"Young rash walter"

The following screenplay is written in a form that is meant and intended to be enjoyed when read. Though being able to be turned into a play, it has been created with the intention to be enjoyed when read. THEREFORE, the screenplay will hold bonus information that would not be found in a normal screenplay such as details, Extensive setting details, lore and history.

INT. CORRIDOR

A man walks down a corridor at a fast pace, we can see it's a big large hall with posh furniture and lit by candles on big dark metal candelabrums. On the walls a banner is seen. It's a black banner, on the middle lies the silhouette of a yellow boar. This is the national banner of the Kingdom of Colinion.

The man reaches the end of the corridor where a double wooden door lies. At the sides two guards wait for his arrival, they open the doors.

INT. WAR ROOM

He goes inside. The doors close behind him. He enters a room full of men, they have been waiting for his arrival.

Commander 1

Oliver, finally, what kingly news do you dispatch?

Oliver

The King calls for war.

Commander 2

(chuckles)

War!? Oliver, war against who?

Oliver

The King wants to declare war against the south.

Commander 3

South… a whole damn continent lies south, you must be more concrete.

Oliver heads over to a table were 2 glass jugs stand on it, one is empty and the other one is half empty. Some glasses also lie on top of the table. He grabs a cup and looks inside to check if its clean, he takes it up to his nose and smells it. He grabs the jug and pours himself some brandy. He turns around. He drinks. Looks at the men.

Oliver

That's the Kings target, south.

Commander 1

The target of the king is Adelty!?

Oliver

Frankly it is.

A man stands up, he was sitting on a chair close to the hearth, he seems of age.

Grand Marshall

Oliver, is this certain, can you not change his mind?

The tone has changed now, the idea of full out war is not a laughing matter.

Commander 2

We cannot go to war because one simple child pleads for it, the Earls wont yield. Our allies will not show.

Oliver

We will and shall go to war, because our king calls for it, our Earls will compromise for the King calls for it!

Commander 3

What shall be the point of this campaign?

Oliver

The King wishes to, re-establish the Colinic empire, and create the Kingdom of Adelty under Colinic blood line.

Commander 1

Has he gone mad?

Grand Marshall

If the King calls for it, it must be done, but Oliver, you are his advisor and guardian, can you not change his mind, can't the high council change his mind?

Oliver

Do you not think I have not tried; don't you believe I will keep trying? The King sent me here to inform you that in a fortnight we leave with the Kings army south.

Commander 1

A fortnight! Fantastic, let us just mobilize and prepare a force of 10,000 men, 4,000 horses, hundreds of wagons, not to mention the supplies and additional troops from the earls. It cannot be done.

Oliver

It will be done, for the King calls for it, besides the King believes you were informed long ago.

Commander 2

Why were we not informed?

Oliver

I believed I could persuade his mind in not going forth with this, but he shows great stubbornness

Grand Marshall

So truly, there is no chance.

The grand Marshall leaves the corner and goes to the middle.

Men, you heard Oliver, prepare the Kings army, establish supply routes, send pigeons or horse-back messengers across the Kingdom to inform that we march towards war. If the King calls for war it shall be done.

The Commanders linger in the room in disbelieve, they are not sure if this is a joke or some rash idiotic order.

Don't just stand there! This is an order!

The commanders start to leave the room, except commander 1.

Commander 1

Sir, this is a bad idea and you know it is, we must stop this madness, there will be no pride or courage in this war, as it's a kid's spoil.

Grand Marshall

Never mind what is right or wrong, fight for your king, fight side by side.

The commander 1 looks puzzled suddenly.

Commander 1

Will the King fight? He is just a boy.

The Grand Marshall looks at Oliver.

Grand Marshall

Will the king fight?

Oliver

I'm, not sure.

Thus, the Kingdom of Colinion prepares for war simply because a child calls for it. But he is no ordinary child, he is the King of Colinion, being one of the strongest nations in both Adelty and Westadel. He holds an army so massive; when marching together it seems to be an ocean. It's a time when war is fought with swords and axes, bows and arrows, and a time where everything is ruled by an absolute monarchy.

INT. HALLWAY

Oliver looks for the King, he walks through the grand halls and rooms of the grand palace of Festos. Festos: the capital city of the Kingdom. A large city home to hundreds of thousands of people, some would say millions. It holds the palace of the King, grand libraries and administrative buildings, big large harbors for hundreds of ships, garrison buildings and large trade plazas and markets. Festos, the main hub of trade in the north, henceforth the most important trade city for Colinion. Also, the city of Festos holds guard to the entrance of the Hogs river, the most important river in the land.

The grand palace of Festos also known as the grand abode is around 0.35 km2. The grand palace is formed by colossal gardens, some fortified buildings and some not so much, a massive light house, one large library, hundreds of antique unused armories, hefty barracks: some used, some not so much. One massive throne room, extensive dungeons, immense kitchens and eating halls, substantial wine cellars, sizable sewer systems and much more, though it's known as the palace it's more like a small royal district, like the Vatican city.

INT. KINGS CHAMBERS

Oliver reaches the chambers of the King, guarded by two guards, they open the doors for him. Inside there is a bedroom with a large bed and a nicely lit hearth, in front of it a dog, that seems to be nibbling on a bone. Close to the window is a table with two chairs, on one chair sits a kid, around 11 years of age. He is King Walter.

Walter

Oliver, finally you show yourself, so, how are we doing? Will we march forth soon?

Oliver

I have told you already, a campaign of such size takes time to form.

Walter

Yes, I know, but a fortnight is all you get. Too many overpaid lazy cunts sit in that war room doing fuck all.

Oliver

A foul mouth as yours would have had any noble child locked in a tower without food for days.

Walter

And a threat to a king like yours would have had your tongue cut off, your eyes gouged out, and your fingers pulled off by hounds, before skinning you alive and placing your head on a pike. That's if the King could not get creative.

Oliver

Luckily, mine was not a threat.

Walter

Luckily, I am King.

OLIVER

(Chuckles)

Yes, you are a king.

Walter

I am "the" King. Anyways, any news from the war room.

Oliver

They don't seem to share your enthusiasm for this war.

Walter

Well, that is too bad then, though they will do their duty, yes?

Oliver

Yes, of course my King.

Walter

I told you, you don't have to call me "my king" sounds odd, sounds as if you are a lick arse.

Oliver

Yet you give unwise orders, like a king that wishes to be pampered.

Walter

Wisdom comes with age, I'm only 11.

Oliver

Then let wiser folk execute orders.

Walter

No, where is the fun in that? they already tried to give me a bunch of useless rules and classes on how to behave.

Oliver

Yes, they did, you did not take them very likely.

Walter

No, I told them to fuck off.

Oliver

Walter…

Walter

What happened to "my king". Enough! When are we heading out?

Oliver

Well…

Walter

Well!?

Oliver

It's on the way, but there are questions to be answered.

Walter

Questions? This is war not a fucking questionnaire.

Oliver

No disrespect but what do you know about war.

Walter

Not much, that's why I'm eager to learn.

Oliver

Sending men into a blood bath, is not an effective way to learn.

Walter

I'll fight with them, don't worry I'll learn.

Oliver

You will fight?

Walter

Yes, already ordered an armor set to my size.

Oliver

You seem very sure of yourself.

Walter

Oh, I am.

Oliver

What if you lose the war? Then what Walter, will the people still love a king that started a war for no reason and lost?

Walter

I intend to be victorious, or I intend to die. There shall be no defeat and no surrender on my behalf.

Oliver

You speak like if you know what the pains of war are. Frankly I don't see a child last long.

WalTer

Me neither, but once you jump of a cliff, it's too late to go back, like any soldier that marches to war, he shall not know the pains that he shall endure till he is in his destination, and then he will be stuck.

Oliver

You are known to give dumb orders to get your way, how do you know you won't do it in the battlefield.

Walter

Will it rain tomorrow?

Oliver

Rain? What?

Walter

I don't know either, that does not mean I shall back down and stay indoors because there is a slight chance, I shall go mad in the battlefield.

Oliver

What an idiotic analogy.

Walter

I know, I'm only 11.

Walter turns to a map on the table he sits in front of, it is the map of Adelty. Adelty is a continent created by different nations. At the top Colinion, south of Colinion lie the Free States. Under the Free States lies North Thron and under that: Colinion's main enemy, Thron. West of North Thron lie the Corrupted Mountains. North West of North Thron lies the trade bridge, a piece of land that connects the two continents that create Westadel. On the trade bridge most of it is covered by Tonragel, though there is also a small nation known as Carnor. We can also find the Woodmen Realm and the Lakeland Kingdom.

We will depart from Festos and then we shall head on south till the Free States.

Oliver gets closer.

I will except little to no resistance here.

Oliver

I hope you don't intend to plan the campaign yourself.

Walter

No, I have schmucks to do that.

Oliver

(sighs)

Carry on.

INT. WAR ROOM

The doors to the war room once more open and Oliver once more enters, this time the small war room is empty except for the Grand Marshall, an old wise man with experience of many wars and battles.

The room is lit by a nice hearth and banners are on the wall. The Grand Marshall sips his cup of brandy and he sits in front of a massive table with a map of Adelty on it as well, this one bigger than the one the king had. It has figurines and wooden boats indicating where the forces of Colinion are.

Grand marshall

So? Any hope?

Oliver

No. The king will fight in the war as well. He will not change his mind.

Grand marshall

War it is then, drink with me Oliver.

Oliver heads to the table grabs a cup of brandy, grabs a chair and sits close to the Grand Marshall complementing the map in front of him.

Oliver grabs a wooden figure with a boar with a crown drawn on it, it's on top of Festos in the map.

Oliver

Do we have a chance?

Grand Marshall

Everyone thinks the King has gone mad, and that his plan is insane. But he knows we can win, and he knows some Earls will support this campaign.

Oliver

There is a chance of victory then?

Grand Marshall

Not exactly, but neither will it be defeat.

The Grand Marshall grabs the figure on top of Festos that symbolizes the Kings army, a force of 10,000 men.

We will march forth from Festos down to the towns of Shoats. Here we can except an additional 6,000 men. Then we march down to Bordertown with a force of around 16,000 men. Then an additional 4,000 men in Bordertown await.

Oliver

20,000 men, we will need more than that.

Grand Marshall

Enough to take the Free States, we can wait in Saddle or Riverside for the rest of the forces, but we still await confirmation of the rest of the Earls.

Oliver

Who is left?

Grand marshall

The Earl of North Coast, The Earl of East Deep, The Earl of East Head and a clear answer from the Earl of Far Bay. The Earls of from the Lea will support all the supplies for the campaign, and hopefully some men.

Oliver

Half the Earls have not answered?

Grand Marshall

No, you didn't give us much time, but we will manage, they will not defy the Kings orders and it's a good investment for lords and Earls across the land. They will come.

Oliver

If not, we shall see oblivion.

Grand Marshall

(sighs)

The King is not stupid, he knows we can win, and he knows the armies will come.

Oliver

Will we expect resistance in the Free States then?

Grand Marshall

The Free States? Of course not, we will march through Saddle with no problem. The Dwarves won't care, and neither will the elves. The freemen, they are not much of a threat are they. Maybe Riverside will try and resist but we will outnumber them around 15 to 1.

Oliver

Will they not call for aid?

Grand Marshall

And who will show? The King knows that the factor of surprise will benefit us greatly.

Oliver

Carry on…

Grand Marshall

I'm guessing we will pass right by Midtown without a scrape and the armies of Eastmount will not show, they will hide in their fortified city. Then the troubles begin.

