An "Un-Friendly" Duel

Two fighters stood at a lonely path. Both eyes stare at each other, waiting for the next move. Both fists clenched, waiting for a strike. Both share the same aggressive look, the same look of a killer.

The first man is stands rigid, straight, and disciplined while maintaining a combat stance. Two pistol holsters rests on his thighs and a vest full of pouches stay on his torso. His strange and battle ready eyes gaze upon his opponent. Notable red eyes that is deeper than crimson, eyes that shows a man who gone through hard challenges and suffered losses despite looking like a thin teenager. He brandishes his machete and knife, knowing that this fight will be won under seconds.

His opponent faced him with nothing more but with a gun and determination. His face shows that he is not to be underestimated. His sharp eyes scanned his enemy; the man seems to be more than what he looked like. Even if he looks like he is dress on rags, his stance has a hint that he is trained in combat… more likely, it looks like he experienced combat. Instead of getting his knife, he brought out a sniper rifle. But something tells more about this man, he's posture is to classy, bearing the possibility that he is a rich man disguising himself as a poor hunter.

Both parties know that this fight only has one person going out.

"You know, I've done nothing wrong soldier boy." Said the sniper, he spat at the ground and chewed nothing. His hands traced the metal work of his sniper rifle, caressing it like it was his lover. He looked back at his opponent, mirroring the same intimidating eyes he has.

"Che… you are in violation of Section 2, Items 2 and 9 of DPK Institute Rules. You have murdered innocent men and caused a massacre lately. You also guilty of abusing your maid, eye witnesses says that you would use her as a human shield in dispatching your aggressors." The military man replied. He has no intent on switching his weapons regardless of his enemy's weapon.

"In what government, I refuse to believe this DPK Institute that you're talking about!" Clearly, the defending party is dripping venom in his words. His hand gripped the sniper rifle's hand-guard tighter. The trigger finger tucked itself near the sniper rifle's trigger guard.

"Don't worry, you don't need to know… but the only thing you should know is, that you are about to get an eternity in hell." The military man broke the ice by making the first move. He sprinted, no… rather, he dashed forward. He zooms through the path like a horse; with killer intent in his eyes nothing could stop his charge.

The sniper was caught off guard by the military man's retort. He quickly aligned his sniper rifle at the speeding figure, clicks his tongue in frustration, and held his breath for the shot. With a mechanical click from pressing the trigger, the rifle fired its delayed shot. A boom escaped the barrel's lip, launching a supersonic anti-armor round. Though through sheer wits and luck, the military man had anticipated the bullet's flight path and performed some evasive maneuvers he learned through his brutal training. The bullet missed its target and hit an unfortunate tree, blasting its bark into splinters.

The military man couldn't help it but be surprised when he heard a loud clap from the bullet's impact, normally; it would have matched advanced military standards. He smirked as he faced his enemy with new motives.

'It looks like that this man is using high-tech military grade weapons, if that would have hit me then I'm good as dead. Adding Item 1 would increase this man's charges, if I only could get closer and take him down painfully without killing him.' Thought the military man, and as usual, he is interrupted by another boom from the sniper rifle. He dodged it once more, closing the distance between the two fighters. Still, even if he has better training than the sniper, he knows that within this range he could guarantee that he could not survive.

The sniper was having a bad day; he really is having a bad day. First he had his life crashing down into a roller coaster, now this man out of nowhere decided to show up and is trying to kill him. What he didn't know was that he is to be taken down, painfully.

'Dayum, that man got some skills. I have to chamber the rounds faster or I'll have to resort to pea shooters or my hands.' he thought. He quickly removed the spent brass in his rifle and loaded a new one in just a few seconds. The sniper breath slowly as the aimed for the killing shot, unfortunately, the military man got to him faster than he expected. He was shocked at the speed; it took him around forty seconds to reach him despite of how far they were, this caused him to fire another round in reflex. The said round missed again, cutting a branch in the foliage.

The military man chuckled as he got the sniper cornered; he raised his machete to cut his shoulder and the other to stab his arm in order to put him out of commission. Once the knife landed he didn't expect that the sniper would block it. He grit his teeth in annoyance, the sniper smirked at the display. The military man got a hard kick to the stomach and a bone breaking chop in his neck. Luck saved the military man for he had nanonites support and regenerative properties, making him toe-to-toe with wrestling an elephant, but unfortunately his enemy in front has something in his bones that would withstand his brute, lab-experimented, strength.

"That hurt soldier boy… did your mommy sent you to lab instead of a school?" The military man shifts his hand and legs. All weapons aimed for the disabling blow. The sniper retaliates by slinging his sniper rifle and keeping on his back, he checks his enemy's move and flow around him like water. He kicks the military man's legs, causing his opponent to hit the ground. He kicks his hands until his opponent releases his weapons. He kicks him again in the stomach, rolling him, facing him towards the sky. After that, he placed his boot at his neck applying more and more pressure to torture his aggressor, still preserving that killer look on his eyes.

