Blood was strewn across the once clean bathroom. The walls and floor were splattered, the towels now dyed red in places. Despite all the blood around the bathroom, covered in it the most was a small women lying on the floor. It was the metallic smell that hung in the air that woke Sarah. Letting out a grown, she slowly returned to consciousness. Finally blinking her eyes open, Sarah gasped at what she saw. Now moving with urgency, Sarah got to her feet
"Oh no. Oh no no no no. please no, not again. Oh god." Sarah muttered to herself, starting to pace, panic lacing her voice.
"Finally awake I see." A man's voice answered inside her head.
Though the voice was almost always present dimly in the back of her mind, Sarah was taken aback by how clear and loud it was now.
"WHAT DID YOU DO!" She yelled at the empty room.
"tsk, tsk. No need to be so angry. I just wanted some fun. It's no fair you're the only one aloud to play." The voice answered.
Stopping her pacing, Sarah walked over to the mirror. Taking in her reflection, Sarah saw cuts and bruises sprinkled across her skin. She also noticed the clothes that she wore were not her own.
"Where did you get these?" she asked the voice.
"I borrowed them." He replied. "Sorry, but I'm not exactly fond of wearing dresses."
Looking once more around the bathroom, Sarah took a few deep breaths before asking a question she didn't want the answer too. "Why is there blood everywhere?"
"Ohh, I just murdered someone." The voice said casually, as though he was talking about the weather.
"WHAT?!" Sarah screamed. "no no no. oh god no." Breathing heavily, starting to pace again. "w-who?" she finally managed to get out.
"An old friend." The voice replied.
Sarah stopped dead in her tracks. Faces of the few friends she had allowed herself to keep flashed in her mind.
The voice chuckled, "I'm kidding, it was just some stranger I ran into."
Sarah let out a sigh of relief before immediately being filled with guilt.
"Oh oh oh, let's play a really fun game." Said the voice, sounding childlike. "You'll love this one, it's called find the body. All you have to do is find where I hid the body and you'll win."
"w-what? N-n-no y-you didn't. wh-what were y-you thin-thinking?" Sarah asked, terrified and panicked. "O-oh god. Why didn't y-you j-just get r-rid of it? S-someone is-is going to f-find it. Oh-oh g-god. They w-will f-find it. They will find it. Oh g-god. They will find it." Sarah mumbled to herself.
"Oh, don't worry." The voice reassured. "I hid it somewhere inside your apartment." He said, sounding giddy.
Rushing out of the bathroom, Sarah started searching. She looked under the beds and other furniture raised off the ground, she tore through closets, and even looked in places that logically could never fit a body. Not for the first time Sarah thought about how much she regretted ever volunteering for the experiment.
Back then she had been a normal, broke college student. Signing up as a volunteer for experiments was just supposed to be easy money. She had been told that it was trying to expand the capability of the human mind. Nothing about having another consciousness put inside her own was ever mentioned. Now, her body and mind was shared by another. Sarah tried to stay in control, but sometimes he was just too powerful. She remembered the first time he had taken over. It had been about a month after the experiment had been determined a failure. Sarah had woken up in some alleyway covered in blood that was not her own. It always seemed she woke up covered in blood. The monster inside her always used her body for murder. Honestly, Sarah was surprised she hadn't been arrested by now.
After failing to find the body anywhere else in her apartment, Sarah entered the kitchen. At first, Sarah failed to notice anything out of the ordinary, then she noticed a cupboard door that had been left ajar. Opening it fully, Sarah found it full of fruit. Opening up another cupboard, Sarah found a container full of left overs. Franticly opening more and more cupboards and drawers, Sarah fond them all full of things that used to be in her fridge. Behind one door, she even found the shelves that belong to her fridge.
Facing the fridge, Sarah hesitantly walked towards it. Heart pounding, breath quickening, Sarah pulled the door open. Stuffed inside, throat slit, was the body. Alost passing out, Sarah grabbed a hold of the nearest counter top. She could not pass out now. If she did, he would only take control again.
After taking a moment to regain herself, Sarah looked back at the body. She knew him. He lived in the same apartment complex. They had never exchanged any words, only passed by each other in the hall or occasionally shared the elevator.
"Congratulations. You have won fined the body." the voice boomed inside her head, doing his best impression of a game show host.
"Now, we need to go over a few things." The voice stated seriously. "You'll need to clean up the place. Get rid of all this blood. I covered up your tracks pretty well at the crime scene, but-"
"You mean your tracks?" Sarah interrupted.
"No, I mean yours." Said the voice simply.
"But you were the one who did it."
"It was your body." The voice shot back.
"But I would never do something like." She tried again.
"But I would. And I did." Said the voice. "And since it was your body, it would be your fault." "Now, where was I? Oh yes, now I remember." The voice continued on from before. "Though the actual crime sceen is pretty clean, I had some fun once I got back here. What can I say, I like to chase my pray before I kill." The voice laughed eerily. "I would recommend first cleaning everything with bleach, then using a strong, acidic smelling cleaner to mask the smell of bleach. Try maybe lemon. I do love the smell of lemon. Anything you can't clean, take far outside the city limits and burn it. The best place to do it would be in a campground campfire, people are always burning weird shit in them. As for the body, I would suggest to burn it as well, but that's a bit more difficult to do. You can't just burry it, someone will find it sooner or later. Let's see, why don't you use sodium hydroxide. Just mix it with some water and wait a bit and all you'll have left to worry about is the bones, which are much easier to move then the full body. You can even do it in your bath tub. And since it stains white, you'll be able to cover it. You probably have a few days before anyone get suspicious, but I would start soon if I were you."
"No." said Sarah firmly. "I'm not doing this anymore. I'm not letting you hurt anyone else. I'm calling the cops and confessing." Sarah reached for her phone, but a force inside her brain stopped her.
"You will do what I say, if you want to keep control of your body." yelled the voice inside her head.
Sarah tried to fight back, but the other consciousness was just too powerful. Giving up, Sarah slumped to the floor, tears running down her face