Oliver

North Thron…

Grand Marshall

There are two main fortresses that protect the entrance to North Thron, we can except them armed and ready for battle. Though North Thron's army will be much weaker and smaller than ours, their horse charges will manage to create great casualties on our side though.

Oliver

No way to avoid?

Grand Marshall

Marching thousands of men and horses, wagons and trebuchets and other siege engines will not be easy, we can only stick to the spine road, we will be vulnerable till we arrive at Crossroads.

Oliver

That could take weeks.

Grand Marshall

Yes, that's why we will have a distraction, one the King himself came up with.

Oliver

And what shall that be?

Grand marshall

To send the armada and take the city of South Lagoon.

Oliver

South Lagoon?

Grand marshall

It will give us a good anchor point to create a distraction and to land both resources and men, we will except the city to be taken easily. We march in through the harbor and the citizens wil run off through the main gates. Little blood no effort.

Oliver

This does not change the fact we will be hammered through North Thron?

Grand Marshall

No, if not we would have done it years ago.

The Grand Marshall grabs the figurine and places it on top of a town called Crossroads.

Then we will finally take crossroads, here we will build our main camp.

Oliver

Crossroads shall be a piece of cake.

Grand Marshall

Yes, have you not been to that shithole?

Oliver

Many years ago.

Grand marshall

Then you can imagine how easy it will be, weak wooden palisade.

Then he grabs the one he had before, and places is it on a city called Thron Lake.

Here is where hell will start, the capital of North Thron. Here we will expect the most casualties and the longest siege. If we do not succeed swiftly, I fear reinforcements of Thron.

Oliver

And then we shall be fucked.

Grand Marshall

We might be able to secure our position, but most likely we will have to return to Crossroads and bunker down there.

Oliver

Then we lose the factor of surprise and speed.

Grand marshall

We only have one chance to not make it a bloody mess. Though if we do succeed and manage to march south and secure our borders westbound, we will find ourselves in a standstill. But at least we will have Thron Lake taken.

Oliver

A standstill?

The Grand Marshall grabs a few figurines with the figure of a Griffin with a sword on them. He places them in the border in-between Thron and North Thron.

Grand marshall

We won't be able to enter the peninsula, the campaign we'll fall into an absolute standstill.

Oliver

Then what?

Grand Marshall

Then, there is only one way to find out.

EXT. HALLWAY

Oliver walks out the room, the guards close the door behind him. He walks at a past phase through the palace, suddenly he sees a young lady. The lady stops him.

Barbara

I see the King has gone mad.

Oliver

Not mad, just spoilt.

Barbara

I see that, maybe you should have let me take care of the boy as his mother intended.

Oliver starts to walk down the corridor. Barbara follows

Oliver

The father intended me to take care of him.

Barbara

And now we march to absolute war.

Oliver stops walking. Barbara stops as well

Oliver

You blame me?

Barabara

Maybe.

Oliver

Well if you are so eager to take over go ahead, so make sure he is present in the war feast.

Barbara

Oh, I will.

EXT. NORTH COAST

We see a big fisherman town in the north of Colinion, mostly built out of wood. The town seems to be built into the water in some parts, creating big canals and small canals throughout the town. In front of the town lies the great northern sea, with hundreds of ships, some small some big.

INT. NORTH COAST MAIN HALL

A man enters the main hall of the main building of North Coast, a grand wooden building in the middle of the town.

Adjutant of Earl of N.c

My Earl, a scroll from the capital.

The Earl grabs the scroll, he reads it. He laughs.

Earl of North Coast

This is incredible, fucking incredible.

Adjutant of Earl of N.c

What is it, my Earl?

The Earl follows with reading the scroll to everyone in the room that has quite a few people in it, noble people and other military personnel. The Earl stands up to read it.

EARL OF NORTH COAST

Order from the King of Colinion, Walter the Young; To prepare the Kings armada for an invasion of South Lagoon.

To captain Robertson who shall wait for the Armada of Festos and Far Bay, once the Armada is reunited it shall sail to East Head. From there under the orders of Captain Robertson the invasion of South Lagoon shall commence.

Further information will be given in the foreseeable future. Start preparing and provisioning the Kings Armada.

Message of, representing the King:

Grand Marshall, Everette Acer.

The Earl sits down and places the scroll down.

First the king starts a war for no reason, now this.

Captain Robertson

I shall start preparation for this… invasion?

Earl of North Coast

Yes, go ahead captain, after all you are in charge of the Armada, the admiral must be dead or something.

The Earl a fat man starts to laugh.

We would not want to defy the Kings orders now, at least we won't send any men south to die on land.

Everyone lingers in the room for a short while, captain Robertson leaves the room.

Don't just stand there, we are at war!

INT. KINGS CHAMBERS

We hear a knocking on the main door, then it opens. Barbara walks in.

Barbara

May I?

The King is thrown on his bed reading a book; Ainsley's war tactics. He stands up.

Walter

Oh, it's you Barbara. What do you want?

Barbara

You have a feast in a few hours, you know, the one for your war.

Walter

I don't like feasts.

Barbara walks up to Walter and sits on the bed next to him, she gets the book.

Barbara

Ainsley's war tactics. Is it any good?

Walter

Its, okay.

Barbara

Any cool tactics.

Walter

Some. There is this one that is very bold. You create a massive shield wall, and you wait for hours in front of the enemy as they rain you with arrows. Once They are fed up you open the shield wall and out comes your cavalry, smashing through the un-ready army that thinks you are weak as you hide behind a shield wall.

BarBARA

Ha, very clever. It would also be clever to go to the feast to get the support of the people.

Walter

I'm the King I was born with their support.

Barbara

You talk so pompous and unwise, not a good King.

Walter

Not a good King?

Barbara

For now, you show none of it, you give dumb orders, you don't go to feasts, and hide away in your chambers all day long.

Walter lies his head on Barbara's arm.

Walter

Fine, I'll go to the stupid feast.

Barbara

Good, you won't go dressed like this though, right?

Walter

What's wrong with what I'm wearing?

Barbara

(sighs)

C'mon let's get you changed.

INT. FEAST HALL

People are sitting down, music is playing, a lot of noise and chaos, a ton of food and drink. People laughing and talking out loud, all awaiting the King. Oliver is seen to a side, talking to a man. This man seems worried.

Minister of defence

He better show up, or you might as well kill him.

Oliver

Relax.

Minister of defence

Relax!? He doesn't show up to half the feasts, and I must relax!? We are at war because of this stupid child.

oliver

Show some respect he is your King, tell me again, what is your job? The Grand Marshall leads the Kings army and the Earls take care of their own, you might be the one that shows up dead.

The minister looks disgusted.

Minister of defence

I Take care of diplomatic matters.

Oliver

Yet none of our allies will show.

Minister of defence

Well I can't do miracles.

Oliver

If you can't, well then you are useless.

Minister of defence

Well, as soon as the war goes public, I will have to control the shit storm.

Out of nowhere trumpets start to play. The main doors open, everyone stops doing whatever they are doing and stand up.

Kings spokesperson

Your Majesty: King Walter the young. Protector of Colinion, Earl of Festos and Boar of Colinion.

Walter walks in with people around him, he walks straight to the main table located at the end of the room. He sits down. He looks around and sighs.

Walter

Please, sit down.

Everyone sits down and the feast resumes. Oliver goes and sits next to him. To his other side is the Confidant of the king, and though he shows little interest on the young king he makes a pretty good job of taken care of Colinion.

Oliver

I'm glad you could make it.

Walter

Barbara insisted I should come.

Oliver

Good, it's your chance to gain the support of the lords. These men hold at least 20,000 men between them.

Walter

Alright, alright. I'm, here aren't I? Most of these men will fight for justice anyways.

OLIVer

Justice?

Walter

Thron has too long spat on us, killed our sons, disrespected us and made us suffer. Not 10 years ago they attacked us, we might seem like the evil ones here, but every man in this room knows its justifiable.

Oliver

Does not mean you should not seek the best way for your people.

Walter

This is the best way for my people, peace can only be achieved with blood.

Oliver

We are at peace now. Why go to war.

Walter

It was a matter of time before they attacked us, and you know it. I'm sure my Confidant agrees. Do you?

He taps on the shoulder of the Confidant as he eats and talks with someone else.

Confidant

What is it?

Walter

Would you agree the war is a good idea?

Confidant

No war is a good idea, but yes, though many may believe this war will only bring misery, it's better to attack first than last.

He turns back to his conversation.

Walter

See, even my stupid Confidant agrees with me, the man that wants me most out of the throne.

Oliver

He doesn't want you of the throne, he just doesn't believe a kid can rule.

Walter

Would you agree.

Oliver

Yes.

Walter

Yes!?

Oliver

Do you not leave it all to the council and your Confidant, except this war, have you governed?

Walter

I guess, but I'm just a kid.

Oliver

There is your answer.

A lord walks up to the King, he seems to be scared and shivers in nerves.

a lord of North coast

My king, I see preparations for war are on the way.

Walter

Yes, it will be a war that shall never be forgotten.

A lord of North coast

Of course, not my lord…

There is a pause.

Walter

What is it you want to speak with me?

A lord of North coast

I don't believe I can supply men for this cause.

Walter

You cannot? What is stopping you?

A lord of North Coast

It does not seem… to be the… enough investment for me.

Walter

Investment!? When your King calls for his men it is not an investment!

A lord of north coast

I Know my lord, but my men do not want to fight.

Walter

You give me excuses, if you cannot rule your men, maybe you should not rule a tall.

A lord of North coast

My king…

Walter

Just go.

The lord bows and starts to head out. Walter stands up

This is not the last of me that you shall hear.

Walter sits down again, turns to Oliver.

Who is he?

Oliver

If I'm not mistaken, he owns the land at the south of the province of North Coast.

Walter

How many men does he have to his name?

Oliver

Not many, 300 or so.

Walter

Have him murdered.

OLIVER
Murdered?

Walter

Yes, this is treason.

OLIVER

Treason?

Walter

We don't want other lords revolting, do we?

Oliver

Then make it through a court of law.

Walter

Sounds… Ineffective.

Oliver

You won't get lords to like you with murder.

Walter

Fine then we shall have a court of law.

Oliver

Very wise my king.

Walter

By the way, how is my armada doing.

Oliver

Your armada…

EXT. NORTH COAST PIER

Captain Robertson. stands on a pier looking at the sea. From the distance you can see hundreds of ships arriving, though it's hard to see as its night. All sails have a boar on them.

INT. NORTH COAST MAIN HALL

We see Captain Robertson enter the hall, and he addresses the Earl.

Captain Robertson

The armada is here, we will sail tomorrow morning.

Earl of north coast

Good. Captain apparently you shall lead this operation, make North Coast proud.

Captain robertson

Of course, my Earl. I will address the rest of the captains then.

Earl Of north Coast

Do, and captain don't let any capital schmuck question your authority.

Captain Robertson

I will make sure they do not get out of line.

INT. HALLWAY NORTH COAST

Captain Robertson bows, he heads out. He goes down a wooden corridor lit by candles on the wall. He reaches a double door. He opens it.

INT. A HALL OF NORTH COAST

The captain walks into a room full of men, they are mostly captains of the fleet and other marines of the Kings armada. They all await his arrival and they wait for him as he shall give the main hearing of the operation.

Captain Robertson

The King has ordered for a… an attack of South Lagoon and I intend to make it happened.

The men seem to not be amused.

I have been ordered to direct this mission. So, first we shall head to East Head and finally collect the last ships that will make our grand armada. We should be counting with roughly 150 ships and some 6000 sailors. We will also be taking soldiers that will lead the siege on the North Thronic city. It should be a quick mission, with little bloodshed and I don't expect any resistance on the way.

