『ΟΠΕ - Ρrοlοgυε』

The democratic council of Haphaestus reminded Zac of an ancient Grecian chamber. Circular bands lowering to the centre of the room with marble pillars. On the opposing side of the room Zac's political rival stood wearing the white military uniform of most everybody in the room. A handful were exceptions, wearing robes and wreaths of various cultures that colonized the new world. Zac also dressed differently, now wearing steel armour, bandages and protective padding beneath a white cloak and hood. His elemental staff the same white wood topped by an opal sphere. He looked stern and wizened, brown bangs longer and a small goatee.

"I move for our next topic of discussion to address the Archelion issue." Slynn was a reedy man with sunken eyes. Zac disliked him greatly.

"Again, Slynn?" he didn't stand to speak and the neutral judge Vindo turned from his table closer to the room's centre.

"Please Elemental Zac, let us hear what your fellow councilman wishes to say." He turned back "Continue."

"Thank you, judge Vindo." Slynn dipped his head with his slippery, serpentine movements before addressing the chamber "We are all aware by now of the Archelion danger. While Elemental Zac has allowed for a council to make diplomatic ruling decisions on his half of Haphaestus, which we thank him for, it doesn't afford him to avoid scrutiny of his concerning actions."

Zac clenched his fist and held his tongue, despite the fact Slynn paused and was clearly hoping to be interrupted.

Slynn made another of his quick turns and continued "Elementals create people, more specifically people with powers called crushers. While Zac has complied with regulations to provide information on all his crushers, the elite clans he has developed are worrying enough. Nine elite clans, four of which are known as the noble elites, and one of them as you know is the one I'm referring to…"

"Archelion." Zac couldn't hold his tongue this time. "Councilman Slynn, this speech has been heard before."

"Indeed." Vindo conceded.

"I am only giving a necessary reminder for pretext, judge Vindo." He gave a slippery head bow. "One month ago Zac created another crusher belonging to his Archelion clan."

"There are five Archelion crushers in all of Haphaestus and they are spread around the half-world." Zac rebutted "Hardly a danger."

"That is besides the point and you know it." Slynn stared at Zac with his sunken, empty eyes "You have always been an elemental of prodigious skill Zac, and your skill has begun to show itself in the crusher clans you've created. The Archelion clan is too powerful and will bring danger upon our home planet. I move that you cease creating crushers from that dangerous clan at once."

"Enough!" Zac stood.

"Councilman I warn you to watch your temper." Judge Vindo spoke.

Zac took a deep breath while the room watched him. He was steady when he continued "Crushers of my Archelion clan are known for their calm, neutral temperament. They live as hermits away from civilisation and are also hunted, though none have been defeated yet. No Archelion has ever been responsible for breaking the law."

Zac turned to glare at his rival Slynn "The biggest threat to Haphaestus has always been the sorcerer Denzemati who single-handedly runs the criminal underworld of our planet, but whenever I move to bring our topic to him you always move against me."

"One lone sorcerer is not the biggest threat to our planet. Your crushers are." Slynn retaliated.

"His gangs have infiltrated every province we have!"

"I move that we not take our discussion off-topic." Slynn looked to the judge.

"Agreed. Zac you must save your concerns of Denzemati for another topic of discussion." Vindo decreed.

Slynn looked mildly victorious, he continued with his criticizing of Zac's greatest clan. The discussion was heated and Slynn pushed for more restrictions to be put on Zac's creative freedom. The heated topic took up a lot of their meeting time, and although no laws against the Archelions or their creator were made, Slynn had once more laid groundwork for further protesting. One of these days Zac was going to be put under some new regulation but if so he was going to fight it all the way.
