Lucky Shot

"Pfft…I'm just too good. That teamkill that you just saw me pull off? That was nothing but pure skill." I said.

"Uh-huh, I still say you just got lucky." Alykin27 replied.

"Nah, it's all in the wrist. Perhaps I should show you sometime on how to properly play, you might actually get a kill for once."

"You're a jerk."

That was about how the conversation between us went when we met, I originally said that as I joke with no intentions at all. I guess she took it seriously. After all, she did seem to want to know more about how to actually play as I came to learn. The cursing and yelling I heard during that public match was one of the worst I've heard in all my years of playing, usually I could stand that occasional person saying "Camper! Noob!" or my personal favorite "Learn to play!" whenever I would get a teamkill. However, this girl, Alykin27, was the worst I've heard. I actually had to take off my headphones because her voice was hurting my ears.

"Ok, I know you're definitely hacking. There's no way that didn't kill you." Was the first thing she said besides the usual "shut up moron, just play." Whenever I would greet her when I would answer her skype call while playing. She had improved over the months we've played together, although she still had never won a match against me. Some days were nice, whenever I would sit at the computer to write with a nice cup of coffee I would get the usual 'Pop' of a notification show up on the side with "You busy?" I always knew that meant she was in the mood to just talk and not call me a…well whatever name she came up for me.

"What did you think? Was it good?" She asked me as I finished reading the chapter she had finished writing.

"It was good, I liked it." I said slurping my coffee.

"No you didn't, I didn't even like it." She replied slurping her own coffee.

"You know, Allison. We are our worst critics." Her brows furrowed as she stared at her paper ignoring my comment. I could tell she was scanning over it and making notes of what she hated about it, I actually genuinely liked it, it was better than my first novel.

"Hey, my darling husband. Get over here, the new game's not going to play itself." Her voice said from my phone.

"Yeah, ok my darling wife. I'm on my way." I said leaving the company parking lot. She was sitting at the computer, just like I usually found her when I would get home from work. Beside her stood a stack of papers, probably it was the draft for her 3rd novel she's been telling me about.

"Ah finally, some good competition." She said as I hugged her from behind, she kissed me on the cheek. I sat at my own computer and put on my own headphones, little did I know that would be the first time I would ever utter those words she said when we first met.

"Aw what? That was luck!" I said as she killed me, for the first time she lightly punched me in the arm because of what she did, not because of what I did. "Nah, it's all in the wrist." She chuckled.
