Saving a Friend

"How long have you known Margaret?" Tarek asked.

"I have known Margaret for three years," Rigby said.

"Bryce, what are you doing here?" Rigby asked.

"I was about to ask you the same thing," Bryce said.

"I was following you," Rigby said.

"Why were you following me?" Bryce asked.

"I was curious," Rigby said.

"I am attempting to map the dungeon," Bryce said.

"You do not have a flashlight," Rigby said.

"What were you doing when my parents kidnapped you?" Bryce asked.

"I was playing a piano," Rigby said.

"I did not know you played any instruments," Bryce said.

"I am almost as good at playing a piano as I am at playing baseball," Rigby said.

The boys walked through the dungeon. Bryce closed his eyes and visualized the dungeon. He knew the dungeon had at least three rooms, including the room in which he and Rigby had been imprisoned. Bryce wondered what the other rooms contained. Bryce sighed and led his friend to the center of the dungeon. An earsplitting scream echoed through the dungeon. Bryce and Rigby shivered and sighed.

The boys exchanged glances and ran toward the source of the sound. The boys opened the door of the room and entered the room. The boys let their eyes adjust to the poor lighting and Rigby gasped. His friend Tarek was chained to a wall and covered in bruises. Tarek was naked. A vampire walked toward Tarek and unsheathed a sword. Bryce tackled the vampire to the floor and Rigby walked toward Tarek, who shivered. Rigby drew a knife and cut the chains binding Tarek to the wall. Tarek thanked Rigby and the boys embraced. Bryce stabbed the vampire with the sword and the vampire laughed. Bryce ran a hand through his hair and sighed.

Bryce noticed a pile of firewood. The boy walked to the firewood and selected a log. Bryce walked to the vampire and grinned. Bryce impaled the vampire and the vampire shrieked and disintegrated. Tarek donned his clothes and grinned. Tarek and Bryce embraced and Rigby sighed. Bryce and his friends exited the dungeon and walked through the forest. A wolf howled and caught an elk. The wolf stared at the boys and the boys shrugged. The wolf ate the elk. Bryce and Rigby returned to their houses. Tarek returned to his apartment. A ferruginous hawk screeched and flew to an ancient hickory tree.
