Hi~ I know I shouldn't be starting on a new story, but this idea was just too fun to play with.
Please take a chance on my story~ It might be better than the crappy description I wrote :D
She knows she should let go of her brother's arm now but she's not ready for it. She's not ready to make friends, she's not ready to be alone away from her brother, most of all she has no idea what she's doing in university.
Most of all she wishes her parents could be here with her right now.
"You ready?" She blinks away her discouraging thoughts when her brother tugs on her arms, her sleek black suitcase being tugged in his other hand.
She shakes her head because she doesn't feel she'll ever be ready for university, "Everyone seems to have their group of friends already, how am I going to find friends?"
"Marley, you're going to be fine," when she doesn't reply, his voice softens. "I promise."
She just gives him a smile and moves towards the entrance of her dorm.
It's as she expected, the room is white walls and dusty looking.
Her brother, the ever optimist just grins at her and tells her to take out the cloth to begin cleaning.
She just wants to bury herself in her blankets and sleep through everything but she knows university is going to start in a few weeks so she needs to start getting ready.
When they finally finish, the sun has set and her clothes are neatly hung in her closet.
Matt gives her a small smile and a pat on the head, "I need to go soon, Marls."
She tries to return his smile, to reassure him that she was going to be fine, so he wouldn't worry about her that much on his flight back home. "I'll send you off to the bus stop."
He nods and they both head off to the bus stop.
It pitch dark when they step foot out of her dorm.
Before Matt can even say anything, she lifts her hand to stop him. "I know it's dangerous, I'll go back once we reach pass the basketball court ok?"
He ruffles her hair with a laugh, "Take care of yourself, brat."
"Yes, yes, old man," she shoots back.
"I'm not that old yet," he gasps indignantly.
The giggle dies halfway when he stops abruptly, "I'll see you in a few months, sis."
She nods because her throat feels to tight, she knows her voice will crack if she tries to say anything. With one last hug, he disappears around the corner.
She wipes away the tears before anyone can see them and almost runs back to the safety of her room.
She was going to be fine, even if it killed her.
She doesn't know what to do with herself. There was nothing she needed to do.
She tried reading to distract herself, watching movies and even sleeping, but none of it worked.
She was too shy to go out and wander around campus to make friends as her brother suggested, it was too terrifying.
So she just sits on her bed, waiting for her brother to call her once he makes it safely back home from the airport.
When he finally calls her, she breaks down.
Maybe it was because of the laughter she hears from outside of her window or the conversations she hears from the other side of her door but she feels terrible.
She sobs pitifully into the receiver, wanting nothing more than to go home.
He stutters and stumbles with his words, not knowing how to comfort her through the phone.
When she calms down, his voice sounds hoarse to her, he tells her about the old friend of dad's he met on the plane.
Apparently her son went to the same university as her.
He asks her if she wants to meet them and she agrees enthusiastically because at least she'd have someone to rely on even if it was more reluctant on their side.
Matt sends her Carol's number and tells her to contact her.
She makes a face and grumbles when she realizes he can't see her through the phone, "I don't want to. I don't even know what to say."
He sounds relieved when he hears her pout, "I gave aunty Carol your phone number too, she said she'd contact you when she arrives home from the airport."
She feels relieved she doesn't have to be the one to reach out first.
She sudden vibration against her ears startles her out of relief, she puts her brother on speaker phone and reads the text.
"How should I respond? Aunty Carol texted me and asked me if I wanted to go out for dinner with them."
He chuckles through the phone, "Just tell her if you want to go or not, she doesn't bite."
She quickly replies with a yes because anything was better than being cooped up by herself.
She gasps when Aunty asks if it was ok to visit her dorm, she tells her yes because she's bad at making up excuses and it felt wrong to say no.
She quickly tells her brother bye and rushes to clean her room.
She's surveys the results of attempts on cleaning, it's as neat as she can do, but honestly it still looks like a complete mess.
She almost shrieks when she hears Aunty's voice along with two deeper voices, one complaining about the reason why they had to take some random girl to dinner.
When her phone vibrates with another text, she pushes the conversation she involuntarily heard and proceeds to just shove everything in her closet to the knock on her door.
She nervously smooths down her hair before she reaches for the door handle.
To say she's not ready for the sight in front of her door would be an understatement. The two boys in front of her door were gorgeous in their own ways. The taller one with shaggy brown hair and sparkling bright eyes, a grin that fit on his handsome features. The slightly shorter one with intense brown eyes and sculpted features.
She blinked and turned to their mother, gorgeous and tall, she assumed who was aunty Carol.
She quickly cleared her throat and squeaked out a hello. Carol gave her a kind smile and pulled her into a hug, "How are you doing sweetie?"
"I'm still getting used to the environment, Aunty Carol."
"Oh, just call me Carol."
She opens the door wider for the three to come in. When both brothers push themselves off against the wall, she can't help but stare.
"Why are they so tall?"
When the three begin to laugh, it's when she realized she said that out loud.
Her cheeks flush red with embarrassment as they walk into her room.
"Cute." She jerks her head to the shorter brother and he just gives her a small smirk.
Her face turns even redder, when the taller brother grins at her, an eyebrow lifting slightly.
She knows her cheeks are going to be on fire by the time the day ends.
