As much as she wanted to stop the affair, Sharon knew that her heart couldn't bear the thought of living without him. Instead of leaving her faith, Sharon continued to give her blissfulness to the world. The guilt, though subtle and dormant, was slowly taking control of her life.

One afternoon, Sharon decided to tell her friend about the affair. Rose Lane was a married woman, but she was also betraying her faith. Because of her promiscuous nature, Rose sought to give Sharon sinful advice. As the darkness covered the sky, the two women talked about their lust for men.

"Sharon, don't feel guilty," Rose stated.

"You have to understand, I never wanted this to happen," she whimpered.

"It's going to be fine," Rose replied.

"It's not that I don't love him, it's just that I can't abandon my faith," she stated.

"Trust me, you will be forgiven," Rose replied.

"How do you know that?"

"Just because you fell in love, doesn't mean that you will be punished. If I were you, I'd stop worrying about this."

"That's easy for you to say," Sharon replied.

"What do you mean?"

"Rose, as your friend, I must tell you the truth."

"What is the truth, exactly?"

"You've been sinning all of your life. Despite the fact that your husband has given you everything, you still play around with that drunken, awful man! You're more than a slut, you're a soulless, mindless whore!"

"What did you call me?"

"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to use that kind of language," Sharon stated.

"Look, I'm only trying to help, that's all," she exclaimed.

"The next time you try to help me, make sure that you actually have good advice," Sharon stated.

Frustrated and depressed, Sharon left the room. Later that night, Sharon approached a trusted priest and adviser. Like Sharon, Rick Nelson had devoted his entire life to Christianity. He wanted, more than anything else, to help Sharon Leigh. As Sharon entered Rick's office, she noticed that he was looking very depressed.

"I must speak with you," Sharon stated as she touched his shoulder.

"What's troubling you?"

"I'm in love," she answered.

"It's not a crime to love someone, is it?"

"I want to be his wife," she stated.

"Is that really what you want?"

"More than anything," she stated.

"Sharon, I'm not talking to you as a priest, I'm talking to you as a friend. If you want to marry him, then you have my blessing. To be perfectly honest, I've loved you all my life, I was just too afraid to tell you."

"Do you mean that, Rick?"

"Before you give yourself to him, make sure he's a kind, honest man. If he isn't, he will never make you happy. I love you, but the real question is, does he love you?"

"I never knew that you loved me this much," Sharon replied.

"You must go to him," he stated.

The following morning, Sharon visited her boyfriend. As Sharon entered the apartment, she felt hopeful and satisfied.

"Fred, I have some good news," she exclaimed.

"News? What news?"

"After careful consideration, I've decided to renounce my faith," she answered.

"Sharon, I never thought you would go through with it," he replied.

"From now on, you're the most important person in my life," she exclaimed.

"Are you sure about this?"

"I'm sure, believe me, I'm sure," she answered.

"Tell me, why do you love me so much?"

"Because you're kind, because you're honest, because every time that I look at you, I see hope and freedom. You are, without a doubt, the perfect man for me," she stated.

"Wow, I never knew that you felt that way about me."

"Until today, I didn't know I felt that way," Sharon sighed.

"Well, why don't we celebrate?"

Excited and happy, the couple kissed. For the first time in their very complex relationship, they made passionate love. The following morning, Sharon rejoiced as she sipped her coffee.

"Ever since I met you, I've been unable to think of God," Sharon stated.

"You know, this doesn't seem real," Fred replied as he sipped his milk.

"Well, if this is, indeed, a dream, then I never want to wake up," she stated.

Suddenly and without warning, Sharon started to feel uneasy. Not knowing what to do, she attempted to get out of the bed. Before too long, Fred was also feeling very sick.

"I can't breathe," she cried.

"What did you drink?"

"I had coffee, that's all," she answered.

"I feel terrible," he whimpered.

"Fred, I think we've been poisoned," she stuttered.

"That's insane!"

"Who could've done this?"

"I can't breathe," he whimpered.

Sharon sighed as her body landed on the bed. Before he could react, Fred joined his girlfriend. Within seconds, they were dead. After a few days of searching, the police finally located them. Not knowing the identity of the murderer, the police launched a full investigation. Before too long, they had located the obvious suspects. Tired and depressed, Rick and Rose entered the police station.

"I'm Tony Blake," the detective announced as they entered his small office.

"Tell me, Mr. Blake, why are we here?" Rose asked.

"Both of you knew Sharon Leigh, correct?"

"She was my best friend," Rose stated.

"Mr. Nelson, how did you know Sharon Leigh?"

"We worked together," he answered.

"Were you close?"

"Sometimes, she would seek my advice," he answered.

"Did she ever talk about her boyfriend?"

"She mentioned him."

"When did she mention him, exactly?"

"I don't know," he answered.

"Did you love her?"

"She was my friend, nothing more," he exclaimed.

"You're lying," Tony stated.

"Even If I did love her, what does that prove, exactly?"

"For one thing, it proves that you had a motive for killing Sharon Leigh. At the same time, it also proves that you, despite being a loyal priest, are capable of lying to a detective. Now, for the last time, did you love her?"

"Yes," he answered.

"Did you fuck her?"

"What kind of question is that?"

"Answer the question!"

"No," he answered.

"Stop shouting," Rose commanded as she circled the room.

"Mrs. Lane, I know that you must be bothered by all of this. To tell you the truth, I don't think you're guilty."

"Why?"

"When I look at you, I don't see any guilt. That, more than anything else, proves that you're innocent of this horrible crime. Most criminals, no matter how dishonest, cannot hide their guilt, at least, not for very long."

"Can we go?" Rick asked.

"Sure, you can go, but don't think that you won't be back," Tony stated.

That night, Rose smiled as she kissed Rick nelson.

"That detective was right about one thing," she stated.

"What is that?"

"I don't feel any remorse," she stated.

"Tell me, how can you be so cruel?"

"What can I say? It's my nature," she laughed.

"Tell me, will you ever go back to your husband?"

"Not now, not ever," she answered.

"Did we really have to kill them?"

"I thought Sharon was my friend, I guess I was wrong," she stated.

"What do you mean?"

"She insulted me, and because of that, she had to pay," Rose sighed.

"You know that I loved her, right?"

"Yes, but, in the end, you loved me more, right?"

"At the end of the day, you're the only woman for me," Rick stated.

The End
