Below is a fiction story.

Snoring filled the air. Jack Holiday watched as she hugged her pillow contently muttering small sounds as if she was having pleasant dreams.

She wasn't aware how near she was to having her throat slit. Jack licked his lips as he thought about her blood draining out and staining the sheets, her limp lifeless body posed and ready for the police to find. He wiped drool from the corner of his lips as he patted a concealed knife. All it would take is a quick slice across the throat...and she would be his perfect plaything just like the other women and men unfortunate enough to cross his path.

He paced the room slowly, watching her breathe. Oh, the decisions! Should he kill her and continue his game with the police or should he leave her alive?

She was different, obedient, and naive, not to mention a poor judge of character. This isn't the way a person is supposed to react to being kidnapped after all. There was no screaming, no struggle. It was almost as if she were happy he took her!

Her snoring interrupted his thoughts, and he turned and looked at her. A smile played on her face.

He found himself smiling back. It was new, amusing, funny. Maybe that was why he decided to play along. It was just playing. She would die if she got out of line, or if he just wanted to, but for now, here she was. He had never seen a woman so calm and content before. It confused him.

She wouldn't cry, struggle, or plead, and she was perfectly obedient without being forced. It was like she actually trusted him.

"Me? Does she trust me? That's like the little mouse trusting the cobra...or worse" the man whispered to himself.
