I. The song of resentment

Fate has bestowed you with it all.

Love, wealth and happiness,

Your smile makes my skin crawl.

Fate has bestowed me with misery,

Death, betrayal, loneliness,

Are the only things meant for me.

I resent it, with all the air left in my lungs.

I feel bitter, the taste lingers on my tongue.

I can't change it, can't switch our fortunes

Any more than a mortal can pluck the moon.

So I watch you smile from far away

While my tears drench my heart

And every sigh ages me one more day.

By now I assume I've grown eons old,

And the youth shining so bright in you

Is slowly poisoning my mind and soul.

I resent it, with all the air left in my lungs.

I feel bitter, the taste lingers on my tongue.

I can't change it, can't switch our fortunes

Any more than a mortal can pluck the moon.

Who controls these threads of fate?

Who decides the future that awaits?

How can I appease the powers that be?

How can I make fortune favour me?

II. The lesson

Hahaha!

You fool!

It is neither fortune nor love nor wealth

That can ever bring you joy and bliss.

It is the way you look at things-

Your perspective is the missing puzzle piece.

You cannot control fate,

But you choose how you react to it.

Should you choose to smile,

You shall never ever face defeat.

When the world is filled with smoke,

Adorn your eyes with glasses of rose,

And you will see the beautiful murals on the doors that close.

When the sun is out of sight,

Find the flame that burns inside your soul,

And you will beautify the dark, like fireflies dancing in black holes.

Never surrender,

Never let your despair grow.

When your world freezes

Build a sword out of the snow.

Never feel broken,

Never let bitterness thrive.

When death surrounds you

Be grateful to be alive

To see another beautiful sunrise.

I spy the horizon with your own eyes.

Believe in that dawn,

It'll keep you going on.

Never doubt that you are stronger than what can ever ail you.

III. The song of peace

Fate has bestowed you with it all.

Love, wealth and happiness,

I wish you well, may you always stand tall.

Fate has bestowed me with misery,

But I am built of bottomless strength,

And I'll smile through it, as you shall see.

I embrace it, with all the air left in my chest.

I feel invincible, I am at my very best.

No mere mortal can ever pluck the moon.

But in my dreams I'll reach it very soon.