Some mumbling is heard from the back. Then a captain from Festos shouts something.

A Captain of Festos

Go back to fishing!

A few men laugh.

CAPTAIN ROBERTSOn

Who the fuck said that!? Who the fuck said that!? I will have your sails and I will have you whipped!

Everyone goes silent.

Anyone, fucking anyone? Now you all grow silent. I did not ask for this job, but it was given to me and I will take it with grand honor. I won't take anyone's bullshit likely. Look men we have a mission to do, and if I'm in charge it will go swiftly. So, show some fucking respect and do your job. We are men of duty; we must get the job done. I don't mind laughs I don't mind some whiskey in the jar, but I will not tolerate this disrespect among our ranks. So, get on your boats, prepare your sails, and we sail south! In the name of the King.

Everyone answers.

Everyone

In the name of the King!

EXT. FESTOS

We see a grand view of the city of Festos and the grand abode, palace of the King. We can see its early morning. We see trade ships on the water in front of the city.

INT. JUSTICE HALL

Oliver and Walter walk down a corridor.

Walter

We must get this with over fast, we must leave for war.

Oliver

You deal with this and we leave.

They enter a room; the previous lord of the feast is in the room. There are also guards guarding the room. All the benches where the expectaters would sit are empty. Walter sits down on the chair that has a table in front, it is facing the lord and the empty benches, there are three chairs, one is empty, the middle one resides the king and on the other one Oliver.

Walter

As you decided to be a coward you shall be punished.

A lord of North Coast

Though being a coward is no honor, it is not a crime my King.

Walter

How fucking dead do you want to be, are you taking the piss!?

Oliver turns to Walter.

Oliver

You cannot charge him with, "being a coward".

Walter

Of course, I can I'm the King.

Oliver sighs and turns to the lord.

Oliver

The King charges you with treason.

A lord of North Coast

Treason? My King only because I did not wish to spill my men's blood?

Walter

Everyone is putting a bit into this fight; you don't get excused. Death.

A lord of North Coast

Death!?

Oliver

Death?

Walter

Yes, I have made up my mind. How do you plead?

A lord of North Coast

Plead to death? What?

Walter

What?

Walter turns to Oliver

Oliver

You plead innocent or guilty, not death.

Walter

But I know he is guilty. So now what?

Oliver

Nothing… just why death?

Walter

Trust me, we avoid a revolt within the lords.

The side door suddenly opens, it is the Confidant of the King, he sits next to Walter.

Confidant

So, what are the charges, and what does he plead and what is the sentence?

A lord of North Coast

(desperate)

He has charged-

Confidant

Quiet.

Walter

Charged with treason, sentenced to death.

Confidant

Sentenced to death?

He looks at Oliver with a disappointed face.

Walter

Yes, he does not wish to fight.

Confidant

And thus, he shall be executed? Does it not seem rash?

Walter

It is done, I'm not going back now.

Confidant

Fine.

Oliver

Fine?

A lord of North Coast

Fine!?

Walter

I King Walter, King of Colinion son of Stephen find you guilty of treason and sentence you to death. Guards take him away. Confidant have him executed.

The guards start to move in.

Confidant

No, you passed the sentence, you must be present for his execution.

The Confidant makes the guards stop with his hand. The guards halt.

Walter

But I'm going to war, you are staying here. You can do it.

Confidant

You may do it now, before you leave.

Walter

I… I will wait.

Confidant

Wait? We can't wait, he must be executed immediately.

Walter

Of course, but… it might bring bad luck for this campaign, you know?

Confidant

Then a less harsh punishment may be favorable.

Walter

I guess, but…

Confidant

Let it to me my King, you are far too busy with other matters.

Walter

Yes, after all you are my Confidant.

Confidant

(sighs)

Yes, I am.

Walter

Good, we march to war then.

Walter leaves the room. The Confidant indicates the guards to remove the lord, they follow to do so.

Confidant

I leave him with you, and he is already executing a lord at the age of 11!? He will be done with half the nobles when he reaches the age of 20.

Oliver

I did not expect him to execute him.

Confidant

Of course not, he has a big mouth to give big orders. But he is just a child, make him watch the execution and he will back down. Guilt Oliver, one of the key points of manipulation.

As the lord is being removed:

A lord of North Coast

Thank you so much. I will-

Confidant

You are still accused of treason, a very serious offense, and treason comes with much more than an execution, a few weeks of torture would apply, unless…

A lord of North Coast

Unless?

Confidant

You join the war.

A lord of North Coast

…yes, of course I will.

Confidant

Good, guards escort him out of here

The guards escort the lord out of the room. The Confidant turns to Oliver.

Keep him safe Oliver. Keep him safe.

EXT. HALLWAY

Oliver leaves the court room and is shortly acquainted by Barbara. Barbara goes up to Oliver.

barBara

I see you are heading out finally.

Oliver

Yes, it seems to be there is no going back.

Barbara

I will march with you then; I'm not staying in this stinking city anymore.

Oliver

War is no place for a young woman.

Barbara

I thought the army was taking 100 women.

Oliver

As nurses.

Barbara

I shall be the Kings nurse then.

Oliver

Barbara it's not safe.

Barbara

Yet a child is going.

Oliver

He is the King, he can decide.

Barbara

Then let the King decide if I must go.

Oliver

You know the King will let you go.

Barbara

Then why are we arguing about this? I will ask the King, then you can't do shit.

Barbara walks off, and so does Oliver soon after.

EXT. FESTOS GATE

We see the army of the King march out of the main gates of the city, thousands of men, wagons and horses. This is a proper military caravan.

Oliver and the Grand Marshall appear on scene, they are looking at the army. They are both on horses and are wearing armor.

Oliver

I never thought it would happen.

Grand Marshall

Ah its great isn't it.

Oliver

I thought everyone was against the idea.

Grand marshall

Everyone loves the idea, no one wants to say it though. Basically, the King has belled the cat.

Oliver

A war is equal to belling a cat?

Grand marshall

Never mind, look Oliver all the lords want to go to war, if they win good, if they lose, they blame a child.

The army still marches out the main gate. The King comes out the gate with two of his guards behind him, he too waring armour. they are all on horses. Walter goes up to Oliver and the Grand Marshall.

Walter

Well gentlemen, let's do this shit.

Oliver

Walter, I must speak to you.

Walter

What is it?

Grand marshall

I will leave.

The Grand Marshall rides off, the guards leave some distance but stay close to the King. Walter looks at the army that is still going through the gate.

Walter

Its massive isn't it?

Oliver

Yes, massive. Walter-

The King cuts off Oliver.

Walter

Look, its Barbara

We see Barbara on a horse going towards the King and Oliver.

Oliver

(To Himself)

Shit

Walter

What are you doing here Barbara?

Barbara

Someone must make sure you come in one piece.

Oliver

That will be me.

Barbara looks at Oliver.

Walter

Well if Barbara wants to come along, I see no trouble.

Oliver

Walter, a battlefield is no place for a young woman. Rethink this.

Barbara

Why not Oliver?

Oliver

It just isn't.

Walter

Look, it doesn't matter if it's not a woman's "place", if she said she can handle it she can handle it, if then she can't, she can't. Only one way to find out.

Barbara

Very wise my King.

Barbara rides off followed by Walter. Oliver stares at the remaining of the army leaving the gates of Festos.

EXT. NORTH COAST

We see a lot of men carrying boxes and other cargo, animals in cages, weapons of all sorts…etc. We also see a lot of armored soldiers boarding the ships. We can hear orders being screamed and other sounds. The Armada is preparing to leave. We zoom out to see the vast ocean. We can already see many ships in the water with open sails heading out.

END OF ACT 1

EXT. COLINION COUNTRYSIDE

The great army of Colinion marches through Colinion trying to reach the city of Bordertown. They march with some 16,000 men, thousands of horses, wagons and other supplies. They have already passed through the towns of Shoats. At the very front of the caravan, 3 soldiers on horses holding up the flag of Colinion. We see King Walter, Oliver, The Grand Marshall and Barbara behind them, everyone is on horse back.

Walter

Not going to lie, it sure feels good to have 16,000 men behind my back.

Oliver

Good?

Walter

Good and powerful.

Oliver

What about the woman that have lost their sons to this cause, what about the kids who have lost their fathers, do they feel good?

Grand Marshall

Give it a rest Oliver, no blood has been spilled yet, a hefty war always brings employment and gives a cause and a duty to many young men.

Oliver

The problem is the cause.

Walter

Colinion always makes sure to keep all its citizens well treated and fed, they say North Thron has seen a famine and that Thron looks away.

Oliver

Therefore, we should wave our sword shoot our bows and plant our banners on their soil?

Walter

It's called to liberate the oppressed.

Barbara

Cut it out both of you, you have been at it for weeks.

Oliver

I'm just giving him a piece of mind.

Walter

Of course, you are. Any word on Carnor?

Grand marshall

What about Carnor?

Walter

Will they join the war?

Grand marshall

As our colony they will support us, but they don't have enough men to join the bloodbath.

Walter

Well, it seems to be we are all alone.

Oliver

All alone? We march with 16,000 of the finest men.

Grand Masrhall

A few more days, and we shall arrive at Bordertown.

Walter

Hm, Bordertown, have I ever been so south?

Oliver

When you were a baby you did go to Bordertown with your father.

Walter

Bordertown, the city that protects Colinion. Is Colinion not protected by 5 main castles?

Grand Marshall

Yes, they are known as the 5 gates. Bordertown being one, west to that you have the West Gate and west of that the Sea Gate. To the east lies the East Gate and east of that Jacobs gate, though many call it the ghost gate as its abandoned.

Walter

Abandoned? isn't that a security concern.

Grand Marshall

Well not abandoned, all the gates are under maned. Jacobs gate is massive and only holds a few soldiers under the command of a rogue knight.

Walter

A war has begun and the castles that should defend our grand nation are abandoned!?

Oliver

Oh, look, the King showing some kind of intelligence.

Grand Marshall

Don't worry my King, we do not expect the war to happened on our soil.

Walter

It's still a security concern.

Grand Marshall

Yes, but-

Walter

I want it sorted; we are at war.

Walter rides ahead leaving the Grand Marshall and Oliver.

Oliver

How does it feel.

Grand marshall

You can't blame him if he wants to defend his nation.

EXT. SADDLE

We see a carriage rushing through the streets of a small city made of stone, the city is Saddle, capital of the Free States and the first city in the path of the grand Colinic army.

EXT. FORTRESS CORTYARD

The carriage arrives at a small fort, the doors open. The carriage stops and a man rushes out, he's in an obvious hurry.

INT. FREE COUNCIL ROOM

He enters the room. He is a man, he is one of the 3 council members that make the council of the free, that in some part overlooks the Free States, though the States that form the Free States do whatever they want.

The council is conformed of a man, an elf and a dwarf. The elf being a skinny agile very pale looking creature, taller than a dwarf smaller than a man. They live in the woods in houses made out sticks mud and other things they can find. They look like beaver houses if that gives you an idea. The dwarf. A stubborn, bearded, small sturdy man. They live in the mountains in cozy tunnel systems that go into the mountains. Though the grand halls of dwarves are impressive engineering masterpieces. Last and least, a normal man, he lives in a built house, drinks ale, is selfish and loves violence. They hold the fate of the Free States.

ELF CO. Member

Late again, in time of chaos?

Man co. member

Ah c'mon, no need to make a big deal.

DWarf. co. Member

Fuck off, you selfish self-absorbed shit, we meet in your kingdom and you still arrive late.

The man sits down, they sit around a round wooden table. There is some cups and a jug of wine in the middle, god knows how long it has been there, they are covered by cobweb. There's a small hearth at the side of the room and a few candles to light up the place.

