ANOTHER CHANCE
Prologue: Lost
Nationals 2014
Chicago
Rebecca Marie Dorsey, only daughter of pairs ice skating gold medalists Michael Dorsey and Jaqueline Van Burgh - Dorsey, knew she had it in the bag.
The other skaters were good but she knew she nailed it and when her scores were announced, she could not contain the joy she felt at besting the others.
Runs in the family right?
"Congratulations, Becca. I'm so proud of you." Her father's smile was from ear to ear.
"I think it's to be expected since I'm being coached by the sport's two greatest skaters." Becca beamed.
"Who knew you ever listened to what we say?" Despite her mother's remark, Jacqueline, or Jackie, as she was called, was smiling and pride could not be hidden from her face.
Her fiance, Zak Davis, a hockey player currently playing for the US team, hugged her tight. "You were amazing!" Zak's smile was the same as her father's. It was from ear to ear.
"Let's get out of hear before reporter's descend on us." Michael's words rang true as they were chased by reporters to the exit.
Since Zak bought his car, all of them decided that it would be better if Becca went with him.
"I thought they'd chase us everywhere." Becca chuckled on the passenger seat when they were on the road going back to the hotel.
Unfortunately, Becca spoke to soon as Zak noticed three sets of headlights following them.
"This is unbelievable!" She felt her temper rise.
"Well you are skating's darling... At least for this year." Zak tried to joke.
"Eyes on the road, buddy!" Was Becca's only reply.
When Zak returned his attention to the road ahead, another car cut them off. He tried to maneuver so that they wouldn't hit the car and it's flashing windows but instead, Zak hit a hydrant at about ninety miles an hour.
The front of the car was crushed with the hydrant almost slicing it in two.
Because Becca was wearing a seatbelt, she hit her head hard on the dash. Her left leg caught in the mangled metal. Zak wasn't wearing a seatbelt so he was thrown through the window, fifteen feet from the car.
Becca came to a minute later and saw the dash in front of her smashed with a big hole in the middle of it. Beside her Zak was gone.
Despite her head hurting and bloodied, she looked around and saw Zak lying a distance from the car not moving.
"Zak!" What came out of her mouth was barely a croak.

Same Night
Illinois
Aftet a long day of setting up the most complicated security system in the whole of the state at the mansion of the famous actor Scott Michelson, Samuel "Sam" Spencer of Blue Moon Security put his feet up while waiting for his partner Alex Thornton and watching television in the security room they set up for the actor.
Just as the news was about to start was the time that Alex entered the room.
"Hey, how's outside?" He asked.
Alex gave him a thumbs-up sign. "Quiet. I think we'll be done by tomorrow. Scott'll be able to hire his own guards."
Sam and Alex founded Blue Moon Security with the intention of having it seen as a progressive security firm, offering packages of both or either systems and man power to their clients.
Scott Michelson only paid for the system not the man power.
"Watcha watchin'?" Alex asked.
"Just trying to see the results of the Nationals in Chicago. It's tonight." Sam smiled.
"Boy, since you dated that girl back when we were college, you've been really interested in figure skating."
Sam laughed. "Hey! It's not bad. You get to look at pretty women in skimpy costumes."
"This just in!" Interrupted by the reporter on the tv.
"Why do I have a bad feeling about this?" Alex asked to no one in particular concerning the report.
"Skating's darling, two-time singles women's champion, Rebecca Dorsey and her fiance, hockey star, Zak Davis, were in an accident just about an hour ago..."
"Oh my God..." Alex just covered his mouth with his hand.
As the details of the accident was reported, Sam stood up.
"... Rebecca Dorsey has been rushed to the hospital and is now in the ICU while Zak Davis was pronounced dead on the scene..."
This is a tragedy. Rebecca Dorsey is a favorite, both by Sam personally and by the public. She's one of the two top picks to go to the Olympics.
What will happen to the world of figure skating now that this happened?
