Fawn

I fed you from my palms

I made sure you were safe and slept soundly

You had no fear

I was always going to keep you nearby

Gave you my love unconditionally

Come on, come on my fawn

I'll lead you over hills

And I'll keep you safe

I'll hold you in my arms

And you'll be mine

I'll be yours

Spring was in bloom

You had learned to leap

I guided you among the valleys

So you'd never be have to fall alone

Gave you my love unconditionally

Come on, come on my fawn

I'll lead you over hills

And I'll keep you safe

I'll hold you in my arms

You'll be mine

I'll be yours

Fawn, fawn

Please don't go

…but the hunter came anyway

He killed you beneath

The willow tree where you were raised

He left your body in plain sight

Your skin and bones exposed

I was left to cry

Under that willow tree alone

Come on, come on my fawn

I'll lead you over the hills

I'll bury you safe in places we used to roam

Hold you in my arms one last time

And weep for days

I actually cried when I wrote this down. It's based off of something I've experienced…

I'm not against hunting deer, it's just for this it was only a fawn…it just seemed all so terrible. It's a longer story than I may explain here.
