One morning, when I was about 10 years old give or take, I was up before anyone else, at least I thought. I believe the time was 5 in the morning, but I am not sure. I had been up for about 30 minutes or so sitting on my couch staring into nothing. I did not feel like watching television nor to play with my toys. It was also too early for me to go out at the time.

I am sitting on my couch and see someone walk in the dining room. I see a figure that looks like my mother, so I think it my mother. I take the situation as she just got up early to get something from the kitchen. In this house, from the living room you can see the dining room through an open half-wall. On the left side when looking at the dining room, there is regular wall. Behind that wall is the kitchen. She turns the dining room light on and goes into the kitchen. I zone out for a while. After some time, I realize that I had not heard a single noise, not a rustle or bustle. I call out to my mother, "What are you doing?" I get no answer.

I get up to go into the kitchen so I can see what she is doing only to find that no one had entered the kitchen. Also, the dining room light was broken. You had to press a button-like switch to turn the dining room light on and off. The switch cover was cracked as if someone had slammed into the switch somehow very hard. It was not like that previously and I had slept in the living room all night.

I just turned off the light and went back to sleep.