Man. co. Member

My Deepest apologies. We don't have time to lose, the rumors seem to be true. War is on the horizon

ELF. CO. Member

(sighs)

So, the rumors are true.

Man. co. member

That's what they all say. The King marches south with an army the size of…

elf. co. member

Size of?

Man. co. member

Well that's the thing, I don't know something that big.

Dwarf. co. member

Then it's done, the dwarfs won't fight for you soil, anyways the dwarves have always found Colinion better than those fuckers to the south.

Man. Co member

You will just hide in your mountains then.

Dwarf. co. Member

Fuck off, the elves will hide in their woods, and if we were to be attacked you were to ignore us.

The dwarf grabs a cup and pours himself some wine, it smells like vinegar. He does not care. He is a Dwarf. He drinks it all.

Man. co. member

May I refresh your mind dwarf, we are a nation, a united nation.

Dwarf. co. member

Ah c'mon man. You know we have no chance, give them what you want and let them pass.

Man. co. member

You have already surrendered?

DWarf co. member

No, you see the war is not with us dwarves.

MAn co. Member

I shall rejog your memory, we are one united free nation.

DWarf. co. member

The war is not with us, let them through, let it pass.

Man co. member

I never thought of dwarves as cowards.

Dwarf. co. member

Ha! ask the elf what he thinks.

The man looks at the elf.

ELF. Co. Member

I somehow agree with the Dwarf, it's not worth it.

DWARF. CO. member

Only a dumb retard will go to war with Colinion. Let them pass.

The man looks with a disgust face to the elf.

ELF. CO. MEMBER

What about the Thronians, will they come and fight with us, if we do go to war?

MAN. Co. Member

No. They don't take the threat seriously. The think that rumors and eyewitnesses are not enough to gather the armies.

DWARf. Co. member

Call me a coward if you want, but you know that fighting against Colinion won't help us. We must play smart here man, we are not the target and we better not get in the fucking way.

MAN. CO. Member

So then its settled, neither the dwarves or the elves will show in battle.

DWARF. CO. MEMBER

Neither will the freemen mark my words.

EXT. EASTERN SEA

A few days out, and the royal fleet of Colinion should arrive at East Head, a port city in Colinion. Here the last ships will join the armada and at last the armada will be at its full potential. Then they shall sail for South Lagoon, a port city in North Thron located at the south of the country.

We see hundreds of ships sail the sea, its dark. We zoom into one of the biggest ships at the front. We see Captain Robertson look ahead, at the open sea.

A man walks up to him.

MIDSHIPMAN

Captain, at this rate a few more hours.

Captain Robertson turns around.

Captain Robertson

Good, at this rate we will arrive at South Lagoon before the King can arrive at North Thron.

Midshipman

Yes, my captain, it seems the wind is in our favor, now we can expect the war to go swiftly.

Captain RObertson

We can't rely on the wind to win this war, only because luck has shone on us, does not mean we must not be ready for any situation.

Captain Robertson walks towards the back of the ship. The Midshipman follows.

Any news of East Head, are they expecting us so soon.

MIDSHIPMAN

According to their message, they have had the docks ready for us long ago.

CAPTAIN Robertson

Excellent, my first time in full command and it seems to be, everything is going great.

INT. SHIP STERN

The guards open the door to the Stern/Captain quarters. The ship is big, so they walk not into a room but a corridor. They walk down it towards the room located at the most back of the ship. It has windows, a small confined hearth and a table with chairs.

Captain Robertson grabs a cup and a jug, he pours himself some brandy.

Mark my words, this war will go down in history.

EXT. BORDERTOWN WALL

A guard looks ahead and starts to see the Kings Army marching towards them. Bells start ringing.

GATE GUARD

OPEN THE GATE!

The main gates to the city start to open. The city of Bordertown is a large city that holds the entrance to the nation of Colinion. At first it was a military base, but with time it came to be a important strategical city of trade. The city has strong sturdy stone walls that protect it. The city lies on a flat field and has a circular shape.

The King, his army and his company ride though the main gate to a wide road with cheering crowds. The Kings is welcomed and so is the army. They ride on to the whitewashed keep on the middle of the city. The Keep is of Norman build style.

EXT. CASTLE BORDERTOWN BAILEY

The King rides into the Bailey, followed by Oliver and the Grand Marshall, other important commanders and Barbara joins them. The Earl and his family and other nobles of the Borderlands wait for his arrival. They all bow for their King has arrived.

Earl of Bordertown

My King, the last time you were here, you were merely a toddler, look at you now.

Walter

Yes, time passes by quickly, though we already met, it's a pleasure to meet you yet again.

Walter gets of his mount. So do the Grand Marshall and Oliver.

This must be your charming family.

Earl of bordertown

Yes, indeed, my wife, my youngest son whose age is 6, and my daughter who's age is 16.

Walter

It's a pleasure.

Grand Marshall

Time has not been nice to you, my old friend.

Earl of bordertown

Good to see you too.

Oliver

Not the best reason for visit, but good to see you too, old friend.

Earl of bordertown

Let us go inside, for there is much to speak of.

INT. HALL OF BORDERTOWN

They enter a small hall with tables and chairs, here the folk of the town go and greet the lords and inform him of any troubles.

EARL OF BORDERTOWN

Sit in my chair if you will.

WALTER

You flatter me, there is no need though, a normal chair will suffice.

The Grand Marshall, Oliver, Walter, The Earl and a military General sit down.

Eaerl of bordertown

This man is my top military man, he is called Colton, he will go with you and command the troops of Bordertown, of course under your command.

Walter

It's a pleasure Colton.

Colton

The pleasure is mine, my King.

Grand Marshall

So, how many men on the ready?

Earl of bodertown

We have mobilized 4,000 men, though you are here so soon.

Walter

Only 4000?

Colton

The Bordertown army counts with 4,000 soldiers, 1,500 horses, 100 wagons 2 trebuchets and…

Walter

We need more numbers! Did East Head not send their soldiers already?

Earl of bordertown

No sign of them here, they have sent no message warning us of the hosting of the Eastern army.

Walter

So, we march into Saddle, with half the expected.

Oliver

Walter, war is not a day to night matter, it can take months to prepare such army, the rest will come, patience seems wise.

Walter

The more we wait, the stronger the foe.

Oliver

Sometimes all one can do is wait.

Grand marshall

My King, though we are missing a portion of the army, entering the Free States with these numbers will suffice.

Colton

Yes, and rumors have it, that the Free States won't fight back.

Walter

These are not assurances, I need more swords, any word from Far Bay and its army?

Grand Marshall

They could take months to arrive here. We do not wish to move all the armies of Colinion though.

Walter

We don't?

Grand Marshall

My King, I call for patience.

Walter

Yes, yes patience won't cut it!

Earl of Bordertown

My King, wait for the rest of the men, forge the army and enjoy the trade city, its castle and atmosphere.

Walter

Patience is what you recommend, patience I shall have. As soon as the army is good to go, we march south.

EXT. CASTLE BATTLEMENTS BORDERTOWN

We see Walter looking at the city from the top battlements of the castle, he looks bored, he wants war. We can see that not too far behind are 2 of his guards keeping an eye on him.

Barbara comes into the shot; she walks up to Walter. Walter sees her but does not greet her.

Barbara

What you looking at?

Walter

Nothing, there is nothing to see.

Barbara

Does a city not lie under your feet?

Walter

Yes, my city lies under my feet, and so what?

Barbara

You seem pissed.

Walter

I'm bored, waiting, and waiting, and waiting.

Barbara

You thought war was only action?

Walter

War should only be action.

Barbara

You want action head down to the streets.

Walter

To the streets, and do what there, be escorted by my guards, cheered by some a booed by others? No thank you.

Barbara

People do not know your face, dress like a peasant and you shall be a peasant.

Walter

That… That could be interesting, though if Oliver finds out.

Barbara

Are you not King?

Walter now turns and faces Barbara.

Walter

Yes, I am, I am King.

Barbara

Then, what are we waiting for, I'll get you the clothes.

Walter

And I'll tell Oliver to fuck off.

Barbara

Well if he does not find out, the better, after all, I will get the scolding if he finds out.

Walter

Don't worry Barbara, while I wear the crown you are under my protection.

barbara

As your King desires.

EXT. CASTLE GATE

Guards guard the gate of the castle, though the gate is opened it is heavily secured, we see Walter, he is dressed in his peasant clothes, he looks around and waits for Barbara.

Barbara finally comes, she as well is not wearing the most glamorous garments.

Walter

Finally, you are here!

Barbara

Yes, yes, I'm sorry.

Walter

So now what? We simply sneak out.

Barbara

Leaving is no problem, the problem will be coming back, they won't let us in.

Walter

I'll just tell them I'm King.

Barbara

And they are bound to believe you? With those looks. Remember Walter, you're a peasant now.

Walter

Huh.

Barbara

There is only one way to find out and that shall be later.

Barbara heads for the gate. Walter panics, what if they recognize him.

Walter

Barbara!

Walter calls for Barbara, but not too loud as he does not want to call himself any attention. Barbara walks out the gate, Walter runs to her, he goes through the gate with no problem and into the busy streets of Bordertown.

Barbara

Well, that was not to hard was it?

Walter

No, rather easy.

Barbara

C'mon let's explore this city.

EXT. STREET OF BORDERTOWN

The 2 of them walk down the street, other walkers, carriages, little markets and horses, guards and banners, they all beset the street. They walk down it, and meanwhile talk side by side.

Walter

Bordertown, the guard city of Colinion.

Barbara

Now a filthy trade city.

Walter

Just like Festos then.

Barbara

I guess, but Festos has its charm, the harbor, the palace, the gardens, this is just trade, filth and rats.

Walter looks around and observes scenes of quarrel and trade, chickens heads being cut off and other animals in cages, potatoes and turnips by the mountains, meat hanging on claws, and yum the smell of some fresh pastries.

Walter

Smell that?

Barbara

Yes, Colinic pastries.

Walter

Shall we treat ourselves?

Barbara

I did not bring any coin, you can have anything to eat back in the castle, and you want something to eat now?

Walter

Am I not Ki-

Barbara

No, you are not, you are a peasant with no coin.

Walter

Please…

Barbara

The King using please!?

Walter

Fine, ill starve.

Barbara stops Walter and points at a dark allay, there many beggars sitting down, some sleep some beg.

Barbara

They starve, you suffer a much worse curse.

Walter

A much worse curse? Let me guess, am I spoiled?

Barbara

Ha, spoiled, but clever.

They keep on walking.

Walter

Did my mother not leave you in charge to raise me properly, if I'm spoiled you failed.

Barbara

The day you were born, the day your mother died I was there helping in the delivery, and your mother held me from my hand and told me to take care of you. That's what I did, though, well, Oliver intervened a lot. So, if one is born in power and a silver spoon up their arse, it is not a wrongdoing of mine, but a curse that comes with the crown.

2 guards walk down the road, everyone getting out their way, they are big men, armored and both carrying a halberd each. The King forgets he is a peasant, and does not move, neither do the guards, and though Barbara moves out the way she does not notice Walter's stubbornness, he snatches his arm but it's too late. The guards collide with Walter, Walter falls to the ground.

GuARD 1

Watch it you swine.

Guard 2

Can't you control your dog!?

They laugh

Walter

Fuck off and move out my way.

The guard snatches him from the arm hard. Looks him straight into his soul.

GUARD 1

Straight into a cell with the rats you go.

GUARD 2

Barely what? 10? And no respect for authority, they are going to beat the shit out of you kid when you grow up, a little redemption in a cell may save your life.

