Today was so boring. I did my chores and I don't feel like playing my video games. I received a text from my friends that they are planning on movie night, but Olivia wants to eat pizza first. Pizza sounds good, I quickly send a text to my mom that I'm going out.
I look at the time and I'm early to even to get there. I decided to walk since its a nice day. I play music on my mp3 player as I walk. 15 minutes of walking I hear a shuffling in the forest next to me. I turn off my player and yelled out.
"Hey is anyone there?"
I hear a giggle; sounds like a girl. I sent another text to my friends that I'm going to be a little bit late. I start following the giggling sound into the woods. Not five minutes later I find myself in this beautiful grove. In this grove a very beautiful blonde hair woman is playing around with rabbits. She looks up and sees me.
"You're new. I'm Gwen. What's your name?"
"Neiko. This place is beautiful."
"It is, isn't it."
She brings me over to this magnificent tree; we sit and talk. I talk about my life and she tells me about hers. She tells me that the grove has no time and she has seen people from other time periods.
"It's the magic of the tree. When I ask for food, it provides me what I need. Sometimes unicorns will just show up and play around with the other woodland creatures."
I didn't believe about the unicorn at first until it showed up out of nowhere. I asked her where she was from, and she says possibly England but she can't remember for sure. Gwen has been in this grove for a long time. The more we talk the more I want to stay here with her.
"Have you ever been lonely?"
"No not really. I get to meet new friends and sometimes the unicorn will stay for a time."
"Thing is, I would like to tie up loose ends at home because I want to stay here with you."
"That's so sweet. Come."
She takes me to the tree.
"Neiko would like a device that will let him know when we are back in the area. He wants to come back here to live with us."
The wind swirls and a compass appears at the base of the tree. Gwen tells me that the grove moves from place to place and there's no knowing where they might end up. The compass is to lead me back here when the time came. She lightly gave me a kiss and sent me on my way.
What felt like five minutes of walking , I end up near my house. Outside my house was cop cars, and I have no idea what's going on. I walk inside to see my mom in a hysterical fit as she sees me. She practically bear hugs me until I couldn't breathe.
"Where were you? You've been gone for two weeks. We thought you got lost or ran away or someone took you. You made us all worry sick..." She continues to cry.
"I'm sorry mom. I didn't think I'd be gone that long."
I just don't know what to say. After a while with the cops asking questions on where I had been. Nothing made sense to them, so they wrote down that I got lost. Once they were done, my mom asked me where I want to go to eat. I still want that pizza.
My friends treated me to movie night and start talking about where I was. I start telling them about Gwen in the magical grove. Normally people will think I've gone crazy, but my friends are anything but normal. They believe me, and they are concerned for me.
"Are you sure you want to back to the grove?" Olivia asked.
"Yeah. I told Gwen that I'll come back to the grove."
"Dude, you must be in love." Another friend Robert said.
I never thought about it that way. I guess I'm in love. The weirdest Love-at-first-sight type of thing.
"Regardless, all my worldly possessions will be shared amongst you all. Including my bank account."
"We will miss you, though. We are eating out with you until the day you disappear." My soft-hearted friend Ana said.
We did just that, ate out when we can. I pulled out my bank account, gave a portion to my friends and deposit the rest into my moms account. One day my compass started to spin. The needle was spinning, I know it's time for me to go. I left a note, my cellphone, and house keys on the counter in the kitchen. I know my mom will definitely freak out again, but I'm not going back. It feels sad knowing that I might never see my family and friends again. I made a promise to Gwen that I'm coming back to her.
I leave following where the compass is pointing. I walk for a good thirty minutes until l come across the same grove where Gwen is sitting underneath the magic tree. For some reason I feel like I'm coming back home. She looks up and sees me. She smiles and waves me over. I run to her. I run to my l
