Chapter Twenty
"I love you." Damn every time that woman says those words I swear I could just fall to my knees and cry like a baby. Three words from heart could really kill a man.
It had taken every ounce of strength not to go into the ladies room and pull my wife out. Wife. Just saying the word was getting me hard. I had made so many adjustments all day I was starting to lose the battle quickly. Why do weddings have to be so damn long?
My daughter Patricia was having the time of her life. The skirt of her lavender dressed seemed to float around her little legs as she ran from one end of the reception hall to the other. She kept the guests pleasantly entertained as she
I know she was nervous. As beautiful as everything turned out to be there were still more people in attendance than she liked. To make everyone happy she had went along with their decisions. I wanted to pull her from the circus but getting into our first fight at our reception was not how I wanted to start our wedding night.
Once the cake was cut and we dance a couple dances, we kissed Patricia goodnight leaving her the very capable hands of aunts, uncles and grandparents. I held her close in the back of the limo as he sped through the night to the airport. I could feel her nervousness and applied small kisses to her neck and chin to help her relax.
I was just inching my hand under her dress when we arrived at the airport. Whatever strings David had pulled were still in play as we were barely seated on the plane when the pilot told us to buckle up as we began to taxi across the tarmac.
Once in the air all bets were off. Since I had changed our original plans from staying the night at the Sheraton to leaving immediately for our honeymoon Diane had not had a chance to change from her wedding gown. The private room in the back of the Learjet decorated just like the Prinledge mansion. The large bed was the focal point with a few elegant pieces throughout. At least that was what Diane told me once I finally let her get a good look at the room. Before she could start oohing and aahing over the room I wanted her moaning and keening at the sight of me.
With her back to me I began the tedious process of unbuttoning her gown. Didn't anybody use zippers anymore? Just knowing what was pushing against my zipper trying to get out was working my patience. As each piece of skin was exposed I kissed it. Beads of sweat were forming on my forehead as each sigh sweetly touched my ears.
"Patrick hurry or I might just tear my dress off the rest of the way," she whimpered.
Once the beastly buttons were dealt with the dress came easily away from her body. Beautiful. Her demi cup bra and matching thong made me want to jump up and down like a kid who got exactly what he wanted for Christmas. She started to cross her arms over herself and I stopped her progress.
"You're just a beautiful as the day I first laid eyes on you." Seeing relief in her eyes I continued to look in them as I removed her underwear. "Simply gorgeous and I am sure you still taste delicious."
I enveloped one chocolate morsel into my mouth while pinching the other between my thumb and forefinger. Her moans grew as I suckled harder and then switched to the other breast.
"You have too many clothes on Patrick. I need to touch you." I stood slowly kissing my way up her body until our lips met again. I pulled back and let her remove shirt and tie. When her hands went to my pants I had to focus on my breathing.
"Boy oh boy have I missed you," she huskily said as she moved her hand up and down my length. I wasn't going to make if I allowed her to continue. Removing her hands and kissing her pout I stepped out of my pants and underwear. I picked her up and carried her to the bed. Laying her on top of the comforter I started over kissing first her lips and then working my way down her body. I reacquainted myself with the body that kept me up most nights these past four years.
I moved between her legs and grinned harder than the Cheshire cat as her hands reached down and grabbed by hair. Yeah baby I'm going to deal with that ache that's been bothering you but first things first. My hand actually shook as I used one than two fingers to caress her silken folds. Slowly, gently just avoiding her bundle of love. I entered her leisurely preparing her body for me. I replaced my fingers with my tongue keeping the same rhythm knowing she was close as she almost pulled my hair out by the roots. I switched back to my fingers and finally moved my tongue upward. No coherent words from coming from her now and I knew the precipice was near. Her hands moved from my head to the bed spread and I drank every drop she had to give me. I didn't let her complete come down. I moved quickly up her body and entered her warm, wet core. God I was home. I didn't want to move. Perfection. Diane moved her hips and I followed suit. I brought her back to the cliff and this time we went over together.
One year later
"It was great seeing you Ken. I do hope you all will come back and visit again."
"Of course we will. I am looking forward to meeting my new niece or nephew."
"Nephew," I barked from the porch.
Everyone laughed but I didn't care.
"We have to make sure the cousins grow up close," Ken continued as he helped his wife into the car. He leaned into the back seat and checked on the twin girls already asleep in their carseats. "I hope they stay that until we land back in New Mexico."
"Honey they'll be fine I made sure to pack extra formula this time." Ken nodded and got into the driver's seat.
"Latonya it as good to see you too," Diane called out. I wrapped my arm around her ample waist and pulled her into my side.