Barbara

No, Please!

GUARD 2

Shut that hole in your mouth you whore, if you want to pick your useless swine after we release him, he will be at King Walter's Street, in the Bailiffs home.

Walter

Ironic.

Guard 1 slaps the back of his head.

Guard 1

Shut it.

They start to take him away. Barbara panics.

Barbara

Walt…

Walter

Just inform Oliver, someday I'll be free, I'll be fine.

INT. BAILIFF HOUSE DUNGEON

The room is dark. One candle lights up the room made from wood that smells of damp and piss. They open a cell door to a small cell. The floor covered in straw and mud. They close the cell door.

Guard 1

The disrespect

The guard spits on the floor close to him, he smashes the cell door, locks it with the keys and grins at him. He leaves the room. Walter inhales air, in a fed-up way and sits down on the cold, wet floor.

Prisoner

What you've done kid?

Walter looks at the cell next to him, in it a man, with ragged clothes and a face with no expression, skinny and his voice dry, thrown on the floor.

Walter

Nothing, just got in their way.

Prisoner

Only? You must have done something else.

Walter

No... Well I told them to fuck off.

The prisoner laughs.

Prisoner

You are not from here, are you? Who are you?

Walter

Eh- I'm just a poor boy, from a poor family.

Prisoner

Well, kid. You are rash and bold, I like that.

Walter

Let's hope that gets me far, and not dead.

Prisoner

Well kid, people with more power than you will always shit on you, insult you, fuck you right up, and once they are done, they will do it again. It's a cruel world we live in, and figures with power will always look down on those who don't. And they hate bold rash people.

Walter lets that sink in, after all he is the most powerful person in the Kingdom, maybe even the continent.

Walter

I guess, but I don't intend to stay powerless much longer.

Prisoner

Well kid, that is one mindset we all have, but not many achieve it.

There's a pause.

Kid, where are your parents, they must know you are here?

Walter

Dead, both.

Prisoner

Sorry kid, at least you have experienced pain already. Who you live with then kid?

WalTer

With, with… my aunt?

prisoner

You don't seem sure.

Walter

Yes, my aunt Barbara.

Note Barbara is not Walter's aunt but a close friend/ servant of his deceased mother.

Prisoner

She provides a safe homestead?

Walter

Yes, we live grand.

Prisoner

Good, good. That's is very important kid. But don't you go causing any trouble of such and ending getting locked up.

Walter

I know, but I do not take shit of others likely.

Prisoner

(chuckles)

I See. That will probably get you killed kid. 10,000 words

Walter

True, but I will manage.

Another long pause.

Tell me one thing prisoner, why are you in here?

Prisoner

I stole some bread from a market stand, I know it's wrong, but a man has got to eat.

Walter

Have you no other means? Must you resort to crime?

Prisoner

I wish, I wish I could work, buy me some food, some ale, a roof.

WALTER

Not enough employment in the city?

Prisoner

It's a viscous circle, I used to have work, then I lost it, I starved so decided to turn to crime, once you turn to crime no one will hire you and thus one must resort to crime again, and again.

Walter

What about the army? They accept anyone that can wield a sword.

PRISONER

War? Not for me, it only brings misery and hunger.

Walter

I guess, but freedom is not free.

Prisoner

Thousands of men are being sent to war because of a child I never met, living in a city that I have never seen gives an order. They don't fight for freedom, but for a child's stupidity.

Walter

Don't disrespect the King like that.

Priosner

Facts kid, facts, it's no disrespect. The day war brings good, then to war I shall go.

Walter

The war only brings good if everyone gives a little bit to the cause.

Prisoner

War is an enemy to all mankind, the thought of it just blows my mind.

Walter

You're a coward!

Prisoner

I'm not a coward, I simply want peace.

Walter

So, then you're a pacifist

Prisoner

Yes, exactly

Walter

All pacifists are cowards, they seek peace but never take any of the responsibility of achieving it.

Prisoner

Call me as you will kid, I shall still rot in prison.

Walter

I wonder why.

They stop talking and an awkward silence enters the room. Time passes by. The Jail door is suddenly opened. Five of Walter's personal guards come into the room, so does the guard that put Walter in the cell. Barbara is also there. The guard is shaking as he opens the locked door.

Guard 1

I'm so sorry, I… I did not know.

Walter stands up.

Walter

The disrespect

The prisoner that once was talking with Walter looks at the situation very confused. Everyone leaves the prison, except the prisoners.

INT. MEETING HALL CASTLE

The doors open and Walter enters a room where the Grand Marshall, Oliver, the Earl of Bordertown and Colton are. They all stand up on his arrival.

Oliver

My King, what retarded shit did you do now?

Walter

Ah c'mon Oliver, we just went for a little walk

Oliver

You're the King, you can't put yourself in those kinds of situations, unescorted. Could you imagine what could have happened to you, the guards or prisoners…

Walter

No need for a heart attack, I was escorted by Barbara most of the way, the rest of the time I was safely in the hands of Bordertown law enforcements.

Earl Of bordertown

He has a great sense of humor Oliver, give him that.

The Earl laughs laughs

Oliver

I'll be sending Barbara straight to Festos then.

Walter

You will not!

Oliver

She is meant to take care of you, not put you in danger.

Walter

She gave me a taste of true Colinic life, and I saw something worth fighting for.

Oliver

You are King, preparing a campaign of war, not a tourist.

Walter

If I'm King, I'll do as I please, when I please and with who I please. Is that clear?

Oliver

Oh, it is, do as you please, but you shorten your life expectancy by a lot, and you have no heir!

Walter

I laugh in the face of danger Oliver.

Oliver sits.

Be sited

The rest sit down as well. Walter follows to do the same.

So, any news?

Earl of bordertown

Any news?

Walter

Yes, any news, my army, the campaign!?

Colton

My king, we are glad to inform that the Earl of Fouth has sent 1,000 of the finest cavalries of Fouth and the Dail.

Walter

Finally, some good fucking news. What does that leave us at?

Grand Marshall

21,000 men.

Walter

Enough to take out our foes?

Grand Marshall

To be frank 21,000 men is a very solid number, don't forget the additional soldiers travelling with the navy. But the more the better.

Walter

Then get more.

Oliver

You speak of the men as if they are simple goods, expendable goods, with no real value unless in bulk.

Walter

Yes, war is tragic Oliver, and yes, sadly we must look at men like goods, but I honor every single man that fights for Colinion, and they die for glory, no greater honor.

Colton

We know, North Thron wont able to make an army the size of ours.

Oliver

They do have the numbers though.

Grand Marshall

Yes, they do, but they don't have a proper army, they won't be able to mobilize all their men.

Oliver

Should we risk it?

Grand marshall

It's up to the king.

Walter

We march in a week, I won't wait one more day.

EXT. EAST HEAD SEA

The ships close into the city of East Head. East Head is the eastern port for Colinion and thus very popular in trade. East Head is a big walled city with a large port and harbor. On an island not too far from the coast is the East Head castle, though not very big it's one of the most fortified fortresses in the land, being protected by the sea, and only one bridge going up to it.

INT. SHIP STERN

Knocking is heard, followed by the double doors opening.

Midshipman

Captain, East Head is in sight.

Captain RObertson

Already? Excellent.

Midshpman

Prepare the ships for docking, captain?

CAptain Robertson

Do, it might seem we will be here a while, the King has not left Bordertown.

EXT. DOCKS OF EAST HEAD

The captain's ship is now docked, and cargo is being unloaded, it's very busy. Captain Robertson now is in sight walking through the docks inspecting everything.

Servant

Captain Robertson!?

A man looks for Captain Robertson, he doesn't know who he is, he looks around looking and asking at all the officials but nothing. Captain Robertson goes behind him.

Servant

Captain-

Captain Robertson

Robertson.

The servant turns around.

Servant

You must be Captain Robertson. The Earl calls for your presence. We have a carriage on the ready.

Captain RObertson

Oh, all ready. Very well guide the way.

INT. MEETING ROOM EAST HEAD CASTLE

Captain Robertson reaches the castle, he enters a small room with a table and chairs around it, on the side there is food and drink. The are 2 men talking to each other. There is a door leading to a balcony with the view of the sea. A red carpet on the floor, 2 candelabrums with no candles on them and a banner on the wall.

EARL of East HEAD

Captain Robertson! Finally, I get to meet you, the legend of the north.

Captain Robertson bows his head

Captain Robertson

Yes, indeed, what lovely estate you have, the docks are grand and the keep grander.

Earl of EAST HEAD

Oh please, stop it. This is my son to take over once I'm dead.

Simon

Captain.

The Captain bows his head slightly.

Earl of east HEAD

We were just discussing, this war… not only does the king want my ship's but my land army as well!

Captain RObertson

Yes, in times-

Earl of east HEAD

Please, please sit down. Fancy a drink, something to eat? The herring is freshly caught.

Captain RObertson

No, I'm fine thank you.

Earl of east HEAD

You must be knackered.

Captain RObertson

Long days at sea, but that's what I signed up to.

Earl of east HEAD

Good, I like a man who sticks to compromise, after all, you will oversee my ships.

Captain Robertson

Yes, I was very surprised,

The Earl signals the servants to bring some brandy.

I was not expecting it.

Earl of east HEAD

Well, you do believe you will do a fine job, yes?

Captain robertson

Of course, I don't believe it, I will do it directly, no time for doubt in times of war. Call me cocky if you will.

They put 3 cups on the tables and pour some brandy into them.

Earl of east HEAD

Ah, now that's a reassurance. But anyways if the Grand Marshall believes you can command, you can command. Though I'm sure both the Festorians and Far Bayers have been giving you trouble.

Captain robertson

They don't believe one from North Coast can command, but the slash of a whip and they shut their mouths.

Earl of east HEAD

Well good, fuck them. With the Grand Admiral getting old and big city boys getting cocky, some new blood is what we need.

Captain Robertson

Aha.

Earl of east HEAD

I like you Captain, I can see you are a tough skin. My son here, though I try my best to raise him, he is a poofter, has not seen war

The son who goes by the name of Simon looks at his father embarrassed, he is around the age of 17.

I'll send this one with you, if you don't mind a worthless child on board.

Captain Robertson

I'm sure he is not as worthless as you think, he looks strong.

Earl of east HEAD

True, I'm sure I didn't totally fuck his raising up, I wouldn't say worthless, just insignificant.

Captain Robertson

Are we not all in this massive world?

Earl of east HEAD

No, my Captain, I'm an Earl, you're a Captain and he is nothing. Some are worth nothing, some are worth something, this lad is nothing.

Captain Robertson

Well, if he is nothing, I'll turn him into something.

EXT. BORDERTOWN

We see the southern gate of the city of Bordertown. There are 2 guards moving people away from the entrance.

VIllager

Let us in, what's going on?

Guard Bordertown

You cannot pass, orders of the Earl.

Villager 2

What is going on though?

Guard Bordertown

Use another gate, this one is closed.

Villager

For fuck sake, let us through! we must get to the markets!

Guard bordertown

Use another fucking gate, this one is fucking closed.

Suddenly out of the gate come out 2 horsemen holding banners, then one more. The Caravan starts to leave the city. Thousands of men marching, with their horses and wagons. The villages look in awe to the mighty army. The guards making sure they don't interfere.

The Grand Marshall and Oliver soon ride through the city gate.

Grand masrhall

Well, no stopping us now, we are going to hit them like a battering ram.

Oliver

Yes, a very bloody one.

Grand marshall

Better to be a bloody one, than a soft one, remember Oliver, they are the enemy.

Oliver

Something does not feel good about this war, I've said it once and I will say it again.

