The sun rises and sheds the dark as I shed soft blankets and tiptoe out the door.
Key in hand, my heartbeat falls in time to the playlist of a new day,
Waking blue crawls across the sky, while daring squirrels dance on wires,
Defying gravity with every leap.
And me, my lungs shaking from the cold, but my veins shaking from the life,
Finally breathing for the first time in what must be years.
Wide eyes open, seeing this new world open and bloom before me.
