This is the script for a short film we are about to work on. When we film it and post it to YouTube I'll update this with a link I guess?

(Screen starts out black. Clock Ticking sound effect starts as the screen cuts to various shots of different scenery in the room such as posters, random objects, windows, doors, etc. Finally a panning shot starts at the foot of a person's body up to their face which is sulken and looks to be deceased. It is a girl. When the panning stops, the ticking stops. Camera abruptly cuts to another girl and a boy standing in front of the girl. The standing girl, JO is disconnected. She looks as if she was recently crying. The boy, ADAM, looks sternly as if he is trying to figure out what to do next. Suddenly the shot changes to a close up of JO'S face. It changes from distant to distressed.]

JO

(Whispering) I need her.

[JO approaches the dead girl and tries to get close to her. ADAM grabs her arm and stops her. Close up of ADAM)

ADAM

Stop. She's gone.

[JO continues to wriggle in ADAM'S hold of her.]

JO

I need to hold her again!

[Her words sting the silence and the shot falls backwards showing the two and the girl from the distance. Another close up of ADAM.)

ADAM

Do you want to catch it?

(JO looks up at ADAM with naive contempt. She pulls out of his grasp and walks away from the dead girl and him, sitting down in a chair in the far corner of the room. As ADAM approaches her again, she is sobbing quietly. ADAM sits down at a loss for words or actions. He reaches out for her hand, but she pulls away. The two sit in silence save for JO'S quiet sobbing for a moment. Finally ADAM takes his phone out of his pocket and sets it on the table. He messes with it for a second before a song starts playing. As the song begins playing, the shot changes to JO softly and slowly lifting her head, surprised by the new playing music.)

JO

This is my favorite song…

ADAM

I know.

(JO lifts her head to look at ADAM who has a hand outstretched to invite her to dance. She hesitantly takes his hand. A zoomed out shot shows him pulling her up as they parade the stage in a swift and sweet dance. They dance to the music. Finally as another song plays, JO leaned in close, head on ADAM'S shoulder, ADAM speaks. The music sounds drowned out as they talk.}

ADAM

Remember when we used to dance together as kids?

JO

Yeah…(Nervous laugh) You were God awful at it.

ADAM

(Full on laugh) Yeah…

(Silence proceeds as the two continue slowly rocking. Close up of JO.)

JO

I miss her…

ADAM

Yeah. But she's in a better place no-

[Suddenly an array of hush whispers begins. When the two hear this they abruptly stop dancing and the music becomes even more drowned out as a new track of suspense comes on over it. The shot zooms in on the dead girl's face as the whispers get louder.]

JO

No…

ADAM

It's not supposed to happen this soon…

JO

What do we do?

ADAM

(Pacing) I don't know, but we need to get rid of the body.

JO

We can't just get rid of her!

ADAM

Jo, I don't think you understand what's gonna happen if we don't-

(A bang on the door hushes the conversation. The camera quickly pans from the door at the back of the theatre to the two on the stage.)

JO

They're here.

ADAM

(Panicky) Okay...we have to get out of here.

JO

And just leave Ashley there to-

ADAM

Yes! Jo, we have to go now or we'll end up just like her!

JO

Adam, I-

(As the banging on the original door becomes louder there becomes banging at the other doors.)

ADAM

Oh...god...We have to find a way out of here. Quick.

JO

(Hopeless) There's no time…

ADAM

(Walking over closer to JO.) No-if we just find a way to-

JO

Adam…

ADAM

We can-

JO

Adam!

ADAM

What?

JO

We've gotten as far as we ever could have.

ADAM

What? No. Jo, we can't just give up.

JO

"The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results."

ADAM

So what do we do…?

JO

Let's just...Can we have one more...dance? Before we…

ADAM

Yeah…

(Screen cuts to the banging on the doors as a new track of music plays. The two dance slowly, in a way that's both sentimental and sorrowful. Their faces are clear of distinct emotion and they dance with no particular end in sight. After a little while the phone is seen dying and the music stops. ADAM stops dancing for a second.)

JO

(Holding on.) It doesn't matter...Just please don't let go.

(ADAM doesn't protest. They continue rocking in slow dance. After a short while the camera closes in on JO as she starts singing, softly, with no concern for singing in tone or professionally. She begins singing "You Are My Sunshine" and at first ADAM looks confused by this but joins in at the second line of the chorus. As they sing the camera slowly cuts further and further out zoomed until finally the last line is delivered and the theatre doors are heard bursting open as the screen cuts to black.)

(Title on Screen: Sunshine)

(Credits roll.)
