The biggest game on the Hawks schedule (for Kyle) turned out to be the game against Hillsboro. Playing the Hurricanes had always been a big deal for Kyle - he lived in Hillsboro and went to elementary and middle school with a lot of the Hurricane players.
This year, Lisa was a Hillsboro High Freshman and Krissy was a part time student teacher at the school so there was added drama for the game. Kyle's parents and Bob sat on the Tech side of the field while Lisa and Krissy felt they had to show their school pride by sitting on the Hurricane side!
Kyle feigned shock and horror at the decision but the family had fun poking fun at each other and making up a fake rivalry to add drama to the game. Hillsboro was undefeated on the season but prognosticators gave the Hawks a reasonably fair shot at least being competitive.
Kyle was motivated to have a great game, mostly so he could humorously razz the girls about it and proclaim the Tech School superior to theirs! He wasn't necessarily nervous as he took the field - mostly he was confident and determined.
It turned out to be a pretty exciting back and forth contest. Kyle scored a touchdown on a trick play, Hillsboro had a 92 yard kick return, Tech blocked a punt for a touchdown, Hillsboro got a safety, and that turned out to be the difference as the Hurricanes escaped with a 28-26 victory.
To their credit, Krissy and Lisa were sympathetic to Kyle after the game and they took the high road by not rubbing it in and congratulating him for playing a great game. It was some solace after such a tough loss and he appreciated their willingness to be gracious winners.
The family went out for their now traditional post-game ice cream to numb Kyle's pain (and secretly celebrate Hillsboro's victory!).
Kyle's family was heading to Maine the next day for an overnight to visit family friends. Kyle had previously volunteered to scout the Greenville team for Tech's upcoming game against the Giants and his parents let him skip the trip. Lisa was disappointed but understanding to learn that Krissy was attending a seminar at Green College and couldn't join the family for the getaway.
Kyle got up to see the family off in the morning - and Krissy too as she headed out at around the same time. He was hoping for some special quality alone time with Krissy - but who was he kidding? She was focused on her graduate work and he was just some stupid high school football player going off to watch the mighty Giants take on the lowly Mt. Griffin Mountaineers in a game hardly worth scouting.
"Do you have any plans later?" Kyle asked Krissy as she headed for her car.
"Yeah, I think there's a post-seminar gathering," she said. "Dinner and stuff. I probably won't be home until late."
"Oh," Kyle replied, trying not to sound disappointed. "Well, have fun."
"Thanks," she smiled. "You too."
And then she was gone - off to her exciting, mature, twenty-something life, and Kyle stood in the doorway looking at his piece of junk pickup truck realizing what a loser he really was.
The Giant game turned out to be a predicted lopsided blow out - the Green winning easily, 38-6, and the Hawks would have their hands full when they played Greenville the next week.
Kyle went home feeling dejected. The house felt especially empty without Krissy around and part of him wished he had gone to Maine just so he wouldn't have to miss Krissy so much. He thought about giving Carley Newton a call out of lonely desperation but he was pretty sure she'd blow him off and that would just make him feel worse. Rumor had it she was dating Rob Mason now and Kyle realized that Krissy was right - he really did need to move on.
Kyle was lost in his thoughts as he walked down the hall toward his bedroom. He needed to take a leak so he stepped through the bathroom door which was wide open and he nearly bumped into the bare rump of Krissy who was naked, bent over, drying her wet hair having just taken a shower.
Kyle stopped short and stared at her lovely long legs and naked rear end on display before him. It was wrong to look but he couldn't help himself. He knew the difference between right and wrong and this was definitely wrong but there he was being a sick and perverted peeping top.
Krissy must have seen his feet from her view between her legs. She straightened, shook her hair from her face, and turned while still holding the towel in her hand without covering herself to face him in all her frontal beauty.
"I...I...d...ddin't seeeeeeeee your car," he fumbled. "I...I...I didn't kkkkkkkknow you were here."
Kyle realized he was suddenly frozen, unable to move. He waited for her to scream or yell while frantically trying to cover up her nudity but she didn't even move as she stared at him with an odd look on her face.
"I didn't think you'd be home so soon," she admitted as she watched him stare at her exposed body. "It's supposed to rain later so I parked in the garage."
Kyle couldn't control his eyes from darting up and down. "God, you're beautiful," he nearly whimpered.
"I'm guessing you never got to see what's her name naked," Krissy realized.
"She said we were too young," Kyle sighed, taking appreciative notice of Krissy's firm breasts which he found remarkably lovely.
Kyle couldn't understand why she hadn't attempted to cover herself up to maintain some sense of dignity or not die from embarrassment (which he was about to do).
"I'm sorry," he sighed. "I didn't know you were in here."
"It was my fault for leaving the door open," she admitted, remaining calm and unaffected.
Kyle noticed that her pubic hair was perfectly shaped and trimmed. "What happened with the seminar?" he asked.
"Boring," Krissy admitted.
"I'll leave," Kyle said awkwardly.
"It's okay," she said calmly. "Too late now anyway."
"What am I supposed to do?" A flustered Kyle asked.
"What do you want to do?" She smirked.
"I feel kind of stupid staring at your naked," he admitted.
Krissy gave him an amused look. "Somehow I don't believe you."
"I'm really sorry, I shouldn't be looking but I can't help myself."
She shrugged. "I guess I'm supposed to be flattered in a disgusted way," Krissy said, taking her hair brush off of the vanity and beginning to brush her hair out. "Just try not to ogle. I'd rather be considered a piece of art instead of being objectified."
"You are definitely living art," he assured her. "But you don't seem to be humiliated by my intrusion," Kyle said with confusion. "I violated your space. Crossed a boundary."
"But you do admire me, don't you?" Krissy asked knowingly.
"Why are you letting me look at you like an outed voyeur?"
"You don't think I've been aware of your fantasies?" Krissy smirked.
"I was hoping you weren't," he said as he feared his heart stopped.
"You're as red as a Martian," Krissy giggled.
"I was always infatuated with you," he confessed.
"I know," she replied. "It was cute."
"Is this wrong?" Kyle asked.
"Yes," Krissy replied, leaning in to kiss him.
Kyle wrapped his arms around her naked waist and pulled her close. "You're the babysitter," he said.
"Not anymore," she reminded him, putting the hair brush back on the vanity, taking him by the hand, and leading him out of the bathroom.
Much later, when it was over and they lay together under the covers cuddling and listening to the rain outside, Kyle turned and looked at Krissy.
"My parents would say this was against the rules," he said.
"We won't tell them," Krissy said.
"You're my first love," Kyle confessed.
"But you'll be leaving," he sighed.
"First Loves rarely last forever," she warned. She nestled closer. "But we can enjoy ours while it lasts," she purred.
"Just don't tell Lisa," Kyle advised.
"Good plan," she agreed. "I always liked you best," she whispered, leaning in and kissing him.
"I miss Morton," Kyle sighed heavily.
"Let me help you with that," she said, rolling on top of him.
