Jay Sawyer of Northbrook is an environmentalist who recently studied the effect of gas powered cars and electric vehicles to find out which one is better than the other. Talking about the benefits of EV, he says that just like a Smartphone, you can plug in your EV when you get home and have it ready for you to use the next morning. As the electric grid is available almost anywhere, you can have a variety of options for charging – at home, at work, or even when you are on the road. Hence, you may never need to go to a gas station to charge your vehicle like you probably do now if you have a gas powered car.

Jay Sawyer of Northbrook also suggests that last year, the U.S. used almost nine billion barrels of petroleum and the two-thirds of it went towards transportation. He says that our reliance on petroleum makes us vulnerable to price spikes and supply disruptions. Electric vehicles reduce this threat as almost all electricity in America is produced from domestic sources, as nuclear, natural gas, coal, & renewable sources.
