There Was a Place

There was a place not far from here,

Gone long,

Far gone,

Dispelled.

Where clouds were cotton candy pink,

Did gleam

Where dreams

Once dwelled.

Feathered leaves like dragon's wings

Sky high

Flew by

Now felled.

The elated laughs of children done,

No tune

Too soon,

All quelled.

Replaced with canopies of grey

Which say:

Decay,

Neglect.

And time is gone within a blink,

Begun,

Undone,

Affect

A future draped in hope so grim,

In plight

Incite,

Reflect.

Upon the place not far from here,

To mourn,

Forlorn,

Is wrecked.
