Well dang, it's been a LONG time since I have ever written anything original. But during a poetry workshop on my PGCE course, we had to write a poem about a time a lesson on our first school experience placement went wrong, and this is what I came up with. It was very spur of the moment and thus unpolished, but since it is original work, figured I may as well post it as is. So, yeah, here you go. Enjoy. Maybe I will write something else original soon. Hopefully. We will see.
The time is creeping up on me,
ticking closer to assembly.
So much more left to be done,
the crunching weight of failure already known.
Smile on my face, patience in my words, but
all the sounds, all at once
crowd up on me.
Shaking, close to breaking,
but still I carry on,
until finally, assembly comes, the children leave
and finally, I can unravel.
