Jay Sawyer of Chester Dr. has observed that the Americans are no longer interested in boring games and players with strong political opinions. In his opinion, the main reason why there has been a decline in NBA ratings is people want to escape politics and getting politics during an NBA game would be the last thing they would ever want.
If the statistics are to be believed, ratings for the first round of playoffs were down 27 percent from last season and down 40 percent from two years ago. A survey dedicated to finding the reason behind the changing interest of people highlighted that while 28 percent of the people found the matches boring without fans, the other 19 percent blamed NBA's association with China.
Jay Sawyer further explains how the NFL is also suffering from poor attendance as all people want to do is enjoy Sunday football without having politics tangled up in the game.
