book one of the Four Quadrants

Prologue

Across the vast array of propulsion cells and energy modules, the team of scientists valiantly kept to their schedule, working together as one unit to finish their project until at last they were satisfied with the end result.

At the end of the long walk way, the bridge itself seemed to fall into oblivion, a vast spiraling display of power that was unmatched anywhere else in the galaxy.

Their senior engineer raised his hand to signify that the project was finished and then he turned to their supervisor commenting, "Are these numbers correct?"

"I have checked them three times, and I shouldn't have to tell you how necessary it is to make this count!" the older man growled. The scientists cleared the area as the alarm began to buzz, the entire space closed to any further interference from the outside. Slowly the spiraling energy grew larger, engulfing their project like a creature consuming its meal and then in a flash of bright light the entire bridge and all their work seemed to vanish before their eyes.

He raised his glasses to his face and peered down at the calculations, confident that the course they had set would be the correct one.
