Joseph and Mary traveled to Bethlehem, to pay a tax

Mary was large with child, and she needed a place to relax

They wandered to, and sought shelter, at the local inn

No place could be, found for them, Mary's labor did begin

Her days were, accomplished, her labor, was over and done

Mary had delivered, and brought forth, her firstborn Son

She wrapped the Babe, in swaddling clothes, a manger for His bed

In a food trough for animals, Jesus first lay His head

Shepherds were in the field, keeping watch, over their flocks by night

An angel of the Lord came upon them, they were filled with fright

The angel said, fear not, for I bring good tidings, of great joy

He then told them, about the birth, of a precious baby Boy

For unto you is born this day, a Savior, which is Christ the Lord

Then came, the heavenly host, praising God in one accord

The shepherds journeyed to Bethlehem, the trip they did not postpone

To go see the thing come to pass, to them the Lord, had made known

The shepherds told those there, what the angel said, about the Child

Those who heard the words the shepherds spoke, found themselves beguiled

But Mary kept all these things, and pondered them in her heart

I wonder if she knew then, the gifts her Babe would impart