"Looks like you got… me… I shouldn't have made mistakes." The military man smiled as his face flustered in embarrassment. The sniper just laughed at the man he humiliated. He applied more pressure on his foot. Normally, it would have broken his opponent's neck but he knew that his opponent is unnatural.

"You shouldn't have attacked me…" The sniper stared at the name on his enemy's dog tags. "Campbell… people who tried died multiple times due to my marksmanship but you are the first one to be defeated by me through hand to hand combat. Do you have any last words?" The sniper sealed the deal with sigh. He is still placing more pressure to Campbell's neck.

The military man, Campbell, closed his eyes and said his with his final word.

"Bang."

Unknown to the sniper, Campbell had his flash bang primed and ready. With a flick of his finger, the last pin was pulled off. He throws the tactical grenade in the air and kept his eyes closed. It was a second late when the sniper noticed the flash bang and Campbell's smirk. He released his leg and covered his eyes. Just when the loud deafening bang pounded on both of the men's ears, Campbell took the opportunity to bring the sniper down to the ground. He got up and brandished his pistol.

The sniper saw Campbell pull out a pistol, but he never encountered one of these kinds of pistols. The one before him looks an extremely modified mix of an H&K and a Desert Eagle. He saw Campbell pressed something on the pistol, causing it to change the grey linings into yellow. He hears a muffled voice from the pistol, words like… non-lethal… nevertheless, he perform a sweep kick to bring Campbell down. Only to feel sharp pain on his abdomen but he didn't smell the old smell of blood, he looked at his abdomen and found no traces of blood; instead he saw a scorch mark on his abdomen. His eyes perks up as he only felt the presence of two more people heading towards them.

'Maria? I could thank her for noticing my absence, but who is the other one?' The sniper thought as he proceeds to disarm Campbell of his weapon. He grabs his special light burst grenade from his pockets and detonated them in front of Campbell's face, this only staggers his opponent and it's not strong and deafening like the flash bang but it works like a charm. He stood up and wrestles the pistol from a dazed Campbell. Campbell snapped out of his stunned state and punches the sniper on the stomach. He gave another punch then he kneed him in the same spot, causing the sniper to flinch in pain and surprise.

The sniper grabs Campbell's arm right when he is going to land a punch on him then twisted it. Campbell reversed the attack by spinning around, preventing getting pinned. He pulls out a taser, effectively shocking the sniper. Campbell brought the man to the ground and pinned him. He sighed, he lists his options and check was is the best thing to do to the sniper. He searched the paralyzed combatant and found his ID; Well… it's his passport. Not only that, other goodies and weapons in his person were confiscated by Campbell.

"Right then mister King… since you retaliated with illegal advanced weaponry and you would have kill me when I offered a peaceful resolution, I am sorry that I'll have to kill you now. Don't worry; it will be quick and painless." Campbell grabbed his pistol and set it to lethal mode; he pressed the tip of the pistol in between the eyes of King. Just as when he was about to press the trigger, he hear a crashing of ceramics against the ground and a gasp.

He turned around and saw a maid wearing a face full of horror. Her hands covering her expression of shock and her legs trembled in fear. It only took a moment for her knees to give up, all you could her from her is her stammering.

"Mmm-ma-master?"

Another figure appeared; an exotic blonde hair woman came out in a flash of light and stared at Campbell. She clicked her tongue and came closer. Campbell himself was surprised that his partner was here, but his expression is replaced with nothing but pain as he failed to dodge his partner's slap.

"Sammy… how come you were careless about that so called 'witness'? I had to 'persuade' him to tell me the truth when you bluntly accepted his lies. We are bringing that man to a hospital right now, and next time, be wary of your surroundings." The woman let a frustrated sigh escaped her lips. She didn't give Campbell anytime to respond, she just 'levitated' him with her magic.

"Athena… I could explain!" Campbell exclaimed, only to hit the ground at break-neck speed.

"No need for an explanation, mistakes are always punishable regardless of our ranks. You will need to explain this to High Command, not me." Athena turned to the maid and bowed in a humble way. "I am sorry for this man's mistake, please accept my apologies."

The maid nods in acceptance, Athena looked up and smiled. She walk towards the maid and shook her hand. With a flick of her finger, she teleported a phone to her hands and called for an ambulance.

In the end, no one won that duel. It was only interrupted by two women, a maid and a mysterious woman. The following day, Campbell apologize his actions and bad conduct towards King and has agreed to be demoted from Captain down to 1nd Lieutenant. He later repaid King by providing community service in the city he was living in despite that they are a million light-years away.

King in the meantime had his weapons confiscated, but it didn't stop him to buy a hunting rifle and went out to hunt for monsters and animals. He also had trained his maid, Maria in combat, so in the moment he needed backup he has her by his side.

In other news, Athena enjoys her company with Campbell. She also helps him going through trials but sometimes nags his mistakes. Unknown to both parties, they triggered something that would change their worlds.
