Ode to emptiness

I see your hollow form
With every step I take
You follow, nonexistent

I hear your muffled whispers
The buzzing in my ears
You breathe and I weep

I smell stagnation
Lukewarm pressure caving in
You suffocate

I taste your bland expectation
Waiting for no reason
You curl on my tongue

I touch your shadow
Of anticipation unfulfilled
You wait around the corner

I feel nothing
Because you are not
