Chapter Two
CoED
Marc Katsu…
Finally, a break, Marc Katsu thought as he sat down in black stool chair behind the counter of The Mix, one of the many shops that surrounded CocoWalk. Since it was two days before Memorial Day, he knew this would be one of it's busiest days, the few days before a major holiday always was. He had just given two customized, fish surfboards to a set of twin girls. They were around eight and they wanted fun boards, but their mother wouldn't allow it since they were beginners.
Along with surfboards, they also got wetsuits that matched their surfboards, along with leashes and surfboard was. Marc remembered learning how to surf when he was six, he started out on a paddleboard and worked his way up to the funboard he currently owned. Klay and Alice can surf just as good, but it was definitely Marc's favorite sport. He couldn't wait for summer so he could ride down to Jacksonville Beach with his friends for a full day of surfing. Whenever he wasn't working, which would be on weekends. Now that school's almost over, he can work full days at The Mix instead of working after school and on Saturdays.
Just as Marc was about to take out his phone and turn on his BTS playlist, the jingle of the door opened again, but it wasn't a customer.
"Let's get food," Alice said, her honey-blonde hair bouncing in two ponytails. Marc rolled his eyes, wasn't she supposed to be working?
"Aren't you supposed to be working?" he asked.
"Duh, I am working, but I just got on break. I want something to eat," Alice stated.
"Well, I can't go. Dave's out and I need to stay behind until he gets back," Marc replied as he turned on his BTS playlist and Danger begun playing. "If you want me to join you so bad, then bring me some food and we can eat here."
"Can't. I'm meeting Cassie. You remember, Cassie, don't you?" Alice asked with a smirk. It didn't phase him as much as he thought, his best friend can have lunch with whoever she wanted too. The two worked together anyway, another reason why he didn't really care. He's been friends with Cassandra Lincoln aka Cassie, ever since they were in kindergarten. They both had different plans after graduating high school, but planned on studying in the same area. Cassandra wanted to go to UCLA in order to study Film & Television while Marc wanted to go to The Juilliard School in New York and be accepted into the Drama Division Actor Training Program.
"Of course I remember, Cassie, but as I've stated before, I can't leave while my supervisor isn't here," Marc stated matter of factly. Alice pouted her lip, he knew what Alice really wanted to do. She wanted to play matchmaker yet again. She's been trying to set Cassie and him within the past three years and it made Marc annoyed, he wasn't in love with his best friend and he's expressed this to his younger sister more than once.
"Fine, I'll stop by on my way back from lunch with Cassie and then you and I can gossip," Alice said as she put her purple and navy Skullcandy earbuds back in their proper spots. Klay had gotten them for her when her birthday came around not that long ago.
"I don't want to gossip, I don't gossip. Dave's coming back soon, so you should go," Marc stated. And he knew that more customers would be coming soon for almost everything the store offered. Good thing a sell was going on and that inventory day would be coming up next Wednesday.
"Fine. I'll see you later when it's time to go home," Alice said. Marc nodded as Alice turned on the music in her earbuds and walked out the store. He watched her head down the street from the store window before she turned left and disappeared. Glad that his little sister was finally gone, he turned his playlist back on and begun listening to Danger.

Taylor "T.J." Jirou…
"We need to figure out a group name," T.J. heard the youngest girl named Ashleigh pique up. They were still sitting in Klay's hangout space outside his bedroom, his new leader had just gone over the contracts he drew up weeks ago and had just perfected the night before. The contracts were to last the duration of the trainee period, which would be three years starting the Monday after school let out in June.
They would be working on physical training on Mondays and Wednesdays, singing and rapping in Korean on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and Fridays would be the day they would practice on their dancing. T.J. had known Klay ever since he was three and he knew when Klay was serious, and this time Klay was definitely serious. He knew all the work Klay was going to put into this group and he was excited to get started. Now that the formalities of signing a contract were out of the way, they could now get into some of the more fun stuff, such as picking out a group name.
"Well, there are four guys and four girls," T.J. stated as they begun thinking of a group name.
"What about CoED," the one named Haven replied. She was sitting next to Carlos and Jay, her curly hair in a small ponytail. She wore a RWBY snapback with her dark blue jeans and black tee. Out of all the girls, she was dressed in a somewhat tomboyish way.
"That's not a bad name," Klay said as he wrote it down in his notepad. "Does anybody else have any other suggestions?" The rest of the members shook their heads, they all liked the name CoED. "Alright then, I guess we're called CoED."
"So what are our roles?" Hayley asked as Haven got out her spot to get a water bottle from the mini-fridge. Hayley moved up from her seat next to T.J. and took the seat between his other two friends. "Do we even have an agency or are we going unlisted?"
