A/N Hi guys! This is my first story I ever made in fiction press. This is a school assignment 'write a detective story' so I really want to know what you guys think of it! I really hope you will enjoy it. It's going to be around the 3000 words long and will (hopefully) be finished before the holidays. Anyway, have fun reading!

Olivia's POV

Hello, my name is Olivia. I am 16 years old and I live in Australia. At least, I used to live there. I'm lost in the desert. Right now, I am staying in a little village but the people here can't understand me and they don't have cell phones or any other useful technology. In other words: I have no idea where I am right now. Want to know how I got here? This is what happened.

"Olivia, can we talk to you for a second?" Olivia's mom sounded serious. "What is it mom?" Olivia's dad Matthew hesitated and then responded "You're going to college." Olivia could almost scream of happiness! She's been waiting for so long now to hear that! "Where am I going?" She asked. "To USA." Her mother responded. Olivia didn't care where it was. She was so happy! She could finally study and later get a good job and earn a lot of money! Olivia's parents were really poor and her little sister was ill. Very ill. But her parents had been saving for Olivia to go to college so she could later get a really good job and send her parents money for her little sister. She knew that going by plane and college was really expensive but her mother said that curing her little sister was even more expensive. Nobody in Australia knew how to cure her. Olivia's parents only had money for 1 person to go to USA. So Olivia had to go. She would study hard, get a nice job and pay her parents the money to go to USA as well and cure her little sister. "I am going to pack my bags!" Olivia shouted while running up the stairs. "Think she's going to be fine?" Olivia's mom Camila whispered to Matthew. "Of course she is," Matthew responded with a calming voice.

My parents were going to send me to college! Of course, I was overjoyed. Not-knowing how I would finally end up. After a week or so it was finally time.

"Are you sure you will be okay, sweetie?" Camila asked Olivia before grabbing all her bags. Well, 1 bag. Olivia didn't have much stuff. "I will." Responded the black-haired girl with a smile. "I will go to college, then earn money and cure my little sister." Her mother smiled back. "No pressure." Matthew mumbled under his breath.

After saying goodbye to my family, I entered the plane. Still overjoyed and clueless. Cause, you know, this should've been the best time of my life. 17 hours away from starting a new life.
