Fate

turns slowly the gears
of the Universe.
Starburst stark strobes
fill the heavens with light
giving forth the

Birth
of a thousand suns
a million planets
a billion worlds
upon which

Life
flourishes and then
in a moment, ends
Fast it comes, quick it goes.
From where, to where.
Who knows, but

We
build in the meantime
sprawling concrete jungle
of bright lights and droning sounds
as white darkness consumes the sky
unconcerned as we

Destroy
uproot and plunder
environments
remorseless
as we
coldly

Discard
a quintillion lives,
a quadrillion plants,
a trillion beasts,
we easily

Forget
about our humble origins
in the Earth
Spewing speedy specks
of sand in the glass
counting down to

Demise