"We're not going unlisted, The eight of us will be under Infinity Records," Klay stated. He put a hand up before Hayley could ask another question. T.J. witnessed Haven pinching Hayley on her right thigh as she sat down on the floor next to Ashleigh. "And before you ask, yes, I do own the label. The guys, MacKenzie, and I were already apart of it before we started the group. The only thing we released were mixtapes. Now that we've formed CoED with you three, we'll be able to release more music."
"OK, but what about our roles?" Hayley asked.
"I was just getting to that if you would be patient. Since the label is under my name and I am CEO, I'm going to be the leader. I'm also going to be main rapper and main dancer. Since we're a large group, we're going to need a co-leader and for that, I'm going to nominate Haven."
Haven looked up from her phone, where she was writing down notes. "Me? Why me?"
"You seem like you'll be a good co-leader," Klay stated. Haven nodded as he continued. "Haven will be lead rapper and lead dancer. Since she's also the oldest girl, she's the Jangnyeo. The oldest guy in the group is Carlos, so he'll be the Jangnam. He's also going to be one of the vocalists. Jay will be the rapper and one of the visuals. T.J. will be our first sub-rapper and vocalist. Hayley will be our main vocalist and dancer. MacKenzie will be our vocalist, second visual, and dancer. And finally Ashleigh will be our second sub-rapper, lead vocalist, and main dancer. And since she's the youngest, she'll make up the maknae line with me since I'm the second youngest."
"Wait, how old are you?" Hayley asked Klay.
"I just turned thirteen," Klay replied.
"Interesting," was Hayley's response.
"So our group name is CoED. We'll figure out the fandom name and everything else along the way, but for now let's just focus on training," Klay announced. "If anybody else doesn't have anything else to say, then our first successful meeting is adjourned."
"The meeting was fun," Ashleigh said as she was the first to get up. "I'll see you all again after Memorial Day." It wasn't long after she left that the others started filing out. Soon it was only MacKenzie and T.J. left.
"So why did you choose Haven as your co-leader?" MacKenzie asked as she and T.J. helped Klay clean. He was interested in knowing why as well, if anything he thought he was going to pick at least either Carlos or MacKenzie as a co-leader. Then again, Klay was never the one to be known as predictable.
"Because she's a great rapper, mainly," Klay replied simply. "When I saw her covers on YouTube, I had planned on making her my co-leader from the start."
"Simple enough," MacKenzie said as she placed all the water bottles in the outside recycling bin. "So how do you feel? You're getting close to fulfilling your goal."
"I feel good," Klay said. "I just don't want Hayley questioning my every move. It doesn't bother me know, but I want to stop it before it gets out of hand."
"Have Haven do it, they are cousins and I don't think she's the type to do favoritism," T.J. said. Klay nodded. When the three finished cleaning, T.J. left Klay to his own devices and made their way back home.

Klay Katsu…
The first thing Klay thought as he reached towards the front door of Haven's manor was just like the rest of the houses in the neighborhood-including his own-it was unique. The manor itself was a mixture between a Spanish Villa and a Colonial Manor. It was a pale yellow with black window frames and shutters. The circle driveway was made of deep red bricks with a brick red fountain in the circle. From the driveway up to the front door, the outlining was covered in bright, Honey Perfume Roses. It's a good thing Alice wasn't with him, she would have been admiring them for hours. When Klay reached the stained-glass, French front doors, he saw a small, yellow post-it note over the doorbell. Knock hard, don't ring. Repairman's coming on Tuesday, it read. So Klay knocked hard.
A moment later, the right side of the door opened and Klay saw a mini version of Havel. But instead of her hair being mahagony red and black, it was as black as coal and it wasn't as short either. It was longer, but tied in a ponytail. She wore a bright pink frilly skirt with a solid, turquoise shirt and pink and turquoise polka dots leggings.
"Who are you?" she asked, sounding like Haven, but not as serious.
"Klay, I'm looking for Haven," Klay said.
"Are you her boyfriend? If you are, then you can't go to her room. Well, you can't go in her room anyway, because you're a boy and she's not in her room. If you're looking for Haven, then she'll most likely be in her recording studio in the basement," the girl answered.
"Thanks," he said as she led him inside the house. Before he went past the mud room, the girl stopped him.
"No shoes, my Mom would freak if she spots dirt on her hardwood floors," the girl explained. Klay obliged and put his shoes on the rack labeled Guests. "Our cousins are visiting us today, they live two blocks over from us, but they visit regularly."