Grand Marshall

Light up Oliver, we have just started, don't crack up on me. Your honor and sense of right and wrong clouds your judgment, remember the only right thing: whatever your Kings orders.

Oliver

Am I not on a horse marching towards oblivion.

Right behind them also on horses we see Barbara and Walter.

Barbara

Excited?

Walter

Yes, and to believe I have never been outside of Colinion.

Barbara

Well, neither have I.

Walter

Well they shall tremble, for we come with a force of a furious storm.

Barbara

I Thought you came to liberate.

Walter

Famine has killed, and too long scorched that land. I will make sure no one ever goes hungry, in my Kingdom, in Adelty or in the World.

Barbara

How do you intend to do that?

Walter

First conquer, then rule and then feed.

BArabara

Thousands of people will die before you get to the feeding part, never thought about that ay?

Walter

Well I'm doing all I can, it's a long journey south. Hundreds of miles before we can get anywhere. Days will turn into weeks, weeks into months and when we finally arrive, we will have to enforce freedom and proper rule. They will see me as a tyrannical cunt, but soon they will know I come for good.

Barbara

Tell me, if you intend to feed them and save them from famine, why would they fight back?

Walter

Because… because they are fools, that let pride get in the way of everything.

Barbara

Would you surrender if it meant the salvation of your people?

Walter

Surrender to who?

Barbara

Thron for example.

Walter

Never, I would rather die under a Colinic sky, than live in a Thronic one.

Barbara

How do you think they feel then when you come to take away their sons?

Walter

I… I… I do what must be done, if they want to fight, go on. That's why I brought my own army. Lets not forget, that 10 years ago they attacked us!

INT. EAST HEAD ROOM

Someone knocks on the door of the temporal chambers of Captain Robertson, he is looking at a map and planning an invasion.

Captain Robertson

Yes?

Servant

A message from Bordertown.

The Captain stands up and heads to the door. He opens it and gets the message.

Captain ROBertson

Thanks.

Servant

The Earl also wishes to see you.

Captain RObertson

Very well, thank you.

The servant leaves. He reads the scroll. He leaves the room closing the door.

INT. MEETING ROOM EAST HEAD CASTLE

He enters the room; the Earl and his son Simon await him.

EARL OF EAST HEAD

Captain!

Captain RObertson

Earl.

EARL OF EAST HEAD

It seems to be the wayward child left Bordertown a few days ago, they must be almost at the gates of Saddle if not already.

Captain RObertson

The King moves fast indeed.

EARL OF EAST HEAD

Some Brandy?

Captain RObertson

Im fine-

Earl of East HEAD

Servants!

Nothing

Servants! Where the fuck they go now.

Captain RObertson

They must have assumed that it was a secretive meeting.

Earl of East head

Ah, c'mon, almost the whole Kingdom knows we march towards war.

Captain robertson

Would that not destroy the surprise factor?

Earl of east head

Fuck surprises, war is one with blood and iron. Simon, do yourself useful and get us some brandy.

INT. SIDE PANTRY

Simon stands up and leaves the room, he son of the Earl soon to be Earl was a man of few words. He was around the age 17 but his father was getting old, fat and falling into alcoholism, another young soul would rule. He grabs 2 cups full of brandy and walks back to the meeting room.

INT. MEETING ROOM EAST HEAD CASTLE

Earl of East head

He doesn't say much this one

Simon places the cups on the table.

Captain RObertson

But one day it will all come out. Splatter on the floor.

Earl of East head

The day that ensues, I don't want to be around to hear it.

Captain RObertson

Why have you summoned me? I'm not saying banter is not enjoyable, but I'm sure there is a reason.

Earl of east head

With the King arriving at Saddle, you will soon embark towards the port town of South Lagoon, yes?

Captain Robertson

Those are my orders, that's the plan I, will execute.

Earl of east head

You will go with many of my ships, I want to know, every step you take, the logistics, the men count, the-

Captain robertson

I will take care of your ships, you don't need to worry.

Earl of east head

I do worry, I don't know you, hence don't trust you. Look, I just want my ships and men to be under my command.

Captain robertson

I sail with the ships and sailors of every Earl with access to a port, all sailors are Kings men. They will all have the same treatment from my behalf for in my eyes they are all Kings men! And all Earls will be informed the same way and the way I find sufficient. You do not get any special treatment.

Simon smirks in the distance.

Earl of east head

I don't intend to have special treatment, Captain. I want my men to be safe, I want to watch over them. Does that create too much work for you? After all, you sit in a boat all day Captain.

Captain Robertson

You will be informed of the progress of the Kings armada, the times I find sufficient.

Earl of east head

Well let's hope that your claim of sufficient is my claim of sufficient.

Captain robertson

It should be, unless of course you wish daily reports of the doings of your men, from their shitting to their self-pleasuring.

Simon smirks again.

Earl of east head

I see, you're a serious man, one that does not tremble to say what he wishes to an Earl. But please Captain, not in my Castle, not Infront of my son. Because many brave men, brave but stupid have said stupid things and have ended like shards at the bottom of the cliffs.

Captain RObertson

You threaten me while thousands of my sailors and soldiers flood your city streets.

Earl of east head

Did I stutter?

They look each other in the eye for a while.

Simon

More Brandy fellas?

Earl of east head

Shut your fucking mouth Simon. I don't trust you Captain.

Captain RObertson

Why, because I'm not willing to suck your dick, I'm not your puppet Earl.

The Earl stands up.

Earl of east head

How fucking dare, you! Ill have your fucking head.

Captain RObertson

I am the Kings Captain with the Kings Armada, don't you dare threaten me or-

Earl of East Head

Or!? You might be sent by the King, but you are in the East Head. You King can't protect you here. Guards!

Captain RObertson

I don't need the Kings protection because I have the Kings army. You want war, you will have war.

2 Guards arrive.

Earl of east head

Take him to the… Get him out of my castle at once.

The Guards go to grab him.

Captain RObertson

Don't fucking touch me or I'll have you both hanged.

Captain Robertson walks out escorted. The Earl sits down.

Simon

What have you done!?

Earl of east head

What I must.

Simon

Is your pride worth getting into war? The Captain soldiers flood the city.

Earl of east head

I only wanted to control my men. My ships, mine!

Simon

Now what? The King is rash and bold.

Earl of east head

I did not do nothing.

Simon

Well…

Earl of east head

Simon, tell the guards to seal the castle and the keep.

Simon

Father?

Earl of east Head

Just in case. Never trust people from North Coast, Simon never.

EXT. CASTLE BRIDHE

We see Captain Robertson walking on the bridge that leads to the castle, the castle behind him. A guard is heard from the distance.

Gate guard

Close the gates!

The Captain turns around looking at the castle, he first sees the portcullis fall slowly, afterwards the drawbridge starts to raise. The captain turns away of the castle and grins.

EXT. CITY OF SADDLE OUTSKIRTS

A small little city is seen in the distance, it is the capital of the Free States.

Grand marshall

The city of Saddle my King.

Walter

Our first objective. Should we prepare a siege?

Grand marshall

They will not fight, my King.

Walter

Why not, have they already surrendered?

Grand marshall

More like, they will not bother. Look closely, their gates are still open. Listen.

Walter

I can't hear anything.

Oliver

That's exactly the thing, the bells are not ringing.

Walter

So they see an army, not knowing if friend or foe and do nothing?

Oliver

They know who we are, and they know our intentions.

Walter

No! this was supposed to be a surprise attack.

Oliver

Don't be a fool Walter, we have been marching for months, you think the word doesn't spread.

Walter

But our surprise factor?

Grand marshall

We still have it, everyone is too lazy to do anything about it before its affecting them or it's too late. Human nature, Walter.

Walter

Then we march forth.

The grand army gets close to the gate, banners fly on the empty battlements. Not a guard on sight.

Do, we… just march inside?

Oliver

Scared?

Walter

Never, just concerned.

They walk into the quite town, windows closed, stores closed, empty and dead. A sign that says armorer moves in the wind ¡, making a small screeching sound. Walter looks at it.

Have they fled the city?

Oliver

No, just hiding, staring at us.

They keep on marching through the roads, onto the main square. No one, nothing. Some wagons and some empty market stalls.

walter

It's giving me the creeps; I prefer blood and iron.

Grand marshall

Nothing to be concerned now, we have thousands of soldiers with us Walter.

Walter

If the city is empty, should we not loot it? Find the treasury and sack the shit out of it.

Grand marshall

Eyes on the real target Walter, we don't want no trouble with the freemen. They sure are no threat, but surely an inconvenience.

They pass another sign; this one says has a cup on it and an ale stick on it. Also screeching in the wind. Then another sign, this one says elvish goods.

Walter

The capital of Saddle, just empty, no guards or citizens, what about the council of the free. Will they not greet us?

Oliver

The council of the free is an illusion, to seem to be one united nation, they are not. You will have your resistance at the true capital – Riverside.

They reach a large door, and see the southern gate, the way out.

Walter

My first city, and not a foe in sight.

Oliver

How disappointing. I also wished to brutally kill men and children and rape some woman. You don't think when you talk do you.

Walter

Why would I?

The army of Colinion passes through the first city out of their own borders and no battle is to be seen.

INT. STERN OF MAIN SHIP

The Captain enters his ship stern, and sees a fellow captain of another boat, he is one of Captain Robertson's North Coast friends. His name is Murray.

Captain Robertson

Murray? What are you doing in my ship.

Captain murray

Bigger chambers, I thought you were staying at the keep?

Captain Robertson

Too much fucking pride blinds everyone in this Kingdom.

Captain Murray

What's going on?

Captain Robertson

We might have a war in our hands… a local one.

Captain MURRAY

Robertson…?

Captain Robertson

The Earl is a cunt, and has threatened me.

He grabs a cup of Brandy and jug.

He wants, special treatment, I told him to fuck off, and he tells me I will be a bunch of shards at the bottom of a cliff.

Captain Murray

And you threatened him back, of course…

Captain Robertson

What else was I supposed to do, kneel and give in.

Captain Murray

He is an Earl.

Captain Robertson

And I the admiral of the King's armada.

Captain Murray

Promoted yourself?

Captain Robertson pours himself a drink. Looks at Murray's cup.

Captain Robertson

Another?

Captain Murray

I'm fine, what are you going to do with this business?

Captain robertson

The Earl has closed the gates to the keep.

Captain Murray

Expecting an attack from you?

Captain robertson

So, it seems, I don't want him to do anything stupid, make sure tonight we have double the guards.

Captain Murray

Double the guards!? In a friendly city, the soldiers and sailors will know something is up.

Captain RObertson

Something is up. Just tell the guards the Earl asked for an extra set of hands to control the towns people, in these times of conflict.

Captain Murray

Makes sense. Careful though, East Head is a powerful Earldom. You don't want to be spilling shit around.

EXT. BLOOD VALLEY CAMP

The great army, rests for the night, in the valley of the free, or the blood valley, where once great battles scorched the land. The army rests somewhere between the city of Saddle and the capital of the Freemen – Riverside.

It is getting dark, but there is still visibility, the dusk creeps in. We see Walter with a bow and a few arrows. He shoots, and hits the target, nowhere close to the bullseye.

Barbara sees him train.

Barbara

You suck…

Walter

What!?

Barbara

Nothing.

Walter

I heard you just fine, look at this.

He shoots but the arrow doesn't even hit the target this time.

Shit! It's not my fault this bow is shit.

Barbara

Don't blame the bow, the bow was made by one of the finest craftsmen in the Kingdom.

Walter

Well, this probably is his worst bow. Every crafter will have his worse craft eventually made.

Barbara

Could be, or maybe you are just not very good with the bow. You might be more of a melee.

