Moonlit Star smoothly leapt onto the trail that lead to the Ledge. Her soft silver pelt glistened in the light as she called a pack meeting.

"By the blistering winds that give us our home, I summon you to speak."

Wolves crept out from dens in the rocks in and jutting out from the base of the mountain. Fighters, Hunters- all gathered together. The three lowers- Clover, Eagle, and Sage- crept to just out of her sight to her right at the base, and Cry lead her three pups out of her cave. Two she-pups, Moonlit Star observed, and one sire-pup- this looked like a good, strong litter.

She nodded her head, and the gray she-wolf pushed up the pups with her nose. The three weeks since they had been born had suited them well- they were plump and already developed pup muscles.

She gestured to the first pup, a brown and white she-wolf, and looked at the shape and figure once more, even after watching her for two and a half weeks of her three- the first four days were for a quail and pup alone.

"This pup, Pack with Shining Moss, is ready to be named a hunter. When she joins your ranks, she will be known as Fern that falls gently into snow." The crowd cheered, and Fern bowed her head a slunk backwards three steps, back to her littermates, as the next she-wolf stepped forward.

This one was harder, she thought, for it had the spirit of a fighter- but she must be true to prior generations.

"This pup, Pack with Shining Moss, is ready to be named a hunter. When she joins your ranks, she will be known as Starling that silently wails." The she-pup also bowed her head and exited as her brother scurried up.

A true fighter, this was a true fighter! Soon he would join his father, Fleeing Buffalo, as they defended themselves and did Pack Hunts.

"This pup, Pack with Shining Moss, is ready to be named a fighter. When he joins your ranks, he will be known as Stag with Sharp Horn." The sire-pup bowed his head in excitement, tail twitching in the urge to wag, as the crowd looked on.

Moonlit Star looked up the the noon sky, and howled, the pack joining in.