"That's nice," Klay said, trying to catch glances at each room of the house they passed. He noticed that the flooring was made of red oak, the walls were black with a white trim that lead to the kitchen, which was separated by an archway. He also noticed that the kitchen led into a second mud-room and then the backyard. The girl led him down the first flight of stairs into an entertainment room. The TV was on the latest Star Wars movie and two other pre-teens were sitting on the couch. The girl also had features similar to Haven while the boy had features similar to Hayley.
"Who's that?" the girl asked, turning around. The boy followed suit, giving a quick wave hello before turning back to his phone, where he was playing with an app. Like the other girl, her hair was coal-black, but it wasn't as curly as Haven's and his guide's. It was longer too with bangs. Unlike his guide, she wore a simple pair of sweatpants with an old T-Ara tee. She was the only one out of Haven and her twin who wore glasses.
"I don't know, he's Haven's friend," the other twin replied. "Is her light on?" She pointed to the basement.
"Nah, her and Hayley are just talking in the den," replied the one with the glasses. "By the way, I'm Victoria and she's Vanessa. Stephen is Hayley's brother."
"Oh, I thought I stated my name. My bad," Vanessa said. "Come on, I"ll show you the den." Klay followed behind Vanessa as the two walked down the steps and stopped at the basement door. Klay noticed a red light bulb that was currently turned off. Vanessa knocked.
"What?" Haven's voice asked on the other side.
"Some guy's here to see you," Vanessa stated. She then looked at Klay before continuing. "He's got blonde hair with silver streaks."
"Let him in," Haven said.
"Are you going to make out with him?" Vanessa asked.
"Just let him in before I kick your short ass." Vanessa rolled her eyes as she opened the door and then went back upstairs, leaving Klay to go in on his own. Klay opened the door further and realized that he had entered Haven's studio den. It was painted black and like the rest of the house, the flooring was made of red oak. The couch and armchairs were made of red leather and a black, cotton rug. The soundboard was one of the best soundboards in the country, it was almost as good as his.
"Hi, Klay," Hayley called out. She was wearing a light pink sundress. "What's up? How did you find out where Haven lived?"
"I gave him the address last night, he texted me and asked if he wanted to talk," Haven said. She wore a pair of dark blue jeans with a black halter-top. "Did my sister bother you too much?"
"She's not as bad as my sister, so it wasn't that horrible," he said. Haven patted to the spot between them and Klay sat down. "Your studio is nice."
"Thanks. It used to belong to my Mom, Up until she got pregnant with the twins, she was known for her singing. She even won a Grammy. Now she's retired, but she still teaches Musical Education at Barry University," Haven explained. "She still sings every now and then, but not full-force like she used too."
"Nice," Klay stated. "I came by to see if you were overwhelmed when it came to me asking you to be my co-leader yesterday."
"I wasn't overwhelmed, I was just shocked. I'm happy to be your co-leader," Haven said.
"Good, I'm sure you and I will make good decisions together," Klay said. He then turned to Hayley, he wanted to talk to her as well and was glad that she was here. "I think you and I should have a conversation."
"OK," Hayley said turning to him.
"I know that we've only been introduced only a few days ago, but we're going to get anywhere if you keep questioning my every move. When the time comes, I'm going to make certain moves and you are going to have to trust me without questions me. I am your leader, understand?" Klay asked her.
Hayley nodded. "Alright, I don't question your motives."
"Good. I have to help my Mom with some stuff for the barbeque tomorrow, so I'll see you on Monday at school. Training starts in two weeks," Klay said, standing up.
"Do you want me to walk you out?" Haven asked as she started to stand up.
"No thank you, I can see my way out. Goodbye."
"Bye."

Marc Katsu...
Since today was surprisingly slow-probably because it was the day before Memorial Day-his manager, Dave let him off. This was good because his Mom needed some stuff for the huge cookout tomorrow, so after a trip to the store, Marc came home to hear Klay's EXO playlist blasting throughout the house. Currently it was on one of his favorites, Playboy. When Marc made his way into the kitchen, he saw Klay and their Mom cleaning and dancing along to the song.
I see I didn't see much," Marc joked as he sat the bags on the newly clean counter. Klay placed the broom back as their Mom begun sorting through the bags. The kitchen was clean so the two walked into the other room as their Mom continued singing and humming.
"Is Alice home yet?" Marc asked as they sat down in the now spotless living room.
"No, she went out with Cassie earlier," Klay replied. "You do know she's trying to get you two to start dating, don't you?"
