Chapter 3

Paige picked up the sandwich dishes and brought them to the sink where she cleaned them off.

"Are you upset?" Paige asked, keeping her back to him.

"About your SAT Weekend?" Steve sighed.

She glanced over her shoulder and gave him a look. "Take in every moment and opportunity because trust me, life goes by too fast," Paige said.

"I've tried to take in every moment as it happened but it still feels too fast," Steve admitted.

"You've done well," Paige told him. "Academically, athletically, and socially. And now it's time to move on with the rest of your life." She was done with the dishes and she returned to the table. "Find your own way as an adult."

"I was always jealous of Brian," Steve confessed.

"I know," Paige said with insight. "You were never interested in Abby. You were interested in me."

He blushed but he didn't say anything in response.

"The house sure does seem empty these days," Paige sighed, glancing around. "It was always full of people growing up. Now Terry's gone and Abby's got her friends and my parents are getting used to the empty nest reality."

"You're still here," Steve said.

"Am I?" Paige wondered. "It feels like I'm on one long goodbye. Living at home to save money helps, but everybody's work schedules, social commitments and other activities makes it hard to be together as a family that much anymore."

"Times change," Steve pointed out.

"I'm not sure if I like that so much," Paige pouted.

Steve looked at her with surprise. "You're the last one I expected to be sentimental."

"I guess reality is just now hitting me," Paige confessed.

"So now what?" Steve wondered.

"Now what, indeed?" Paige asked, raising her eyebrows.

Steve reddened slightly and then stood. "Thanks for the sandwich," he said. "It was better than ever."

"I'm glad," Paige said, standing too.

"I should probably get going," Steve said.

Steve shrugged his shoulders. "I've intruded enough."

"You're not intruding," she insisted. "Don't you want to have fun today?"

"Fun?" Steve asked with confusion.

Paige stepped around the table and gave him a hug, followed by a kiss, their first ever.

"I wasn't expecting that!" Steve said with surprise when their lips unlocked.

"Haven't you always wanted me?" Paige purred.

Was this a fantasy come true? Or was she teasing him like she always did.

"I remember the first time I ever saw you," Steve said.

"I was twelve."

"You were beautiful."

"You could have had Abby whenever you wanted," Paige told him, looking to his eyes. "She was younger. She would have loved to have been seduced by you."

"I wanted you," Steve admitted.

"I know."

"But you never seduced me," he sighed.

"I am now," she let him know, stepping back.

"Because it's time," she explained.

"Why now?" He frowned.

"Because I needed to get to a place where we are now," Paige reasoned. "No Brian. No barriers. You old enough."

"I was always old enough," he snapped.

"It would have been too complicated," Paige insisted. "With Terry around. With me so much older. I would have been a cradle robber no matter when it happened."

"But not now?"

"You worked so hard to pretend you didn't want me," she said with a knowing smile. "But I knew from the start how you felt."

"And now I'm old enough?"

"Now we're old enough," she said, leaning in and kissing him again.

Steve happily returned the kiss, lifting his hands up to rake them through her hair.

"I wish it had been me instead of Brian," Steve sighed into her mouth.

"I know," she whispered. "But it's you now."

They made out standing in the kitchen and when Steve dared to unfasten the top of her jumper, Paige showed no signs of resistance. The outfit slid down her body and fell to the floor and Steve was caught off guard when he realized she hadn't worn anything underneath. She was naked before him as he stepped back and looked at her natural beauty.

"I wanted to see you like this for so long," Steve whimpered. "I was always so conflicted because on one hand you were sort of like my sister but on the other hand you were the sexist girl I'd ever seen."

Paige beamed, flattered. "It was always sexual between us, Steve," she told him.

Steve swallowed hard and Paige walked past him. He followed her with his eyes, noticing the tan lines of her brown skin contrasting the white of her private areas. Paige teasingly shook her bare ass as she left the room and Steve followed her in pursuit.

"We've always been a close family, haven't we?" Paige giggled as she skipped up the stairs, Steve close behind.

"I can't believe this," Steve admitted as he followed Paige into her bedroom.

"It's time to finally turn the page, don't you think?" She asked, turning to face him.

He had been in her bedroom countless times over the years, but never like this.

"Turn the page?" He asked with confusion.

"From our adolescent past," Paige said, standing before him in all her glory. "It's time to show how much we mean to each other."

Paige ran her hands along his arms, feeling his football muscles and she wasted little time moving her hands to his waist, giving his athletic shorts a tug and they easily slipped down his thighs and fell to the floor.

"I always knew it was going to come to this," Paige said.

"You did?" A dumbfounded Steve asked. "I had no idea."

"That's because you were so naïve," Paige laughed with affection, taking him by the hand and leading him to her bed. "Always so busy trying to fit in and be accepted. That's why it was so easy to tease you all the time."

She fell onto the bed. Steve peeled off his tee shirt, kicked off his sneakers and joined her on the bed, not quite believing they were both naked.

"You're such a gentle soul," Paige said. "That's what makes you so awesome."

"You're the nicest person I know," Steve replied.

They lay on the bed exploring each other with their hands, gentle and affectionate caresses and touches.

"Time to turn the Paige," Steve whispered, helping Paige roll over onto her stomach.

He kissed her backside and then worked his way up, tracing her spine with his tongue until he reached her neck, and then kissing the side of her face.

"How come love happens when you least expect it?" Steve asked.

"Love happens when you let it happen," Paige replied. "That's why we're turning the page.

She rolled over onto her back again and Steve fell on top of her, kissing her passionately.

"Thank you," he nearly whimpered. "For waiting for me."

"Thank you," she whispered before kissing him happily. "For having me."
