A childhood fairytale

Stories of wonders

The magic of the ordinary

Not so ordinary

But the tales stop short

When meeting pain

Trials kept whispered under breath

Truth of conflicts

Is never really given

Betrayal and lies

Friendships falling to their demise

Forever friends?

What a lie

Then there are words spoken

So sharp they leave you bleeding

Sneered remarks and hateful stares

These are things

That kill childhood fantasies

That is what is in dreams

But while romance is described

Heartbreak never finds its way in

Worry is strong

Stress is constant

Plans must be made

Grades kept as A's

Choices hardly ever wait

But I suppose

That is simply how fantasies go

Childhood fairytales

Never are they true