"You too Diane. You call the minute the baby is born." I just smiled at the young woman my brother had arrived with six months ago. Diane had only told me that she had been a former client but I knew nothing at all about the woman that was now my sister in-law.
"You both will be the first we call," I heard my beautiful, glowing wife say. Diane had now made that promise to so many people I had a feeling the call would be the first largest conference about a baby's birth of all time.
I hugged Diane a little tighter as we waved goodbye. Never in a million years would I have thought that Ken would be married and out of the spotlight completely. When he had learned he was going to be a father he had worked vigilantly to extricate himself from the Fergusons' web and remove the woman he had fallen for from their influence.
Last we cared to pay any attention the Fergusons were sure wins for the party's ticket and would most likely be changing residence. I was ready to move my little family to Sicily and stay with Erica and her growing family if America's favorite political couple were going to cause any trouble. Because they needed all the support they could get Richard and Margaret were playing nice with David and released Latonya from under their thumb when Ken resigned from his post.
"Do you want me to remind you of all the people you've promised to call first once my son gets here?" Yeah, I was being a smartass.
Diane smiled her brilliant smile at me and playfully hit my arm. She now was understanding my struggle. Her parents of course should be on the list, definitely toward the top. Her new friends Winter and Summer were not to be denied calling her every day with some sort of advice or encouragement. Erica had even strong armed my wife into promises being first on the list. I laughed because most likely she would be going into labor at about the same time as Diane. I am not sure what they eat over in Sicily but her husband Antonio seemed to be on a mission to keep her pregnant. Baby number three would almost share the same birthday as baby number two.
The only one not clamoring for a prime place on the call list was David Prinledge. I would never admit this out loud but the prick wound up being not so bad. Diane referred to him as a dear friend and I tried to keep my little green monster at bay. I wasn't going to begrudge what had transpired while we were away from each other and his son Kyle was a great kid. David showed an entirely different level of decency when he allowed the kid to visit and still be a part of Diane's and Patricia's life.
"Your brother is looking well. Seems the private sector is agreeing with him."
"Yeah, he has learned to be content and stop trying to compare everything as better or not. Of course New Mexico is a great place to lay low and be inconspicuous."
"It was good to see you two together. I have a feeling New Mexico might be our next family vacation."
I just nodded and knew when she first asked me to reach out to my brother it stemmed from the much improved relationships she now had with her sisters. I hadn't jumped at the idea, still not trusting this new Ken but I know when you love someone and that possessiveness takes over the person you were has a way of changing and becoming better version of yourself.
I knew that feeling well. Each day waking up next to my beautiful wife and the sounds of our daughter running through the house renewed by faith in humanity again. I was looking forward to the additional sounds of my son and then maybe another daughter and son after that. We had both agreed we wanted our home to be filled with love laughter.
Our two weeks in Cancun had been the start of many best moments of my life. Diane had blushed profusely as we exited the plane feeling embarrassed that the pilot had had to wake us up prior to landing. I told Diane we were most likely very mild considering what some people do on planes.
The first few days we didn't leave the room. After that it was a toss up. We would either make love all day and go out at night. Or spend the day touring the tourist destination and make love all night. Win-win as far as I was concerned.
She moved my hand to her belly and I felt the baby playing soccer in her stomach. When she had learned she was pregnant she had laughed so hard she had started to cry. It had freaked me out. I had called Winter who proved to be just as useless. Brandon later called me asking what the hell was going on over to my house to cause his wife to almost drop their daughter Judith when she fell out of her chair laughing her head off.
Diane's laugh reminds me of singing. Its light and soft and seems to drift on the air. It stirs something my soul making believe I could sprout wings and fly anywhere I wanted.
"For the cage bird sings freedom."
I had just smiled and enjoyed the moment. No longer were we lost souls. No longer were we longing for a place to call home. We had found love and were now a family. Walking back into the house I offer up a silent prayer of thanks for my blessings and I pray that I will always cherish everything that had been given to me.
"Honey did you hear what I said,"
I tune back into the present and smile down at her.
"I said Winter said that it will be this evening when they bring Patricia back." The hooded look in her eyes told me all I needed to know.
"My wife needing some extra attention now that all the company is gone?" she placed her hand on my crotch and gave a gentle but firm squeeze.
"Nah, I just wanted to see if it still worked. Okay that question is answered." Is stood frozen for a moment as she walked away from me a quickly as her body would allow her. I saw she was headed for the bedroom and not truly trying to escape from me.
"Why you little tease," I charged after her.
She squealed with delight as I overtook her in our bedroom and showed her just how cherished and loved she will forever be to me.
The End