Marc nodded, she just asked him last night to invite Cassandra to the cookout tomorrow. He refused of course, because Cassandra was spending the day in Daytona with her own family. "Trust me, I know. How did the meeting go the other day? I was too tired to ask when I came back from work."
"The meeting was good, hopefully all of our meetings would be just as good," Klay said. "Do you want to hear what I've been working on?"
"You're letting me into your studio?" Marc asked. If there was anywhere nobody else was allowed in, it was his studio. He started building his studio when he was ten and the only person who was allowed in there at the time was Dad. Once it was built and furnished, nobody's been allowed in since.
"You better come before Alice comes home," Klay said. Marc got off the couch and followed Klay downstairs into his bedroom/hangout. Klay turned right to his recording studio and pulled out his keycard from his wallet.
"What do you ever do if you get locked out?" Marc asked him, sure that he would have figured out a way not to lock himself out his own office.
"I have a password that connects my phone to the door," Klay explained nonchalantly. Klay placed his keycard inside the slot and once the room went from red to green, Klay pulled the knob opened and the two stepped inside, Marc clearly impressed.
The room was painted a dark orange-red with a black couch and matching armchairs. Marc sat down on one of the armchairs as Klay walked over to his soundboard. Marc looked around the room and was impressed by all the equipment Klay had, he even had stuff that wasn't even out yet. Klay turned on his soundboard and set of beats begun to play. They were all good, it made him even more excited for him and his group to debut in Korea. It won't happen for a while, but he can imagine that their group debut would be explosive in Korea.
"Well?" Klay asked his older brother.
"All of them are insane," Marc said. "Which one are you going to use first?"
"I'm not sure, probably the third one. It's the best one so far," Klay said. They soon heard the door upstairs open and then a loud, "Marc! Klay! I need help!" Of course it was Alice.
"Come on, let's go before she sees that I let you down here and not her," Klay said. Marc laughed as the two left the room and Marc headed upstairs as Klay closed and locked his recording studio door. When Marc came upstairs, he still saw his Mom dancing and humming to the next song on Klay's EXO playlist, Artificial Love.
"Where were you?" Alice asked as she came back in. Her hands were the rest of the food for tomorrow and Marc knew there was more in the car. "Cassie and I first went to the mall for clothes, then we went to the store for the desert stuff. Can you and Klay help? I got a lot of bags."
"Alright, alright, don't get your nonexistent thong in a bunch," Klay said as he headed outside.
"What makes you think I'm not wearing a thong?" Alice asked as she and Marc trailed behind her.
"Will you relax for once? It was a joke, nothing more," Klay said. When they reached Cassie's car, Marc waved as Klay and Alice grabbed bags from the trunk. Cassie was Japanese-American, with medium-length, curly honey-blonde hair that was curlier than normal and eyes the color of sapphires. She was five months older than Marc, which meant she got her license before he got his two weeks ago.
"You offered to take my sister to the mall and then the store?" he asked as he grabbed the last of the bags that belonged to Alice from the trunk.
"It wasn't that bad, I got to get some snack food for the journey tomorrow as well," she said. "And besides, we've been friends since we were like five, of course I'm going to do favors like these every now and then."
"Well, thanks for being a good friend," Marc said. "Are you coming in or are you headed home?"
"Headed home, I got some new bikinis I need to try out," she said.
"You got a nice ass for it," Marc teased playfully.
"I can see where Klay gets his flirtation from," Cassie stated.
"Trust me, I'm nothing like my Dad. You should see how he flirts with my Mom. How else do you think Alice and Klay got here." She giggled and rolled her eyes as she closed the trunk. "Have fun in Daytona."
"I'll try. See you on Wednesday." Marc watched as Cassie drove her car off the driveway and once she was safely on the road, Marc went back in the house where he saw their Mom trying to Klay to dance with her and succeeding..
A Word from Sapphire…
Good News Everyone!
They've decided on a group name and my new favorite group is going by the name CoED. I also know that they're going to start training as soon as the school year ends, which is obviously good news for me. After searching for them on YouTube and everything, I've decided that my favorite member at the moment is definitely Ashleigh. Have you seen that short-bitty move? It's like fire honestly. Their schedule seems intense too and I guess as the years add on, they'll be adding more on such as songwriting and all that good stuff. Oh, I can't wait to follow this group throughout their training. But don't get confused! I'm not a sasaeng, I'm just a simple fan and this site is my fanbase. For now though, I'm going to enjoy my Memorial Day cookout. I've been waiting all week for it. My Mom's Apple and Cheddar pie is the best. This is Sapphire-Rose signing off, goodnight folks.
Happy Memorial Day.
A/N: Thank you for reading our story! Please leave reviews, we love those!
