Summary: Nicole Bourne's life revolved around her boyfriend Nathan Jones. Her heart is shattered when he ends it one day and they both discover that a break up is different to them both. This is a song fic one shot around the song 'It's Different For Girls' by Dierks Bentley ft Elle King.

A/N: Hey guys! So I have been wanting to write a small one shot to this song for three days. I know this is not what every girl goes through but I still love the song. I hope you enjoy.

Disclaimer: I do not own the song 'It's Different For Girls' By Dierks Bentley ft Elle King.

Nicole felt her heart shatter as Nathan told her the news. "Why do you wanna break up? What did I do wrong?" She asked.

Nathan sighed. "We are twenty one, Nikki and I want to experience other people. We have been together basically since we were sixteen"

Nicole hugged herself and nodded slowly. "Thanks for understanding, Nikki" Nathan said before he walked off.

She don't throw any t-shirt on and walk to a bar

She don't text her friends and say, "I gotta get laid tonight."

She don't say, "It's okay, I never loved him anyway."

She don't scroll through her phone just looking for a Band-Aid

Letty watched as Nicole cried herself to sleep. She wanted to kill Nathan for this but also knew it was the way of life. "How is she doing?" Jack asked his wife.

Letty sighed. "Not good but it will get better. I just pray Nathan is not throwing himself away"

Jack shook his head. "I have a feeling I know what he is doing and eventually, this will catch up to him."

It's different for girls when their hearts get broke

They can't tape it back together with a whiskey and Coke

They don't take someone home and act like it's nothing

They can't just switch it off every time they feel something

Nathan laughed as Ryan missed the dart board. "Hey Nate, there is a pretty girl, twelve o'clock" Matthew whispered.

Nathan looked to see a beautiful brunette waving at him. He stood up and walked over to her. The girl smirked. "Hey big boy"

Nathan grinned. "Hey yourself"

A guy gets drunk with his friends and he might hook up

Fast forward through the pain, pushing back when the tears come on

But it's different for girls

Nathan opened his eyes and felt his head pound. "To much to drink" He whispered.

He heard a groan. "Hey Nikki, can you..." He trailed off as he saw the brunette from last night lean over him. "Name is Evie, big boy, not Nikki. Were you that hammered?"

Nathan felt an urge to push this girl away but he ignored it. "Well, you did screw with my head with your wild side"

Evie kissed his neck. "Let me screw with it again"

She don't sleep all day and leave the house a wreck

She don't have the luxury to let herself go

Nicole walked into the living room. "I cleaned my mess up and I will return to work tomorrow" She mumbled.

Letty looked at her little sister. "You take your time Nic. I think Mr. Uchiyama would let you have the rest of your life off with pay"

Nicole giggled. "I can't deny that. I do want to go back though. He says Ritsu and Ryuu are constantly asking for me"

"See, you have three...well a man and two toddlers kissing the ground you walk on. Everything will be right again" Letty promised. Nicole smiled big for the first time in days and Letty knew her sister was becoming herself once again.

She won't call just to curse

Found a wall she can punch

When the going gets tough, yeah, the guys they can just act tough

Nicole tucked the twins in and shut the door. Kenta put his hand out and Nicole instantly grabbed it. They walked to his office. "Are you okay Nicole?" He questioned her.

Nicole smiled at his kindness. "It is hard but I am sticking it through. The boys help a lot here"

Kenta hugged her. "We are here if you need us. You are very important to the boys and especially to me"

Nicole nodded. She knew she wasn't ready for another relationship but she knew when she would be ready, she wanted someone like Kenta. He made her feel safe and special.

Ryan watched as Nathan rub his head. "What's wrong man? You have been down for the last two weeks"

"Nothing, just been stressing on finals coming up"

"Why don't you check out with blondie on the dance floor?" Matthew mentioned.

Ryan looked at the woman and frowned. "That is Jay's girl...What was her name?"

"I think it was Melissa" Matthew tried to remember.

Nathan needed to get Nicole out of his mind. He stood up and walked over to Melissa. "Hey Melissa"

Melissa stopped dancing and grabbed his hands. "Dance with me. Jay broke my heart"

Nathan felt Nicole leave his mind as he pulled Melissa close and started to dance. "I can fix that broken heart for you" He suggested in her ear.

Nathan walked into his apartment and dropped his bag. He sat on the couch and saw a picture laying on the floor. He picked it up to see Nicole on his back and smiling. "This was our senior year" He croaked out.

He felt his heart break as he thought of all the memories with Nicole. He gabbed his phone. He quick asked what she was doing in a text. He waited but never received an answer.

It's different for girls

Nobody said it was fair

When love disappears, they can't pretend it was never there

Nicole closed the book to see Ryuu asleep and Ritsu trying to stay awake. "Its time for bed Ritsu" She told him quietly.

"I don't want NiNi gone" He whimpered.

Nicole pushed him on the couch and rubbed his head. "I will be back before you know it"

Ritsu yawned then closed his eyes. Nicole felt her phone vibrate. She pulled it out then put it back in her pocket. Kenta walked in and groaned. "How do you get them to sleep so easily?"

Nicole giggled and wiggled her fingers. "Magic touch"

The phone vibrated again and Kenta glared. "Is he texting again?"

"Yes. I want to answer but we are done and I know he is wanting to get back together"

"So you don't love him no more?"

"I am finally ready to move on but I will never forget the memories"

So tough

It's different for girls

Nathan knew he screwed up. He delt with the heartache for months. He stopped going out with his buddies and threw himself in his studies, hoping to forget her laugh or smiles.

He felt hope grow when they tried being friends again. They hung out like they did before they became more. He enjoyed just being near her again. Everything was great until today when he felt his heart break again.

In his hands was the wedding invitation for Kenta Uchiyama and Nicole Bourne. "Dad told me you never know what you've got till its gone, and now I understand what he was talking about" Nathan spoke quietly as he sat down and finally let the tears fall.
