Chapter 4

To Bosley's astonishment, he returned the kiss. He couldn't help himself.

"I haven't been with anybody since our final night together," he revealed.

"Geezo, Bose," Meredith replied. "That's a long time."

"It is," he agreed.

Meredith pressed herself to him and breathed into his mouth as she kissed him again. "Merry Christmas," She whispered, her voice sweet and sincere.

She helped him remove his skivvies underneath the covers and then she pressed her chest against him. Bosley breathed heavily during the proceeding kisses, each willing to give the other their body as a Christmas present.

Much later, in the quiet of the dark room, Bosley didn't expect it to feel this good about what they had done but he had missed her and he was glad to be with her again, even if it wasn't to last.

"Ho Ho Ho To All That," he whispered

Meredith turned her head and kissed him some more . "I knew," she said knowingly. "As soon as I saw you in your uniform, I knew this would happen."

"Thank you..." Bosley breathed.

"Merry Christmas," she said.

"Merry Christmas."

"I love you," she stated.

"I love you too," Bosley replied.

They both awoke early in the morning, concerned about the weather conditions in New England and their chances for finding a flight to Bradley before Santa came at midnight that evening.

Bosley turned on the weather channel and the reports looked encouraging. Most of the snow was in Maine now and as soon as Bradley dug out flights would be starting again. He got on his phone and started searching for two seats on any airline to Bradley.

Meredith had already left the bed to use the bathroom and when she returned, she lay naked on top of the covers watching him work the phone. He placed one of his arms across her bare tummy.

"We can eat at the airport," Meredith suggested.

"Sure," he agreed.

"Are you happy?" She wanted to know, her eyes sparkling.

"I'm Merry," he replied, leaning into her and giving her a kiss.

"So, we'll go home to Hillsboro, hopefully in time for my parents Christmas Eve party," Meredith said. "And we'll have a Merry Christmas and A Happy New Year together because it's Ho Ho Ho To All That and then we will return to our lives, me in California, you in Italy."

"And then what?" Bosley worried.

"It will be Goodbye to All That until we meet again," she said.

"No guarantees?"

"Are there ever guarantees in life, Bosley?" She asked as she cuddled against him and he wrapped his arm around her waist. "The only thing I can guarantee is that I will always love you."

"Merry Christmas," he said.

"Ho Ho Ho To All that," she smiled before giving him a quick kiss and rolling off the bed. "Let's go catch a flight," she said.

"With Santa, Rudolph, and the rest of the reindeer!" Bosley laughed as he hopped off the bed.