Walter

Well lets fucking hope so.

Barbara

Must you speak with such a foul mouth Walter?

Walter

Sorry, I'll try to keep my shit together

Barbara

Sigh

I hope so.

EXT. BLOOD VALLEY CAMP

Oliver walks through the camp observing the troops, waving, greeting and helping.

Colton walks up to Oliver.

Colton

Oliver.

Oliver

Ah, Colton, any news?

Colton

A message of Bordertown, 2000 soldiers from East Head will be joining us.

Oliver

Another 2000? I thought the Earl of East Head made it clear he was only sending his ships.

Colton

Rumors have it, that Robertson gave him a hefty threat.

Oliver

A threat?

Colton

Not sure of the details, but the Earl wishes to remain in good terms with the King.

Oliver

Well, that is good news. We will have to increase our supply lines, keep the men fed.

Colton

Already done. Nothing starts a mutiny, rebellion and madness faster than hunger.

Oliver

Great then.

Colton

I already informed the Grand Marshall, and other important officials.

Oliver

And I must inform the King?

Colton

Don't mind doing it myself, but the King might feel more comfortable, if the news comes from you.

Oliver

Ah, the King won't mid. Do it yourself Colton, get yourself in the Kings liking and then into the royal court.

Colton

Sure thing.

EXT. BLOOD VALLEY CAMP

Back to the archery range we see Walter fire again, and we see Barbara sitting on a hay bale.

Barbara

He misses again.

Walter gets annoyed. Colton arrives.

Colton

There is no excellence in archery without great practice.

Barbara

There you go Walter, a bit of wisdom.

Colton

Or my King, you can always use a crossbow.

Walter lowers the bow.

Walter

Thanks for the advice. What brings you here… Colton right?

Colton

Yes, and I bring good news; East Head has just sent us 2000 soldiers.

Walter

That is good news. We will have to have them fed.

Colton

Already sorted, my king.

Walter

Fantastic.

Walter lifts his bow and shoots at the target, one more time missing.

Colton

May I?

Walter

Sure, bow is busted anyways.

Colton grabs the bow, grabs an arrow, shoots and misses.

Colton

Wow, what's wrong with this plank of wood.

Walter

See. I knew there was something wrong.

Barbara stands up.

Barbara

Oh please, you just both suck.

Barbara grabs the bow from Colton, grabs an arrow and shoots. Though she doesn't hit the bullseye, she does get to hit the target.

Barbara smiles at them.

Maybe, woman should be fighting the wars and not the men.

Colton

Oh please, I was just bluffing.

Grabs the bow from Barbara, grabs an arrow, shoots and perfectly hits the bullseye.

Walter

Well, so was I!

Walter grabs the bow back, grabs an arrow, shoots and though not hitting the bullseye, he gets it on the target.

Walter smiles.

See.

Colton

Well, well. It seems men should be fighting the wars; don't you think Walter?

As Walter keeps practicing

Walter

Always has been and always should be.

INT. GRAND MASRHALL TENT

Oliver heads into the tent of the Grand Marshall, though not very big, it is more luxurious than your standard tent. The grand Marshall is sitting at a table writing stuff down.

Oliver

Busy I see.

Grand Marshall

The campaign does not run itself, what is it?

Oliver

What is it? Can't I visit an old friend.

Grand marshall

The last time I saw you, you told me to fuck off.

Oliver

Fine, 2000 men have been sent by East Head?

Grand marshall

A very devoted Earl don't you think.

Oliver

Is something up? It seems odd.

Grand marshall

Want a drink?

Oliver

I'm fine, I hope East Head is not turning into a land of turmoil, now with the grand armada there. I don't know this Robertson fellow.

Grand marshall

I know him, he is a good man.

Oliver

Good man, we don't want trouble.

Grand marshall

Sure, maybe Captain Robertson has pressured him a bit, he only sends the troops to create stronger bonds with the King.

Oliver

More men and all, is good. We don't want this to get out of our hands now.

Grand marshall

We are in a camp, somewhere between fuck nowhere and fuck all. Stop worrying and let the Prime Minister, or how you call him, the confidant take care of them internal affairs.

Oliver

That does not help.

Grand marshall

Look, I'm sending to messages one to captain Robertson, to calm the fuck down and another to the Earl thanking him for his contribution to the cause, that will keep whatever is going under the carpet.

Oliver

Good.

INT. EAST HEAD TAVERN

The tavern is busy with soldiers and sailors, wine and brandy, ale and mead all being served by the gallon, and a lot of food to go around, salty gammon, baked potatoes, cheese and bread is seen in almost every table.

Captain Murray enters the tavern with a message.

Captain Murray

A message has just arrived.

Captain Robertson stands up a bit grabs it and sits back down.

Captain Robertson

What is it?

Captain Murray

Whatever it is, it came through the East Head dovecote.

Captain robertson

Shit, whatever it is it must be serious.

Captain Robertson opens the scroll and reads it.

Captain Murray

So?

Captain Robertson

A message from Everette, basically telling me to calm the fuck down.

Captain Murray

Then that's not that bad.

Captain Robertson

They arrive at Riverside within the week.

EXT. OUTSIDE THE WALLS OF RIVERSIDE

We see a soldier on a horse holding a pole with the flag, then another, then another. The Grand army has reached the capital city of the freemen – Riverside. They see the large stone, crooked walls. Every so often a tower with a top of wattle and daub and black tiling. We see a city guard pick through the battlements, and a giant ocean of death lies in front of his eyes.

Walter

That's a big wall, bigger than expected.

Grand marshall

Its big enough, big enough to be a disturbance not an annoyance.

Oliver

Well, no one said this was going to be easy, send a white flag in there to negotiate with the King.

Walter

I'll go.

Oliver

You will not.

Walter

Yes, yes, I will, that's a fucking order.

Grand marshall

My King, I think what Oliver is trying to say, is why put yourself at risk, when there's no need as you have the upper hand.

Walter

Cause I'm no pussy, prepare a group of men to venture into the city. Today, I don't feel like conflict.

Walter, Oliver and the Grand Marshall followed by a group of the Kings guards, go to the gate of the city, with one of the guards holding a white flag. The wooden doors start to open.

EXT. RIVERSIDE

They ride through the city, escorted by Riverside Guards, people booing as they pass by, till they reach a small palace, whitewashed at a cliff at the side of the river. They go inside and the doors close behind them as they enter.

INT. RIVERSIDE THRONEROOM

The King sits on a wooden throne, not too big, next to him his wife, and his daughter. The Throne room is not very large, a few large dark metal candelabrums with candles whose wax extends from the candle to the floor light up the room. On top a dark rusty metal chandelier. The room is quite dark.

The doors open and Walter and his company walk in. The room is crowded to the sides, with guards and knights.

KING OF THE FREE

I can't believe you came, tell me young King. What do you want of my people?

Walter

Just safe passage.

King of the free

Safe passage!? Tell me why should I, grant that.

Walter

Have you looked beyond your walls you fool?

Grand marshall

What our King is trying to say, is that if safe passage is not granted on your behalf, an alternative more offensive drastic maneuver will take place.

King of the free

Do you threaten me?

Walter

He is just stating facts. Let us through, and no harm will be done.

King of the free

I will not negotiate with a wayward child, this is the land of the free, no tyrant will give orders.

Walter

I am no child, I am no tyrant, I am the King of Colinion!

King of the free

A King? You will bring death and famine all where you go. You are no King.

Oliver

If you offend us, and you don't have intentions of finding resolve. Then watch your city burn.

The King of the Freemen stands up horrified.

King of the free

You threaten me again, If I watch my city burn, I'll watch your bodies bleed.

He takes out his sword, and all the guards and knights in the room follow to do so. So does Walters company making a circle, defending him. The tensions are high.

Walter

Don't you understand the shitstorm that will come to you if you touch me.

King of the free

You are in here! No one can save you!

Walter

They can't save me, but they can fucking avenge me.

KING OF THE FREE

Why the fuck, would they risk their lives avenging a lunatic.

Oliver

He may be a lunatic, he may be too young, he may be fucking wayward, but he is their King. So why don't you stop fucking around, as you know, that your next move will see the oblivion of this town, or its survival.

There is a pause

King of the free

Put down your weapons.

The King sits back down.

You do understand why, I am frustrated.

Walter

We will always be a better ally to you than them, they didn't show to save you, so don't be a liability and be a damn ally.

King of the free

That's your fucking problem kid, you all see everything as your assets or liabilities. But maybe I don't want to be either. For I am free, King of the free.

Walter

I don't ask anything, except the opening of your gates.

king of the free

How do I know, that you won't loot my city, rape my woman, kidnap our children and set the city to the blaze?

Walter

Well…

Grand marshall

I give you my word, before sundown the army will have passed through Riverside, and the Colinic crown will be forever in gratitude to the Free crown.

There is a long pause

King of the free

Bailiff, open the main gate, have everyone stay at home, and have the soldiers of Colinion take the main roads and bridges to the other side, with safe escort.

Walter

Thank you.

The King's company leaves the room.

EXT. RIVERSIDE WALLS

One more time the wooden gates open and the King and his company rides out, the city gates remain open. Not soon after the army start to move in through the narrow gate.

We see another wooden gate, the one at the other side, it opens and out ride some soldiers holding flags and banners. Then comes the army.

EXT. RIVERSIDE STREETS

Some guards are getting some apples of a market stall that has been abandoned due to them passing.

An Officer on a horse passes by and spots them.

Officer

Leave em apples ladies, or it will be the last food your hand shall feel, and the last taste your head shall imagine.

The guards back off, and the officer passes by.

Children peek from the windows to see the small roads flooded with men in armor. Horses, carriages, spears, sword, and a lot of banners. Their mom removing them from the window.

EXT. BRIDGE OF THE FREE

The main bridge of the Kingdom of the Freemen full of Colinic soldiers as well. Fishermen look from their little fishing ships as thousands of soldiers pass by.

Fisherman 1

What the fuck is going on.

Fisherman 2

I've roamed the world round and round, and though war is a terrible thing, it don't concern the fish.

Fisherman 1

Ah here we go again, we are at war again, on our way to paradise.

They both lift two bottles of rum and drink.

INT. BELL TURRET.

A man and his daughter look down at the 3 bridges all with armies going through them.

Girl

I can't see!

Father

There is nothing good to see.

Girl

Pick me up… Please!

The father lifts the girl.

Wow, who are they?

father

An army of the North, of death, an army of hogs.

Girl

Are they going to hurt us?

Father

No, but the storm they will unleash on the south will bring hard times on us all.

INT. WHITEWAHED PALACA

The King of the freemen looks from his whitewashed house at the river, were the army crosses using the bridges.

Queen of the free

We must inform North Thron of what is happening.

King of the free

Already did, though I doubt they will do much about it, they have grown weak, and their queen has grown sick in the head.

INT. NORTH THRON PALACE HALL.

A woman – queen of North Thron lies over a table with a glass of wine in her hand. Nearly falling asleep.

Suddenly the doors are opened by 2 guards and 3 men enter the hall.

The Prince of North Thron – Matthew

The ambassador of the Kingdom of Thron, a kingdom to the south of North Thron, and the nephew of the queen.

Matthew

Word from Riverside, they are coming, they are coming by the thousands.

Queen Warmblood

Ah, can't they fuck off…

Matthew

If we don't act soon, if we don't make an army to fight back-

Queen Warmblood

An army… we are just recovering from a famine and a previous conflict; I will not call the men to their arms.

Matthew

If you don't the farms will burn.

Ambassadro of thron

We don't know that for sure, it's best not to cause panic.

