Christmas is a huge celebration that has been celebrated all over the world for centuries. Many things come to our minds including presents, stockings, snowmen, reindeer, pine trees, candy canes, and other things. But what we need to ask is, "What meaning of Christians with the giving, singing, feasting, and other things that comes with this joyful season?" Well let me tell you, it is about a precious gift that God gave us over two thousand years ago.
It begins when God an angel to tell the Virgin Mary that she would be the mother of God's Son through the Holy Spirit. Mary had great faith to trust God because this was putting her life at risk. It also took Joseph, Mary's fiancé, to trust Him as well, after God sent an angel to Him as well after he nearly broke up the engagement. Under a decree, Joseph and Mary were forced to travel to Bethlehem. There was no room in the inn, so they stayed in a stable. There Mary gave birth to Jesus. On that night, God chose shepherds, the lowliest of the low, to first see Jesus after he sent a multitude of angels to them. Jesus Christ would live a sinless life, teaching about God and healing people both physically and spiritually. Then He would die on the cross and rise again in three days to save all who believe in Him.
So you see, on Christmas day we celebrate the birth of the one who has saved us all from a painful, eternal separation from God called Hell. Also because of Him, we can spend eternity in the presence of the one, true God forever! So while we have fun with our families and friends and goodies during this Christmas season, let's think about the one who was born, died, and rose to rescue and be with us.
