Acid rain hissed down, pocking and pitting stone and metal, dissolving unprotected flesh and flora. Steel shields were raised against the cruel onslaught to weary, determined soldiers with fell lights in their grim eyes. The host slogged on, ignoring the alliance of their bitter enemies and a broken Earth. Biting mud churned beneath iron shoes, as the land disappeared around them. Fleeing animals vainly sought shelter beneath tortured trees, the human host laboring along beneath the cruel storm.