Matthew

Shut it, you have different interests to the ones of our people.

Ambassador of thron

Thron has full interests in the north, but if you're going to play foolishly, and cause more problems…

Matthew

Then what!?

Ambassador of thron

You are already in great debt to our kingdom, and a possible evil is coming from the far north. Don't be arrogant prince.

Matthew

Mother, the Colinians are not marching south to pick berries and enjoy the warm weather, they come for our cities, our peoples, our land.

Queen warmblood

I will not remove the men from the fields, not while harvest is upon us.

Matthew

Give me 5,000 men, hold them off at the border.

Queen Warmblood

There are already men at the border, two fortresses guard our border, we don't need more men.

Matthew

It's not enough mother.

Ambassador of thron

Thron will not join in this war if you provoke it my queen. Best is to wait what happens.

Matthew

Provoke!? They have entered the Free States, a clear violation of previous treaties, we are at war!

Queen warmblood

Shut up, shut up, my head… we will not gather armies for no reason, not in harvest season.

Matthew

Mother…

Queen Warmblood

Enough! Leave me be.

The 3 men leave the room, the ambassador one way and Matthew and his cousin through another. Landon is the name of his cousin.

Landon

Now what? We know Colinion is coming.

Matthew

I will take and army with me to the border.

Landon

The Queen won't be happy about it, or allow it.

Matthew

I don't fucking care. Gather as many men as you can, I will do the same, and keep it quiet. Meet me in the stables after dark.

INT. STABLES

We see some stables, men in groups talk and laugh, other caring weapons, some preparing horses, most of them wearing armor. Mathew walks in through the door and everyone stops, showing him respect.

He walks through till he reaches Landon.

Matthew

Landon, these numbers look good.

Landon

300 or so, my prince.

Matthew

That's 800 in total, won't do any miracles, but we can give a hell of a fight.

Matthew looks over Landon's shoulders to see a group kids and teens.

You intend the kids to fight?

Landon

They volunteered, and we need all the men we can get.

Matthew

They are not men; they are merely children. This is not a child's call.

Landon

According to the King of Colinion, it is a child's play.

Matthew walks over towards the group of children, some playing with a horse. Landon follows him.

Everyone sees the prince and stops.

Matthew

So, you want to fight?

KID#1

Yes my prince, we may be young, but we have a hell of a fight in us.

Matthew

I can see that, but I need you kids to do something else for me. Landon, get these boys some bells.

Landon

Bells?

Matthew

Yes, like some cattle bells.

Landon

I can get those… but we need swords Matthew not… bells.

Matthew

You will not take me for a fool Landon. These kids will be given bells instead of weapons, and they will have a simple duty,

Matthew turns to the children.

You will go from every town, from every village, from every Hamlet in the northern provinces, playing your bells and shouting your lungs out: Colinion is coming.

Matthew puts his hands on one of the kids shoulders.

Are you up for the task?

Kid#1

You have… you have my bell my prince!

Kid#2

And also mine!

Kid#3

Mine too

Kids#4

Same here!

Matthew

Well, then, here and today, I prince of North Thron son of Queen Warmblood, establish the order of the bell.

As North Thron tries its best to prepare for war, while a delusional queen avoids what is coming, treason starts to grow behind the King's back, right where it all started – Festos.

INT. COUNCIL OF MINISTERS

The Confidant of the King, also the prime minister of Colinion is holding a meeting with the ministers of Colinion. They run the Kingdom when the King cannot, but they tend to hold little power, as most of the power is held by the King and the kings loyal Earls.

But the Confidant of the King will try to change that, as he firmly believes a wayward child cannot rule Colinion.

Minister of Fincances

Well, what is the meaning of this meeting?

Confidant

Ministers of Colinion, our Kingdom, at war for no reason, our treasuries empty for the costs of a child's spoil, and frankly the Earls have lost confidence in our new child King. The worst is when he comes back, what else will he do?

Minister of Finances

What, are you suggesting?

Confidant

I am suggesting, that he should be controlled.

Minster of finances

What you suggest is Treason!

Minister of agriculture

The prime minister is right, he is a child, he can't rule us!

Minister of Finances

He might be a child, but that's why we are here.

Confidant

Did not this very council, advise not to go to war?

Minister Of Defence

I agree! the King must be removed from power, temporarily, till he becomes of age, or till this council decides otherwise.

Minister of Finaces

Decides otherwise? The Earls won't accept this.

Confidant

But probably they will. Far Bay has already agreed-

Minister of finances

Far Bay!? The Earldom that wishes to be independent.

Minister of defences

Please, you are the Minister of Finances, what has this war done to our economy?

Minister of finances

Well…

Minister of defences

What has this war done to our trade?

Minister of trade

It has slowed down significantly and bound to get worse.

Minister Of Defence

What about our agriculture, in times of harvest?

Minister of Agriculture

We don't have enough man power to collect all the harvest, a lot will go to waste.

Minister of Defence

And minister of Home Affairs, what do people think of the King and the current conflict?

Minister of home affairs

The people of Colinion do not support the campaign or the King in this matter.

Confidant

Well, well, well. That sums it up. He is not fit to rule and thus he will be removed from power till he becomes of age or this council chooses otherwise. All minister in accord say I.

All the ministers answer with I except the minister of finances.

Then it is done, the King will be removed from power as soon as he comes back. It's for the best. Now everyone leave…

Everyone starts to leave, the minister of Defense stays behind.

Minister of defense

That was easier done than said.

Confidant

We are not in the clear yet, the Earls can be very fucking loyal. But we have a start, anyways, who will want to avenge a child?

Minister of Defense

Must you really kill the King?

Confidant

I have explained already, only will I become reagent King if the King is dead, if not he will always have a claim to the throne, the only claim to the throne, therefore the only King!

Minister of defense

You have my support, but remember, one wrong move, and congratulations you have a civil war in your hands.

Confidant

With no next of kin in the Kings side, there will be no need for a war, and with the minister on my side, only now I need the Earls. The army exhausted of the war, what odds could I have against me?

EXT. FIELDS OF THE FREE STATES

We see Walter's face looking at something, that something the order of the free. An order of nights designed to keep tyrants out of their land. There are a few of them but no more than 100.

Walter

What do they want?

Oliver

They want you out of here.

Grand marshall

Let's go.

Both Oliver, The Grand Marshall and Walter ride to meet the man in charge.

Free Knight

What business brings you to our beloved free land.

Grand marhsall

Just passing through, no concern.

Free Knight

No concern!? You pass with an army of thousands.

Oliver

Then it should be in your interest to back off, you merely have 100 men.

The Free Knight looks backwards, and forwards again.

Free Knight

These are nor any mere men. These are knights of the order of the free. One of my knights could probably take down 10 of yours.

Grand marshall

If this was the case, you still don't have enough men.

The Free Knight looks at the vast army, that is currently not moving.

Free Knight

Probably, but nor I or my men are cowards.

Walter turns to Oliver.

Walter

Why don't we crush them then? And is it true, 10 for 1?

Oliver

Of course not, it's a petty order that gives knighthoods for nothing. Adding to that, we don't want any distractions; we want to be swift.

Grand Marshall

Fine, we get it, you have balls of steel. Your King has let us through Riverside, he has trusted us, and we have not failed him.

Free Knight

How do I know, Riverside is not a city of ash?

Walter

Because if that was the case, you would see a smoke plume from here.

Free knight

I'm talking with a child, why?

Grand marshall

He is no ordinary child; he is the king of Colinion.

Walter

I had enough of this fucking clown, kill them all.

The free knights take out their swords and so do the Colinians.

Free Knight

Fine, I see the King, does not like to fuck around. Now, if I let you through, how do I know you won't pillage and destroy our property and land.

Walter

You don't, there's nothing to pillage anyways. Now will you be a bump on my way?

The Free Knight puts his sword back. So do the rest of the knights.

Free Knight

The free States are open for you, but if any troubles ensue…

Walter

Put away your weapons lads, no trouble will ensue, you are not my enemy, you are not my target.

Everyone else puts away their weapons, and Walter, Oliver and the Grand Marshall ride off.

Grand marshall

You showed a good firm hand there.

Walter

That's what I have and that's what I am. Firm.

INT. EAST HEAD CASTLE

The Earl of East Head is writing something down and drinking out of his cup of brandy in his small office. Light up by a wooden chandelier on top. A small arrow slit window looking at the harbor sits behind him. A shelf with books next to the door. And his desk, a complete mess.

One of his servants walks in.

The Earl does not look up.

Earl of east head

What is it?

Servant

That Captain, is here to see you.

He lifts his head

Earl of east head

Fucking Robertson?

Servant

Yes, that's the one.

Captain Robertson (o.s)

No, it's not fucking Robertson its Captain

Captain Robertson walks in.

Earl of east head

Leave us.

The servant leaves the room.

Captain Robertson

I'm sorry if I offended you in our previous encounter.

Earl of east head

Apologies accepted, I'm not a fucking woman, I won't hold a grudge.

Captain Robertson

King has passed through Riverside.

Earl of east head

I heard.

Captain robertson

We will be living soon, sorry for stinking up your city.

Earl of east head

Stop with the fucking banter, why do you come?

Captain Robertson

I leave with a big deal of your men; I wouldn't want tensions and conflicts within my ranks.

Earl of east head

I can't control my men's pride.

Captain Robertson

I know, that's why I want your son to travel with me, as a sort of captain.

Earl of east head

My son!? He is not, sort of captain material.

Captain Robertson

He can learn a thing or two and keep an eye on your men and ships.

Earl of east head

Huh, that's a not a foolish idea, take my son Captain then. Keep an eye on him, after all, he is my only son.

Captain Robertson

He is going to war; danger will be present.

Earl of east head

Don't get him killed, that's all I ask.

Captain Robertson

Two days' time, right before sunrise, he better be in the docks, ready.

Earl of east head

Anything else?

Captain robertson

Till we meet again…

The Captain bows his head a bit and leaves the room.

Earl of east head

Fucking Robertson.

He finishes his Brandy,

More Brandy!

EXT. CAPTAIN ROBERTSON'S SHIP

Captain Robertson walks out of the stern, talking to Captain Murray, and notices Simon, son of the Earl observing the ship.

Captain Robertson

Give me a second Murray.

The Captain walks up to Simon.

Simon, away from the comfort of the castle and into the life of a sailor.

Simon

Nice boat.

Captain Robertson

I know, she is the pride of North Coast. Biggest ship on the fleet.

Simon

What am I getting, a hammock, in the hold of the ship?

Captain Robertson

No, you will get a cabin, a bit small but it should do.

Simon

Perfect Captain. I know my father was a cunt, may your judgement about me, not be clouded by my father.

Captain Robertson

Don't worry son, I see a clear difference.

We see that people are preparing the ships, for the last voyage to South Lagoon, chickens and goats being packed up. Multiple crates, swords, spears and weapons. And some ships in the distance already at sea.

EXT. NORTH THRON BORDER

Walter rides up to a statue of a king on a horse – King Conrad of North Thron. Grandfather of the Warmblood queen. A wise, and efficient ruler.

Walter

King Conrad, right?

Barbara rides next to him.

Barbara

Yes, that's him.

Walter

They don't have rulers like him in North Thron no more. Now they are all weak and attack us for no reason.

Barbara

Sure.

Walter

I attack for revenge, for the war they waged against my father.

barbara

Sure… 10 years ago…

The Grand Marshall rides up to them as well.

Grand marshall

The border of North Thron. Now starts the bloody part.

EXT. EAST HEAD SEA

We see the Kings Armada, on the ocean heading south towards the city of South Lagoon. Some still at harbor, but most open sails in the open sea.
